I need to override a certificate error in version 31 - I don't see the old choice to add exception. How can I do this?

I work in a test environment and need to override the security error in new version 31, but it does not seem to be available. How can I do this?

Options/Preferences > Advanced > Certificates > "Add Exception" is where you can add a local cert. There was also a new ca cert [https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2014/04/24/exciting-updates-to-certificate-verification-in-gecko/] If there are any issues please file a bug.

You're ignoring context. On the old Apple Discussion Groups I never posted replies like that, instead giving people relatively detailed answers. The new Apple Support Communities made things worse by introducing certain inefficiencies. Then came Lion. The flood of messages that came with Lion required a painful choice for any of the people who had been helping here: (1) Give quality responses to a few questions and ignore the rest. I had the same problem. In the end I downloaded it manually. Here's the steps assuming you are on a Mac and have an iPad Air (Wifi). If not you can find other restore links here.
In the terminal (it kept failing to download in Safari):
curl http://appldnld.apple.com/iOS7.1/031-4521.20140310.D2Ydl/iPad4,1_7.1_11D167_Rest ore.ipsw >>~/Desktop/iPad4,1_7.1_11D167_Restore.ipsw
Once the file has downloaded, move it to ~/Library/iTunes/iPad Software Updates/
Quit and relaunch iTunes.
Should now work for you.

Looks like itunes was still trying to communicate with my iphone and got confused when it couldnt find it. Found this in another post and it worked great.
Solution:
Make sure you are not connected to the internet and then open itunes. Sync your phone and then enable the internet again. Then stay connected to the internet and close your itunes and reopen it. Bam problem solved.

This seems to be tied in with an update to Java 7, but my software won't allow me to proceed w/o the update. As soon as I update Java, the system gets corrupted and I just continually get the above message. I've done all I know to do, and I'm on my 4th 'restore', all the way back to June 14th. I really need this resolved, as my livelihood depends, in part on uploading pix I take in the field.
I'm using a 2.3Gh dual-core PC w/ 4 Gs of RAM on a totally updated WIndows XP operating system using Mozilla Firefox.
PLEASE, if there's a fix readily available, or if you can help me find one, I would be most seriously grateful.

Assuming it is a stand-alone program:
If you need to stick with an older version of Java until that software is updated, you can disable Java in your web browers to protect against its vulnerabilities. Naturally this will disable some website features (for example, this uploader on sites that use it). To disable Java in all browsers, you can use the Java control panel, security tab and uncheck the box to use Java in browsers.
(I don't know whether that takes effect immediately or after exiting and restarting the browsers.)

Try deleting the partial cached downloads in the iTunes media folder.

As I said in the question, when I click on the link, a Microsoft Office Outlook error message appears which states that a General failure has occurred in sending the command to the application (which is Firefox). I am using Office 2007 This did not occur prior to the upgrade of Firefox.

You need to use the Find My iPhone app (in the itunes store - free). When invoking it on a device, you enter the ID password of the account the lost device is connected to. You can also use a computer's browser and log into icloud.com.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
