Need Help
Let's see if I can get this straight.
You have an Airport Extreme base station that is set to "Create a wireless network" and you have the box checked for "allow this network to be extended"....
Then you have an Airport Express that is set to "Extend a wireless network" which you selected the name of your network in the box...
Correct?
See this Apple document:

The wireless unit on the right of the diagram can be either of the newer Apple base stations.

What do I need to print from an IPad 1st Generation with 3G?
I am looking for information on how to find and set up a printer for our grandparents IPad 3G (through AT&T) 1st Generation. They currently use the IPad to search the web but are looking to print out receipts for purchases, etc... They do not have a computer or wireless network in their house nor will they in the future. I am looking for an easy (not too expensive) printer and any know-how to help me with this project. Thanks in advance for your help!!!

iPad printing requires a wireless network and a wireless printer.

We have a Kyocera office copier/printer in the office and I really need to print from my iPad. Is there any way I could print from that? Currently I have to email to myself then print from my laptop ( not cool) I might as well do the work on my laptop.
The key for printing is:
The aforementioned having an airprint enabled printer which you can use natively, no other apps needed.
Investigating to see if your printer manufacturer has any solutions.
Third party apps, such as print n share, print central, printopia
About everything operates on the presumption that the printer and the iPad be on the same wireless network.
What you might look into is investigating some program that allows you to upload your document to the cloud, which will automatically download onto a computer hardwired to the printer and then print. I know my kodak printer has that ability using google docs (I never investigated it because I didn't need to print badly enough to get yet another online account)
But rigging up a local print server (which is what that hardwired computer would be) is likely the one thing that'll work in an office environment. and it's still contingent upon you having wifi or internet access to upload your document from your device to that computer.
I'd dig around on Kyocera's site to see if they have any solutions for your situation. I'm not sure if your printer is a more consumer grade or a professional grade, but ours at work, for example, can be set up to also be a scanner. I can put a document in the printer, scan it and have that scan e-mailed to me. So it could be possible that your printer may have the ability to have documents directly e-mailed to it. So digging through teh site or manual could reveal some options you may not even know your printer offers. -

How do I print from an iPad? Do I need to download SW to the iPad?
How do I print from my iPad to my Photosmart 6510? Do I need to download any SW or App to the iPad? If so which one?
This question was solved.
View Solution.Hello Luc-P,
You do not need to download any apps or SW to print from your iPad. There are actually two ways to print from your iPad: using ePrint or over a local wireless network using Airprint.
To use ePrint, you would find your printers email address by enabling Web Services on the front of the printer and sending an email to this address for the printer to print your message and/or attachments included
To use Airprint, you would make sure that your printer and iPad are connected to the same wireless network and that your iPad has iOS Version 4.2 or higher and use the embedded print function included on the iPad software. You can print from Mail, Safari, and Photos app this way.
You may need to perform a product update to ensure Airprint is working.
If you have any further questions you can reply to this post and I will try to find an answer for you.
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!
Although I work for HP, my posts and replies are my own opinion and not those of HP. -

So If I download Printopia on my Mac Book Pro, do I go to iTunes to somehow connect the computer and the iPad?
No.
Printopia (running on your Mac) connects the iPad to your printer. -
My new Hewlett Packard printer is listed as an AirPrinter on the Apple website, but when I try to print from my iPad it says that there are No airprinters. The printer is connected to the same WiFi network, is turned on & I'm close to the printer. Do I need to forma/set up the iPad or Printer to enable this feature?!
It would help to post this in a more proper form. This is for the iTunes family of stores.

Can i print from my ipad to a kodak hero 5.1 printer which is not an airprinter?
can i print from my ipad to a kodak hero 5.1 printer which is not an airprinter?
If the printer has WiFi, Kodak has an app in the iTunes Store that allows printing to at least some of their WiFi-equipped printers. Third-party printing apps such as PrintCentral are also available. All such apps have limitations, so check them out thoroughly before you pay for any such app.
For other printers, you can route the printing through your computer. If you have a Mac, Printopia would be worth a look. Fingerprint is another option that is available for both Mac OS X and Windows system. You could also consider an AirPrint-capable print server. Lantronix makes a couple of models, including one that supports a USB printer:

By the way, you originally posted in the forum for asking questions about the Communities themselves. There are forums specifically for Apple products, including the iPad, and normally you'll get the quickest and most applicable responses if you post there.

I need to know how to print from my IPAD 4 on my MFC J410W Brother's printer.
Printing from an iPad or iPhone
To print directly from an iPad you need an AirPrint - enabled printer on the same wireless network as the iPad. All AirPrint printers are wireless but not all wireless printers are AirPrint-enabled. Your Brother MFC-J410W is not an AirPrint printer.
If you do not have an AirPrint printer, a number of workarounds exist that enable the use of any printer you normally use, even older ones that may predate AirPrint by decades. Search for the following products:
handyPrint (Mac only, donation-supported)
Printopia (Mac only, $19.95 with free trial)
These are utilities you install on the Mac you normally use for printing, enabling it to act as an AirPrint print server. The Mac must be "on" but may be asleep for them to work. The iPad needs nothing else, no iOS apps need to be installed and no configuration is necessary. If your computer can print, so can the iPad, using one of these utilities on your Mac.
Equivalent utilities may exist for PCs but I have no experience with them - I suggest https://www.collobos.com
You can also buy this standalone hardware print server, bypassing the need for a computer altogether:
http://www.lantronix.com/it-management/xprintserver/xprintserver.html
Otherwise you will need to buy an AirPrint printer or multifunction device.
The following are my recommendations
AirPrint compatible Brother laser devices
and
AirPrint compatible Brother inkjet devices

Question. Why can I print from my iPad 3 but not from my new iPad mini which has a lower spec?
The "lower specs" have nothing to do at all with why you cannot print. Are you connected to the same Wi-Fi network that the printer & the iPad 3 is on?
