I was fooling around with Lightroom and it has a tethering option. I tried it and it worked. But I am still reading my camera manual as you recommeded.

Need to reinstall CS5 Extended on new Win8 laptop.

Originally purchased CS5 Extended license for a Macbook, however it recently met its demise. Would like to reinstall it on a Windows 8.1 laptop. I have a valid license key from Adobe. I thought I found an Adobe site with CS5 Extended install files but it's not accepting my key. Thanks!

Serial numbers are specific to the operating system: Windows only or Mac only.
There is a platform swap process to swap Mac serial numbers for Windows and vice versa. However it only applies to CS6.

The only account on my macbook is a standard account. I need to somehow get an administrator account. How can I do that, and if I do, will I lose all my data?

I got my macbook from my dad a while back, and I tried to make me the administrator. But in doing so, I somehow activated a root user, and now my account (which is also the only account now) is a standard one, so I can not download apps, etc. How can I fix this without losing my files?

Boot into Recovery (command-R at startup) and restore your system from the last Time Machine snapshot taken before the damage was done, if you know when that was. Back up all data, then boot in single-user mode (command-S at startup.) When the text stops scrolling, follow the prompts to make the boot volume writable. Then enter the following command:

You should get the following line of output below what you entered:
/var/db/.AppleSetupDone
If you do, then very carefully enter the following command:
rm !$
Now you should get the following output:
rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
Then enter
reboot
The system will boot into the Setup Assistant, as if you were setting it up for the first time. Skip the prompt to transfer information. Create a user with the same name as the old admin user. Log in and test. You may need to recreate your other user accounts, if any. The files won't be deleted.

You most likely have a 2nd generation iPod which is not capable of being updated beyond 4.2.1

.ascm files are created when you start the downloading process from a
website - a publisher, distributor, author or library. .ascm files are not
ebooks. They are a pointer or 'tag file' that tells Adobe Digital Editions
(ADE) where to find the ebook text plus some other information ADE needs to
know in order to download the ebook to your computer.
Let me assume that you tried to download an ebook (in .pdf format?) and all
you got was this .ascm file. What happened was that the place from which
you downloaded that ebook didn't tell ADE on your computer to go and get
the ebook - it just dropped this 'tag file' on your computer. What you can
do now is to find that file and tell your computer to open it with ADE. If
you're using Windows, you can do this by finding the file using a utility
program, such as Windows Explorer (NOT Internet Explorer), and then
right-clicking on the fine name. The drop-down menu will give you a choice
'Open With', and you should move your cursor to that entry. A list of
programs will be displayed. Windows might be smart enough to know that
this format is opened with ADE and give you that choice. If it doesn't,
then pick 'Adobe Digital Editions' and it will go and find the ebook and
open it for you.

If you have clicked "Never" the first time you visited the site then Firefox has created an exception and you need to remove that exception if you want Firefox to store the password.

Goto bottom of scren in iTunes there is a section called sharing when it is connected to your computer. The sharing section lists those apps where data/files can be directly imported via syncing. Click on the app you want to transfer and then add the file.
