I need to reinstall the OS but don't have relevant disk?

Hi there, my OS has been having LOADS of glitches lately. It started when we were trying to get wifi working on a HP printer and I was trying to reinstall the drivers. The system crashed (we couldn't get past the boot up screen) and we did a permissions repair and disk repair from safe mode. This got us up and running again but theres a number of issues since (installer.app is not there, some issues using microsoft office and a few other bits)
Anyway we've backed up our stuff and were all aready to do a reinstall from disk but now we can't as I'm running 10.7.4 (lion) and our disk is for snow leopard.
I'd really love some advice. I'm quite new to mac. We've had windows PCs for years and I'm fairly familiar with maintenance and reinstalls etc, but only bought our first macbook last year. It's like learning a foreign language, albeit a really nice one Any tips on reinstalling and maintenance thereafter would be really appreciated.

I'd do a clean install from your Snow Leopard discs. Insert Disc 1 and erase and partition your drive and install SL. No need to do a secure erase as you're not selling your computer. After the clean install, you should be able to go back to the App Store and re-download Lion (as you've already purchased it) and install Lion. Then, one by one, start re-installing your apps. Then you can begin copying the files that you've backed up.
Am I right in assuming that you don't have a Time Machine back-up? If you do, after you install Lion, you can simply reboot to the recovery partition (Command-R) and restore your latest back-up. If you don't have a Time Machine back-up, you'll just have to use the clean install. I would suggest that after you do get everything up and running that you either use the external drive that you used to back-up your files as a Time Machine disk or buy another external drive, 2-3x the size of your internal, to create a Time Machine back-up. Some would advise to use something other than Time Machine, such as Carbon Copy Cloner, but I've been with Time Machine since it came out and use it religiously. Has saved me untold number of agonies.

First, if you purchased Lion at the app store, the license is not transferable - it is forever tied to your Apple ID. So you can't sell the machine with Lion on it (there is no install disk for Lion anyway). You do need to reinstall the original OS so the buyer can purchase Lion with their own Apple ID.
As for your problem with the install disk - you do need to boot from another disk in order to erase your hard drive. Have you tried to insert it and then go to System Preferences > Startup Disk > select it and then hit restart?

Why do you need to re-install? Try to fix the problem.
I would assume a 10.2 full install would be fairly cheap on ebay.

They don't come with a physical disk these days, and haven't for several years. They come with a app to create them from a hidden partition on the hard drive, but that also requires an external USB DVD Burner. Otherwise you can go to this post to find out how to order replacement media.

Try this:
1. Open "Finder", then navigate to "Movies" on the left side. Click on "iMovie Projects"
2. Move desired movies and clips to trash, or your flash drive.
*PS* Its dangerous to have a full hard drive, I would recommend either trashing, or transferring files to another computer. Trash applications you no longer use as well.

Need to repair boot partition but don't have 'Recovery HD'

I was doing a routine maintenence and Disk Utility is telling me I have a few block counts askew. Everything seems to be working fine ( on the surface of things ) but like to be anal and would like to do a repair.
However, I don't have a Recovery partition and the App store has decided that I haven't purchased Lion - although I did, I can show you the bank statement. I installed a new hard disk not so long back ( I guess this is the reason why the App store decided I didn't purchase Lion!? ) and reinstalled from a Time Machine backup - it wasn't seemless but I'm techy enough, to make it work, just not a big fan of spending my days learning terminal commands.
I have a mid 2009 MPB so can't do internet recovery, the Recovery Disk Assistant won't let me create a Recovery Disk on an exernal drive since, yes you've guessed it, I don't have a Recovery Partition.
Am quite happy to reinstall as long as it doesn't compromise my data but can't find the 'restore my purchases' button on the app store - else if there is a less than obtuse ( and none-sketchy ) method of creating the partition HD or if someone could tell what I'm missing that would be greatly appreciated.

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928 You may have "hidden" your purchase. You can unhide it using those instructions. If you can't "restore" or "unhide" them, contact Apple Customer Support and tell them you purchased OS X "Lion" in the App Store and then they'll help you from there.

Clicking a Pages table don't give the same result than clicking somewhere in the table then pressing cmd + a.
The first scheme selects the table (height square handles displayed)
The second one select every cells (no handle displayed).
If we try to fill cells with a color in case 1, only standard cells are filled.
If we try to do the same in case 2, every cells (headers included) will receive the color.
