I need to reinstall a CS3 PC version on a new Mac

I had a crash on myPC and lost my Photoshop CS3 program that I bought from Adobe and downloaded. I lost faith in the PC because of viruses and general problems and switched to a Mac. Adobe has me going in circles and the tech support keeps on sending me to the download section that gives me nothing but error 404 messages. I have the serial number but it seems to be useless. Any help out there?

You cannot use a CS3 Windows serial number on a Mac version.
The Creative Suite serial numbers are platform specific: Windows only or Mac only.
You could install Windows on your Mac via Parallels or Bootcamp or similar then install CS3 Win on Windows on your Mac.
Alternatively, there is a platform swap process (to swap your Windows serial number for a Mac serial number) but it only applies to current versions (CS6).
Unfortunately CS3 is too old to use it to upgrade to CS6 so you'd have to pay full price for CS6 for Mac.
Your other option is to join the Cloud and pay the monthly fee.

If you will tell me what 2004 means. Photoshop CS or version 8 came out around that time and since activation has been terminated for that version, you are entitled to the CS2 replacement:

if you do the "normal" upgrade, all you apps should still be available. If you did an erase first, then you will have to reinstall them. BUT, BEFORE you do the install, create a bootable backup, just in case anything happens (very rare, but why temp fate).

What OS is on your new Mac? I'm doubtful AE CS3 will even run if it's new!
The oldest version of AE that is okay to run on OSX v10.10 (Yosemite) is CS6 (After Effects version 11.0.4).
I'd recommend just upgrading to After Effects CC 2014. It's significantly cheaper than $1,000.00 (think $20 a month or $50 if you want the ENTIRE software suite)
The current version of AE is 13.1.1 - to compare, AE CS3 is version 8.0.2
If I remember correctly, CS3 was the first version of AE that even supported Intel processors on the Mac!
Anyway, in case it might work, the serial numbers should be on the case that the After Effects version 7 discs came in.
If you don't have a serial number on that disc and you were doing some form of online activation, you're in for some more fun! Adobe no longer supports CS2 online activation. Will CS3 and CS5 run on new Macs?

I need to run Indesign and Photoshop in both CS3 AND CS5. Will they run on a new Mac Pro OS? Do I need Rosetta? I hear it will work on Lion OS 10.6, but not the upcoming Mountain Lion OS 10.7. True?

Hi, I downloaded the Adobe CS6 in 2012 and recently bought a new Mac Pro. I have the applications on my hard drive and I don´t know how to reinstall it onto my new computer. I have the serial number and information. Any help would be appreciated!

You should check your Adobe account online to see if there is a link provided for you there.

Removed authorization on old computer, but iTunes still tells me I have 5 authorizations in iTunes on other computers, and I need to remove one before I can auth. my new mac! arrrgh!!

I'm trying to authorize my new mac in iTunes, but it keeps telling me i need to remove one authorization from another computer.
I removed the authorization from my old laptop - but it STILL tells me i need to remove one authorization before my new mac can be authorized!! I even removed iTunes on the old computer, but it still doesn't work! What do I do?? I want the music from my iMac to be on my MacBook as well!

Once a year, you can also perform a step called "deauthorize all computers associated with your Apple ID". It will clear all 5 authorizations so you can reauthorize the one you want.

How to download iphoto and other software for other macs from the liscensed version from a new mac

I purchased a macbook pro in Dec 2011 and was told I could download software from app store (ilife, OSX, etc) for up to two other macs based on the software liscense agreement. Can anybody tell me where to find instructions on how to do this? Thanks. TJW

You need to have accepted the iLife suit into your Mac App Store account from the Mac App Store app on your new Mac. Then you should be able to open the Mac App Store on the other Macs with at least Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.6 and download the apps after signing into your account.
There is not a two Mac limit. You are able to download your Mac App Store apps on every Mac that you own or have in your control, which would include Macs issued to you by your emplyer or an educational institution.

Reinstall application bought on CD with a new Mac having no CD drive

I get the error message "Some of the application components are missing from the application directory. Please reinstall the application". I found the message listed in the support. BUT, it says reinstall the application by inserting the CD if you bought one. I did. But I have a new Mac with no possibiliy to insert a CD. So, what can I do?

Hello everyone,
my MacBook Pro of mid 2008 recently died on me (**** MAD). It died last year, and has really put a dent in my progression as a musician that records.
I have recently gotten some extra money and I am itching to record this important next album. I can either fix my older MacBook for around $300, or buy a new iMac for $1k.
When my MacBook Pro broke down, I could still make some great music with good reliability, .... but not the best. It started to choke up with a number of tracks and effects. I had to get around this just closing the bare min of apps and just keep going. I just dealt with it.
I am trying to decide what to do. I want to spend as little money as I need to, while ensuring that I am back in the Mac OS strong for years to come.
All my songs are in Logic, more done than starting fresh with a Windows machine, which I have. I was thinking of upgrading my Windows machine for about $300, but I would have to record all over again with an app I am not familiar with.
My question is > Should I repair my older MacBook Pro for around $300, or just get a faster new iMac for $1k, so I can WORK?

No Rick I didn't get the AppleCare. Didn't think my Mac would die RIGHT OUTSIDE the included warranty, but it did.

I think I am gonna get a new iMac. You guys are right, my career and work are too important to skimp a few $100 dollars on.
Or it might be a few grand on. I was thinking of the base model. But for $500 more I get a faster processor and more drive space. But if I got the smaller one, I would just connect another bigger monitor to it. Any suggestions?
And should I get the Apple Case?

We bought the non-membership version of Lightroom in January 2013 and are wondering how to move it to our new Mac. I thought I had figured it out and downloaded lightroom, but the trial version won't give me any options to enter my serial number since it's part of Creative Cloud. Help!
