I need to recover my Bootcamp!

Hi,
I have (had) Vista 64bit Bootcamp when I had Snow Leopard, I upgraded to Mountain Lion and everything was sort of fine for quite sometime. My Vista bootcamp has just died. I need to reinstall Windows to make it work but it does not let me and it does not read the CD-ROM to install Windows. On the other hand, I can NOT go through OSX and work with Bootcamp since Mountain Lion does not support Vista Bootcamp.
Can someone please tell me what other choice do I have other than deleting the whole Windows and Mountain Lion and start from scratch (Snow Leopard)???

Well, I might have been a little unclear on the topic because I actually need an old backup, not the latest one but the one before that. In \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\ I only seem to find the latest one, I need the backup made before that to access the contacts. I can´t use Itunes for it (onsly shoiws the option to replace the latest one). I suspect it might have been moved somewhere but I don´t know where since I don´t know the name of the file or could it possibly hgave been overwritten by the latest one? In such case is there any way I can retrieve it ( I might add that I haven´t done a backup of my computer)????

You appear to have two issues: 1) a hard drive that is not working properly and 2) files you wish to recover.
Re 1) you need to answer Kappy's questions.
Re 2) does the drive load and can you see your photo files? If so can you copy them to another drive?
Do you not have a backup of the photo files?

How to find out which archived logs needed to recover a hot backup?

I'm using Oracle 11gR2 (11.2.0.1.0).
I have backed up a database when it is online using the following backup script through RMAN

}The backup set contains the backup of datafiles and control file. I have copied all the backup pieces to another server where I will restore/recover the database but I don't know which archived logs are needed in order to restore/recover the database to a consistent state.
I have not deleted any archived log.
How can I find out which archived logs are needed to recover the hot backup to a consistent state? Can this be done by querying V$BACKUP_DATAFILE and V$ARCHIVED_LOG? If yes, which columns should I query?

A few ways :
1a. Get the timestamps when the BACKUP ... DATABASE began and ended.
1b. Review the alert.log of the database that was backed up.
1c. From the alert.log identify the first Archivelog that was generated after the begin of the BACKUP ... DATABASE and the first Archivelog that was generated after the end of the BACKUP .. DATABASE.
1d. These (from 1c) are the minimal Archivelogs that you need to RECOVER with. You can choose to apply additional Archivelogs that were generated at the source database to contininue to "roll-forward"
2a. Do a RESTORE DATABASE alone.
2b. Query V$DATAFILE on the restored database for the lowest CHECKPOINT_CHANGE# and CHECKPOINT_TIME. Also query for the highest CHECKPOINT_CHANGE# and CHECKPOINT_TIME.
2c. Go back to the source database and query V$ARCHIVED_LOG (FIRST_CHANGE#) to identify the first Archivelog that has a higher SCN (FIRST_CHANGE#) than the lowest CHECKPOINT_CHANGE# from 2b above. Also query for the first Archivelog that has a higher SCN (FIRST_CHANGE#) than the highest CHECKPOINT_CHANGE# from 2b above.
2d. These (from 2c) are the minimal Archivelogs that you need to RECOVER with.
(why do you need to query V$ARCHIVED_LOG at the source ? If RESTORE a controlfile backup that was generated after the first Archivelog switch after the end of the BACKUP ... DATABASE, you would be able to query V$ARCHIVED_LOG at the restored database as well. That is why it is important to force an archivelog (log switch) after a BACKUP ... DATABASE and then backup the controlfile after this -- i.e. last. That way, the controlfile that you have restored to the new server has all the information needed).
3. RESTORE DATABASE PREVIEW in RMAN if you have the archivelogs and subsequent controlfile in the backup itself !

A recent drive failure forced a complete re-install of all windows Vista system software I was able to revive old hardisk & I need to recover my bookmarks.

I recently suffered a hard drive failure that managed to take months worth of valuable work when it failed. I replaced the hard disk drive in my laptop and completed a fresh install of Windows Vista and all the programs that were used on that system which included Firefox. After finding an exact match of the drive that failed I managed to get the drive running again by replacing the drives control board and I am now able access the data on the drive.I usually really anal about backing up all of my valuable data but I have been so busy with my current project my usual habits went to the wayside. I need to recover the Firefox bookmarks from the old drive and recover them to the new drive but I haven't been able to find the file that contains the bookmarks from the previous installation of Firefox. Could somebody please help me locate these valuable bookmark files

Blue Screen on Satellite P100 - need to recover data

On switching on my laptop yesterday I was faced with a blue screen error message which even after running chkdisk keeps on appearing, even when rebooting in safe mode.
The problem is I only have Toshiba recovery disks (not an XP disk - XP was pre-installed on the laptop) and they say on them using the recovery disk wipes the computer and I need to recover data on the hard drive before reformatting.
I've taken the laptop to the local repair centre and they say they have to reformat and dont do data recovery.
Any suggestions gratefully received.

I took the laptop to the local Toshiba repair centre and they ran some tests and said that there was no problem with the hardware. However, when I took the machine to a specialist company to get the data recovered they reported 'serious errors in the file allocation table'. They managed to recover most of my data but when the hard drive was re-formatted the problems returned so I had to purchase a new hard drive which wasnt cheap.
My laptop is under warranty and I am a little annoyed that they said there was no problem with the hard drive when there patently was. I would like to reocover the money from Toshiba spent on the drive. (laptop under warranty)

Since it has always been very basic to backup your computer and all it's data, Apple provides no way for you to transfer music from your iPhone back to your computer. As you know, you can re-download all iTunes purchases, but music that you ripped yourself you'll have to just re-rip again.
You can try and find 3rd party applications that might help you. I'm sure you'll pay, however.
Let this be a very important lesson learned.

Your best option would be to try a program called backup extractor. It is mac only

Erased my disk need to recover data

So this is what happened (in details):
1. I dropped my mac book pro accidentally (Have to complain that mag safe DIDN'T WORK AT ALL)
2. By using Command+R+Power,mac checked it was caused by a damage from hard disk.
3. By using Shift, I entered safety mode.
4. Disk Utility stated that it couldn't first-aid it, so I had to erase all my data.
5. I just got my Pro for one week so I didn't time machine it.
6. After erasing all my data, I installed Mac OSX again.
7. Even though I didn't time machine it, I already transferred some important pictures to my Mac without leaving copies on my old PC.
8. I REALLY REALLY need to recover, at least, those pictures. They are so precious for me. I know it's my fault but I really do think that mac is solid.
9. SO HELP ME PLEASE!

I'm afraid that if you erased your hard drive, those photos are long gone. There are some data recovery apps out there (DIskWarrior, Data Rescue 3) that may help, but a data recovery center is likely your best bet - and they can be expensive.
I seriously doubt that you'll be able to recover your data - please look at coming up with some sort of backup scheme to prevent such a loss in the future.

Try to backup and restore you device in itunes...restoring the device is like removing the iOS software off the device and re-add in a newer software, after you have restore you device, MAKE SURE YOU SET UP YOUR DEVICE LIKE A NEW DEVICE, DONT NOT RESTORE FROM BACKUP!!... give the device a chance to use the newer software and see if the issue still persisting, if the issue still on going then its would be a hardware issue.
Call Apple Care and see if your device is still under warranty to get it replace
