  • Disable BIOS Password on Boot?

Is there a way to disable BIOS password on Boot? I know the password & all. It's just annoying to have to keep putting it in on start, then having to sign in again seconds later. Thanks in advance.

Hi there Majkel and all others,
This forum gui is difficult to use/understand so apologies for my naivety.
This is a strange situation so hopefully someone can help!
Recently I found a Toshiba A120 satellite pro in a rubbish bin.
I cant stand the idea of goog tech going to waste so I pick it out and dusted it off hoping that I could get it
    working again.
However even though when I got it home and it powered up oh joy, my glee was indeed short lived by
    one single word, thats right
    "password="
I tried reading the sata hard drive on a separate usb to see if I could find out whose it was and contact them.
    Hard drive dead.
I tried knocking on all the doors near where I found it to find the owner and try and get the password from them.(fingers crossed someone may be able to help?)
I tried my nearest laptop repair shop he quoted 100 for soldering in a new bios chip which sounded expensive and suspiciously like it wouldnt work.
I'm willing to send it into toshiba if I have to but I would really like to find a way to contact the original owner
and simply ASK THEM what the password is, I would even pay them to find out if I had to.
The only info I have is the serial number which is- s/n- 76041309h or the longer number on the bottom which is- i76041309hssac0007009ENB
If there is any way to get hold of the original owner and ask them it would be a godsend!
Thank you to anyone who can help!
    Luke ;-)

  • BIOS modify to boot into usb?

    Hello world!
I have a bootable usb drive, but I need to change the BIOS options to boot into my usb. First, how do I access the BIOS on my mac? Second, how do I change the settings so I can boot into my usb?
    Thank you!

If the USB drive is bootable and has something on it to boot from, them all you need to do is select it in the Startup Disk Preference
or restart holding the Option key and select it from the Startup Manager.
See > Startup Manager: How to select a startup volume
If not, then see > Starting from an external USB storage device (Intel-based Macs)

  • Can you recover a itouch password without recovery?

    Hello Apple people,
I recently changed my Ipod touch password so that my fiance could get into it. Unfortunately, she went ahead and changed the password again and completely forgot it, thinking it'd be cute. Gotta love her.. .
Anyways, Normally, I'd have gone through the steps of syncing my ipod to my computer, restoring and then using the back up I'd made to bring it back to the last back up. Here's the kicker, I had to restore my computer in the process I deleted Itunes off my computer and neglected to reinstall it. I have pictures from prom and of friends that have passed and other data I'd like to keep that is only on the Ipod.
My question is, is there away to recover my Ipod touch password without completely wiping my ipod, all it's apps, photo's and data?
Thanks in advance for any an all help.

Well, the only way to remove the password is to restore the iPod. However, before you restore it, you can still get all your data. To get your photos, simply plug your iPod in, open iPhoto, and import them. For any other data, you can just back up to iTunes before you restore.

  • I am new to Macs and, although I like it, I still don't understand it's behavior. When would you need to provide the administrative password at boot time? Safe Mode?

    Background...
I joined the Mac bandwagon about 2 months ago. I am still getting used to it, but like it so far. Last week, I activated a new Iphone on my Imac. I needed to key in my userid and password. 3 days later, my itunes account was hacked into. My itunes information was scrambled. My itunes email, home address, and password were changed. Also, they didn't use my credit card which was attached to my account to make any purchases (they deleted my card and put someone else's card on my account to buy $100 worth of gift cards). I didn't receive any emails from Apple that my password, or email were changed, but I did get 2 receipts from the Itunes Store identifiying the purchases. Apple support fixed everything, but couldn't offer any explanation on what happened, other than to say my account was "modified". I don't like coincidences.
I freely admit that I didn't do enough to protect my login credentials as I used the same userid and password on multiple sites (since corrected). I still don't know how my account was accessed. I started to wonder if there may have been a key logger installed on my Imac without my knowing it. I am pretty careful with installing software and have purchase about 15 applications, all either from the itunes store, or from other reputable sources. I have never made any in-app purchases.
I understand that to install a key logger you would need to supply the admin password, which brings me to my question....
About 4 weeks ago, my wife was using the Imac on facebook. While she was there, the Imac experienced a hard crash. We had to do push and hold the button on the back of Imac to get it to shut down and reboot. When it came up, it required the admin password, and dropped me into a mode where it wouldn't recognize the external disk drive which was attached via USB. I needed to restart the machine and everything appeared to be normal. I assumed that this was Apples version of "safe" mode, but now I am not so sure. Could a key logger have been installed during this event? Is this expected behavior after a hard reset?
I have McAfee for Mac installed and it hasn't detected any threats, but McAfee is pretty wishy-washy on it's ability to detect key loggers. I am thinking about Macscan or Little Snitch. I would do a reinstall of the OS, if I only knew how.
    Any help?

your itunes accoutn have nothing to d with your computer
you can go to any computer with internet access in the world and
login into your itunes account if you have the appleID and password
the itunes account is placed on apples itunes servers

  • Tecra 8000: Does Bios Update enable booting from USB?

    Hello
    I have Toshiba Tecra 8000 (PentiumII 266MHZ)
Will this bios bios-t8000-930-trad.zip (08/26/02) enable boot from USB ?

    Hi
Im not sure about that. Your BIOS version is 020 but on the Toshiba website I have found a BIOS version 9.30. Well, it seems that this version is newer but Im not sure if it allows you to use the 40GB HDD.
Some Tecra 8000 models were delivered with a 14 GB HDD. In my opinion it should be possible to use a 20 or maybe a 30 GB HDD but its difficult to say if the bigger HDD size will work.
You can ask the professional HDD dealer or a ASP for further informations.

  • How to recover IDSM-2 password (without know any password)

    Hi,
We have a IDSM-2 system card in 6500 system. Unfortunately, we lost tracking the login/password. I have read Cisco doc# 13837. It req to know either admin username/password or service username/password to do password recovery. I do not have those info (and tried). The last method suggested is to re-image IDSM-2 (IOS). I am wondering there is a better way to recover password like other switch..(such as hold mode to reboot switch) without re-image. Here is the card info:
"WS-SVC-IDSM-2 8 ports Intrusion Detection System Rev. 6.1"
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    gy

A "re-image" is necessary, but it is not a standard re-image.
Instead there is a special image file that ONLY sets the cisco password back to the default "cisco". It doesn't change anything else on the system.
Download the password recovery image file WS-SVC-IDSM2-K9-a-6.1-password-recovery.bin.gz from:
    http://tools.cisco.com/support/downloads/go/ImageList.x?relVer=6.1%281%29E1&mdfid=277997776&sftType=Intrusion+Prevention+System+%28IPS%29+System+Software&optPlat=&nodecount=29&edesignator=null&modelName=Cisco+Catalyst+6500+Series+Intrusion+Detection+System+%28IDSM-2%29+Services+Module&treeMdfId=268438162&modifmdfid=null&imname=&treeName=Security&hybrid=Y&imst=N
To "install" this special password recovery file you will follow the System Re-Image instructions, but use this special file instead of the standard System Image file.

  • Need to recover apple ID & password...tried all available combinations

iPhone 5, for some unknown reason, has decided that I need to activate it, even though I've been using it for months with no problems. I have attempted all known combinations without success, and it seems to want an ID that has an @icloud address. To my knowledge, I have never known nor seen such an e-mail address, especially for my iTunes account. My 3 months complimentary phone support is over. E-mails to Apple Customer service have not been returned. Any help is appreciated.

If you don’t know your security questions, phone Apple (using the number listed here:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57  ) and ask for the Account Security Team.

ty msi for making this worst day in my life
i think its prety default that you should be able to do a flash recovery from flopy disc
wich does't work even ctrl+home does't force flash recovery it thinks that its better to search on my dvd-rom instead off flopy
reason because flopy is old off by default.
my next upgrade is best off the best
    without crappy temp sensor etc.
all i want is high performance board but if it already fails to do a flash recovery then no thnx.
next mobo wont be a waste off money
this is not something against the msi community its something against msi it self.
still hope i can rma it or fix it.
but i think the change is 0% since it does't dectect my keyboard
    or cpu
    this is the 2e time
    1e it worked
    2e time it did't
and i think i known why it failed because msi boards can't be flashed back to an old vision :S

Buy a new Snow Leopard DVD: purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.

  • Forgot windows password - Cannot boot w/ USB Drive IdeaPad N585

    Hi All,
Like the subject line says, my son forgot his password.
I did some research and found a way to reset it using a USB drive to boot from.
The problem is that Windows 8 will not boot from the USB.I tried 2 different software with no luck.
In the BIOS I even disabled the Secure Boot option thinking that had something to do with it.
The USB Boot option is enabled.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,
    -Panos
