I need to reinstall GarageBand

So, does anyone know when iLife '07 comes out? Or would it be better to just go buy iLife '06. Here's the problem, I deleted GarageBand without thinking that I don't actually have iLife (I burrowed it since I got an extension pack as a gift, but I didn't have GarageBand) So, I don't really want to go and ask again if I can burrow it since I'll feel bad, but if iLife '07 is coming out soon, then I'd rather be completely updated. Any suggestions?

But by that logic, I should never buy anything...
While I realize your post was in semi jest, there are lots of beginners in these forums, so I'll quote a recent post I made...
I would also add that while no one here can predict the future, and speculation is against the ToS here, a history lesson is certainly not against the rules.
In the first half of January 2004 iLife was released. In the first half of January 2005 iLife '05 was released. In the first half of January 2006 iLife '06 was released. Today is December 15th 2006, almost January 2007. You may reach your own conclusions ... something to consider before spending money right now.
isteveus' dates may be slightly off, but his point is dead on, imo.
Today is December 25th, and the MacWorld keynote is January 9th, 2007. (If I were a n00b, and people I expected to be "in the know" advised me to buy software which many of them believed might be upgraded and cost another $80 in 2 weeks, I'd be less than pleased. That's hardly a lot of time to wait to see if history repeats [I'll leave it at that so as not to break the ToS)

  • How do I reinstall GarageBand 6.0.5 on my MacBook Pro Retina running OS X Mavericks?

I have recently installed the latest version of GarageBand on my recently purchased MacBook Pro 13" Retina. After discovering two GarageBand icons in the Launchpad, I removed the older version, only to discover that the app was also automatically erased from the drive instead of being moved to Trash. I now need the older GarageBand 6.0.5 as the newer version 10.0.1 lacks certain essential features that the older one had. However, due to the lack of a restore from Trash option (due to the unexpected automatic erase once removed from Launchpad) as well as a complete lack of installation DVDs in the newer MacBook Pros, how do I reinstall GarageBand 6.0.5?

After discovering two GarageBand icons in the Launchpad, I removed the older version, only to discover that the app was also automatically erased from the drive instead of being moved to Trash.
That is what deleting from the Launchpad is supposed to do - removing the icon and uninstalling the app. It follows the model of the IOS home screen, where you can browse and remove apps installed on the iPad or iPhone.
if you want to clean up your launchpad without uninstalling applications, create a folder in the launchpad by dragging the icons on top of each other. I have one folder apps that I have never used, but do not want to delete.
I now need the older GarageBand 6.0.5 as the newer version 10.0.1 lacks certain essential features that the older one had.
Have you a Time Machine backup of your system, that goes back in time before the time you deleted GarageBand '11? I have seen some posts of forum members, who downgraded the system back to MacOS 10.8.5, but even that did not make GB 6.0.5 appear at the AppStore again.

  • Best way to reinstall Garageband 6.0.5

    Hi,
I recently installed the newest Garageband 10 release on my Macbook Pro along with the in-app purchase download.  The thing is, I also want some of the Legacy presets, loops, instruments as well as options from the older 6.0.5 version.  I know these programs can coexist on the same system when you update, but I also did a clean install a few months back and didn't reinstall Garageband 6.0.5.
I do, however, have a Time Machine backup on an external drive that has the older application.  Here's my problem, I went through my backup and restored Garageband to its own "6.0.5" folder in my current applications.  I go to launch it and it comes up with an error saying it can't find the instruments library and to cancel or choose the correct folder.  I pointed it to the current instrument folder, but get the same error.
Are there other folders that I need to restore as well and if so, which ones?  Do I need to overwrite the current ones that are in the Garageband 10 folder or create a new separate folder for 6.0.5?  I don't want to mess up the current instruments for version 10 and start to get errors there too...
If restoring the older version from my Time Machine is too convoluted, would it be better to just reinstall the older Garageband from my installation disks?  Can that be done without overwriting the newer version and it's contents?
I have a 2011 Macbook Pro and the latest OSX Mavericks.
    Thanks!!

    Hi again,
So I reinstalled 6.0.5 from the DVD, but it didn't created a sub folder for it and only Garageband 10 was able to launch.  I guess you can't install the older one if Garageband 10 exists, only the other way around.
So I uninstalled both from my system.  Reinstalled 6.0.5 from the DVD again and was able to launch it without any problems.  Then I reinstalled 10 from the app store and that did the trick.  It placed 6.0.5 in its own folder and 10 reinstalled with all my app purchased content and is now able to access legacy stuff.  Both coexist on my Mac now.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions and help!

  • How do I reinstall Garageband from an old Time Machine Backup?

I recently had a lot of trouble with my computer crashing, so I did a time machine back up, and then wiped the computer. I figured out that it was a piece of software causing the crashing, so instead of restoring my computer, I just started from scratch. I have been slowly bringing my important files back and reinstalling some of the software. I didn't want to put everything back on here because it was slowing it down. I needed to use Garageband the other day, but obviously it was no longer on my computer. The Garageband I had originally came on the computer when I bought it, so I don't have an install disc, and it was prior to when Garageband was put on the App Store, so I can't redownload it. Is there a way to drag it from my old time machine (which no longer recongnizes this computer since I didn't want everything back on here)? I tried just dragging the app itself but it said is was missing loops and quit itself. I had the same problem with iPhoto but dragging it worked just fine.

If GarageBAnd came preinstalled, before it was sold at the AppStore, it should be on the system install disks that came with your Mac. Check, if you did not receive two CDs, one with the installer for the system, and one with applications. Use this application install disk to restore GarageBand.

You can restore the GarageBand application this way, but you will also need to restore the libraries.
hat is easier done by running the installer.
    Copy everything in the folders
         /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/
    and all missing items from
          /Library/Audio
to the corresponding folders on your new harddrive.
Then reboot and try, if you can launch GB again.

  • I need to reinstall sound lib should I wait to update to 8.0.1 till after?

    Hi
I really love the new Logic and after years of GarageBand recording I switched and just finished a simple piano , sax and vocal CD. I've just been using the piano but I noticed some problems with some of the other sounds. Piano&Strings is only piano and many of the dual sounds don't seem to be dual . There are also some missing sounds. I called Apple and the Logic Tech(he was a bit rude) said to reinstall the sound library.
Should I wait to upgrade till after the reinstall of the sound library?
    ---Thanks for any help

    Hi Bobsax,
It's pretty normal for tech support to bleat "reinstall, reinstall" but let's just check a couple of things first.
Some diagnostics for you (don't alter anything, just "check" when I've said to
Make sure the Inspector is visible
Double click on EXS24 on the track selected
Click on Edit in the top right hand corner of the EXS24 window
Play the graphic keyboard & check that you're getting same effects as when playing back a file
Under Zones down the LHS, click on one of the strong zones
Under Audio file, click-hold one of the downward pointing triangles
Select "Reveal in Finder" & check the file is there
Under Audio file, click-hold one of the downward pointing triangles
Select "Open in Sample Editor" (you may need to move windows around at this point)
Click on little loudspeaker at top of the Sample Editor window - and check that sample plays OK
In the column "Playback" check that Pitch is selected in all cases
If any of these don't work as expected, then you probably will need to reinstall the sounds. It doesn't matter when you do it (before or after 8.0.1) but I'd probably reconsider reinstalling the whole application again. I know that's 90 minutes out of your life but, if you had a problem with one part, you may have had problems with others as well and don't know it yet.
Make sure you don't try and move anything around in the installation. Allow the defaults for everything (all on the same drive). There are plenty of posts here that tell you how to move loops & samples around later and these have been well tested by fellow forum members.
Let us know how you get on.

  • Reinstall garageband

By accident my brother uninstall garageband and now dont let download again by the macstore, how i can reinstall it. I have a macmini 2011.
    Thanks

Hi, here is the reply I posted here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3600610
It turns out that you can reinstall GarageBand a number of ways.  It depends on how you got GarageBand in the first place.  If you currently have GarageBand installed, you may need to uninstall it before proceeding.
If you purchased iLife '11 on DVD, you can install GarageBand on it's own from the install DVD.
If GarageBand '11 was included on your computer and you purchased your computer before Lion was released, you can reinstall GarageBand from the Install DVDs that came with your computer.
If GarageBand '11 was included on your computer and your computer shipped with Lion, you can redownload GarageBand from the Mac App Store.
If you Purchased GarageBand from the Mac App Store, you can click on the Purchases Tab from within the store, and download it again from there.
Hope this helps provide you with some guidance.

  • Adobe Bridge is not fuctiong correctly, I need to reinstall CS2

I have Adobe CS2, I recently took a ton of pictures in Large and Raw with my Canon Camera. When I upladed then to my computer and wanted to work on the .RAW images my Bridge will not allow me to adjust the .RAW images.  I am assuming I need to reinstall my CS2.  How do I do this with out losing my activation codes.
    Thank you

No, do not uninstall/reinstall.   What you need to do is reset preferences.   Hold down the Crtl key and start Bridge.  You will get a reset window, choose all 3 options.  That should get you back to normal.

  • I received a gift card and when I redeemed it an error message said that I had some itunes files missing and that I needed to reinstall itunes.  Will I still have all my credits when I download itunes?

I received an online gift card for Father's Day.  When I tried to redeem the gift then I received a error message saying I had some itune files missing and I needed to reinstall/download itunes.  Will I still have my previous purchase credits after downloading and reistalling itunes?

You will, because the credited funds are on your iTunes account, not the application. When you reinstall iTunes just configure it with your old iTunes account and your credits will be there waiting for you.

  • I need to reinstall my computer, how do I deal with Premiere pro and After effects?

    Hello,
As my question states I need to reinstall my computer (laptop) and I'm not quite sure on how to deal with Premiere pro and After effects.
I am thinking that I need to do some sort of backup and save my projects and footage on a sepparate drive.
If I reinstall my computer, install my creative suit production premium, and move back all of my projects and footage, won't I have to re-link every single clip?
I am currently workning on several different projects and having to re-link everything is something I don't even want to think about, that would take me days if not weeks.
Another option on my mind would be to use Creative cloud. I do have the free version but I have never used it even once before and I'm not quite sure what the purpose of the cloud is and if this is a way to use it.
I have no idea how to go about this computer reinstalation without either loosing tons of work or having to re-link every single clip used.
I am videoediting only as a hobby so I have no experience working with other people and sharing projects or the like, wich is my understanding of what the cloud is for.
Any and all help would be grealty appreciated, I know this is probably really easy but ever since i got my Suit I haven't reinstalled, upgraded och changed my computer so I am just clueless as to how to go about this.
I have Creative suit production premium, I also have the free Creative cloud.
It is only Premiere pro and After effects that I am using and am worried about.
    Thank you for any help.

If the computer's running Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.
If the computer's running Windows, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

Okay, that's got one thing ruled out at least.
Can you check something for me, big? I'd like to see if iTunes launches with the Bonjour Service disabled.
In your Start menu, right-click Computer and select "Manage".
    Expand "Services & Applications".
Open "Services". (Perhaps maximise the screen to better see what's going on.)
Right-click the Bonjour Service and select "Properties".
In the General tab, set the Startup type to "Disabled":
    ... and click OK.
Restart the PC and try launching iTunes. Does it open this time?

    Hello,
That means it can find the Hard Drive, or can't find the things needed for booting.
See if DU even sees it.
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

  • Do I need to reinstall Lion because my iPhone stopped being recognized by...

Do I REALLY need to reinstall Lion because my iPhone stopped being recognized by Image Capture, Aperture and iPhoto but still shows up in iTunes?
I was on the phone with Apple Support with 5 different Advisors for more than 3 hrs today and we were not able to resolve the problem (yet). Although the problem is frustrating, it's always kind of a pleasure chatting with the Advisors. (I said kinda)
Approx 2 weeks ago, iPhoto, Aperture and Image Capture all stopped recognizing my iPhone. Oddly, iTunes has no problem recognizing the iPhone. Here are just a few of the things we tried but didn't get the apps to see the iPhone again:
    - Removed and deleted all photos on camera roll using a windows machine
    - Removed all other photos synced between my iMac and iPhone
    - Made sure an image existed on the camera roll
    - Recorded some video on iPhone and then tried to get iMovie to recognize device
    - Restored (gulp) the device followed by a restore from back-up
    - Restored again (double gulp) but this time to factory settings and kept the device as a "new iPhone"
    - Logged on as different users
    and on and on.
Also, after noting that my machine refused to send a systems report to my Sr Advisor (Jimmy) at Apple, he suggests we re-install Lion (ack).  But when we went to access the Recovery Partition we realized it wasn't there.
    No recovery partition?
Not sending system reports to Apple?
Several Apps not seeing iPhone while others are recognizing the device?
So now I wait for Lion to arrive on one of those nifty Apple thumb drives for me to try re-installing ;-(
The following screen grab shows my iPhone in iTunes but not recognized by Image Capture. URGH!

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider. You may have to leave the machine there for several days.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • Do i need to reinstall?

My ical is acting weird. When I click on week view ical disappears. When i click on month view it zooms in close i have to click it again to see the whole month. In day view if i scroll up or down...wait i can't. What's up
If i need to reinstall how do i do it and can i just reinstall ical, everything else is working great.
    Jesse

    Jesse,
I hesitate to recommend a reinstallation of a specific application because I have not seen evidence that it is an effective troubleshooting procedure. On the other hand, I would be inclined to offer a reinstallation of the Mac OS X 10.4.6 Combo for PPC which is appropriate for your Powerbook.
For what it is worth, I have occasionally noticed the zoom behavior on my system. It has happened very rarely and I have not pursued an answer. The other behavior which you have observed may be related to the way you use Sync and iDisk.
Your new questions are valid and you would benefit from starting a new post in either the .Mac Sync or the iDisk forum.
    Good Luck,
    ;~)
