I need to reinstall Dictionary and Calculator - Lion

I accidentally deleted Dictionary and Calculator with a third party app, and I'd like to get them back.
After trying a few things, I decided to just reinstall Lion, but the OSX recovery mode -- restart with command-r, or with command+option+r doesn't work, probably because the wireless keyboard connection is glitchy and holding down the keys may be pointless. I have to reset the keyboard each time I login.
I wish I just had a Lion install disk.
I do have Time Machine backups, but I don't know how to get those Apple Apps back, I get a message that say's I can't copy from the Library because the “Dictionaries” can’t be modified or deleted because it’s required by Mac OS X."
Any suggestions?

I just serched for OS X 10.7.5, OS X 10.7.2, and OS X 10.7 (which provided hits for a course and a tutorial)
I wonder if everything has been scrapped but Mavericks. I don't want to leave Lion because I can't replace expensive software.

I've installed Lion over Snow Leopard and all my non Apple software is still here - you may want to check if your software will work with Lion and I would definately recommend having a bootable backup in case anything goes wrong

I need to reinstall Photoshop and Premiere Elements 10 on my Windows Laptop. Where can I find the download link?

If you registered your copy with adobe, you may find download links by going to the main page of adobe.com and clicking on My Adobe and working through the links there. If they're still available there, save the downloads this time, don't just run them, since adobe only makes those available for about 3 years.

If you have the CC, you may try to restart the Creative Cloud application by quitting and relaunching it.

Your hard drive has probably failed.

  • I had erase my hardrive and need to reinstall OS X, do I need to reinstall Snow Leopard/mountain lion first before Maverick will take

I had to erase my HD, I have Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion was added for an upgrade after that, now when I try to download the OS X, my HD looks like it going to take it, then it goes no where. And now what is showing up is OS X  Maverick for a download, which I didn't even know it existed until I had to down load.  I am wondering will I have redownload Snow Leopard or Mountain lion  before the OS X Maverick will download.
    thank you

Well, you can do an erase and install via the Recovery HD:
Install or Reinstall Mavericks or Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
Booting From An OS X Installer Disc
      1. Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
      2. Restart the computer.
      3. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
      4. Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple
          logo appears.
      5. Wait for installer to finish loading.
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.

  • Need to reinstall Mac OS after lion update, how to?

    Hello guys,
I recently brought my MBP 15" and imediatly downloaded Mac OS X Lion via apple store, but I after sometime I realized that screwed up some settings during initial setup. Now I need to reinstall(format) my current OS to fix what I've done.
First question: Is there a way to change those initial setup settings (like MAC-pc name) without formating it?
Second question: if not, will I need to buy Mac Lion again to reinstall it? (cause, as far as I know, there's no such thing as a Retail Lion DVD on stores)??
Third question: How should I procede to format my current OS? Cause I got only a snow leopard Retail DVD and the restoration DVD that came with the MBP box. Unfortunately, both are not working to restore a Mac Lion OS.
I kinda know what I'll have to do: Format with Snow Leopards DVD and then download Lion via Apple store again, but I'm just wondering if there's anyother possibilities.
Thank you for your time guys. bb

Changing your computer name is trivial and does not require a re-install.  In fact, almost nothing requires a re-install.  The only thing I can think of would be if you need to reformat the partition for some reason.
    Go to System Preferences
    Go to Sharing
Make sure the lock at the bottom left is unlocked
Enter new computer name at the top
    That's it!
You definitely do not need to re-install snow leopard ever again, even if you do decide you need a Lion redo.  Just boot your machine while holding Command-R.  You will get a Recovery Install option.

  • Do Need to reinstall office and iLife if i upgrade to Mac OS 10.6?

Do i need to reinstall Office 2008 and iLife if i upgrade my software from Mac OS 10.5 to Mac OS 10.6??

if you do the "normal" upgrade, all you apps should still be available. If you did an erase first, then you will have to reinstall them. BUT, BEFORE you do the install, create a bootable backup, just in case anything happens (very rare, but why temp fate).

  • Hard Drive Died need to reinstall Audition and Sounbooth on new SSD. Both products are registered on adobe site with s/n's

The hard drive on my Dell died and the backup discs and external drives were useless in getting me back to normal. How do I reinstall these products or am I forced to purchase more?

Just reinstall them, then use your serial number to activate them.
If you already activated more than once, you may need to Contact Customer Care.

  • Need to reinstall SL and Boot Camp...

Alright, I am tired and annoyed so this is going to be short.
I had 10.5, I think I had a virus, or I possibly corrupted the **** out of my Safari, which, in turn, corrupted the **** out of my entire Leopard install. I used Boot Camp and installed Windows XP SP 3, along with 3ds Max. I did not have time to back up my XP files (as I am very lazy and it was only about a week ago.) After Snow Leopard installed, my Mac partition stopped working all together, then when I started Windows, it seemed to work fine, I left it go into "standby." When I went to bring WIndows out of standby, the screen flashed for a second, the BLue bar reloaded itself, then everything stopped working. I rebooted the machine and now I can't get past ether the Partition selection screen if I hold Option, or the BLue screen if I load the Mac partition.
I have two questions, now that I think about it:
    1) If I reinstall Snow Leopard fresh, can I do that without getting rid of my Windows Partitions, or somehow recover those files after SL is installed (the windows files)?
    2) Does this sound like my HDD is failing and/or horrible virus that killed my hard-drive?

Installing Snow will not have any impact on your Windows partition. You can erase the OS X partition if you want, and that will not cause the Windows partition to be touched. If you must erase the OS X volume to reinstall OS X, then you will not be able to recover any files. You would need to do that first.

  • Advice needed for reinstalling iTunes and restoring my library from backup

I have some issues with my PC (Windows XP) that are not related to iTunes. But I am about to wipe my machine clean. Here is what I plan to do:
    0) Sync iPhone with iTunes
    1) De-authorize my computer with iTunes
    2) Wipe my hard drive, reinstall XP
    3) Reinstall iTunes from scratch
    4) Restore my music library (my documents) folders from an external hard drive.
    5) Authorize my computer again
I know that authorizing the computer is necessary in order to play purchase songs. Is there anything I have do in order to use applications on the iPhone? Any steps I have missed here?
    Advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You better ask this question over in the iPhone forum, too - I don't have an iPhone, so don't know where the iPhone apps are stored.
Anyway - the first thing to do is deauthorize your PC.
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/authorization/
Second, make sure you have a good backup of you itunes library database.
It's the ITL file mentioned here
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1660
When you reinstall XP, make sure you use the same Windows username as before.
And make sure your exHD has the same drive letter as before.

  • Radeon HD 5770 graphics card works perfectly with my MAC Pro 1,1 and Adobe CS6. However, Photoshop CC won't read the card drivers and says I need to reinstall them and disabled 3D funtions as a result. Anyone else with this issue?

Radeon HD 5770 graphics card works perfectly with my MAC Pro 1,1 and Adobe CS6. However, I upgraded to Adobe CC and Photoshop CC disabled some filters and 3D functionality. The preference panel for Performance/Graphics Card in Photoshop CC is greyed out and inaccessible and shows this message -
"Photoshop detected an error in your display driver. Update or reinstall the driver and check Use Graphics Processor to retry."
I still have Photoshop CS6 installed and it still works perfectly. Anyone else with this issue? Is there a driver update for this compatable with my setup?
    OS 10.7.5
    Mac Pro 1,1
    20gb ram
ATI Radeon HD 5770 Graphics Card
    30" Apple Cinema HD display

after going round with this Adobe was able to find the fix....opened the "show content" folder for the application Photoshop CC (control click on the application folder) and navigate to the sniffer file and rename it by putting a tilda ~ in front of the name..." ~sniffer ", close and open PhotoshopCC...and voila, problem solved... • URGENT!!!! NEED to reinstall os9 and OSX10.4

My machine is playing up, so I have decided to wipe it and start again from scratch!
I have duplicated everything I need and now want to install OS9.2 and OSX10.4.
(I need to run the OS Classic because I have an old but excellent SCSI Scanner working via Photoshop.)
Please can you tell me how to partition(and what size)the HD into two, so each OS has it's own partition and how to install the individual OS's please.
    THANKS in advance

Restart the computer from its original disks, open the Disk Utility when you get the chance to, and erase the hard disk with a 5GB partition for Mac OS 9 and the rest for Mac OS X. Restore from the original disks, select the Mac OS 9 system from the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences, restart, and from Mac OS 9, drag the 'Applications (Mac OS 9)' and 'System Folder' items from the main partition to the smaller one. Open the System Folder on the 5GB drive.

  • Need to reinstall iCal and iSync

    Hi
I managed to really mess up my computer but...fortunately I do have documents, etc., saved. I don't particularly want to do a complete reinstall since I seem to have most of my "stuff" back on track. BUT I simply cannot get iCal and iSync to open! I would like to install these two items fresh. Is there any way I can do that without having to reinstall the whole system again?
    Thanks!
    Skitterbug70

Thanks for the info about iCal! Before I try and install it, should I remove the iCal program that isn't working properly? And how do I get all the pieces of it off my computer? I didn't do a clean install of my O/S but I am beginning to think that might have been easiest.I thought before I attempted that, I'd give partial restoration a try. I also have to be very sure I've resaved what I consider precious.
I made a couple of backups with the Backup software that came with .MAC but it doesn't want to restore right. If I wipe my hard drive and start over, I don't have a way of accessing that Backup program anyway. This whole mess is more complicated than I thought it would be. <sigh>
Anyway, I think I'll search the hard drive for iCal and delete all that I find and then reinstall it from my disks to see if that works.
Thanks for your help and kind welcome!
And if anyone knows where I can find iSync, I'd be grateful for the link! Oh and my mouse doesn't want to right click either! Where would I find drivers for it? It's an attached Mighty Mouse.
Okay, I'll quit asking! I'll drive everyone off with my questions! <grin>
    Thanks again!
    Skitterbug70
PS: I figured the mouse problem out. I forgot about using the Preference panel to change the right button to Secondary. So it works now! <grin>
