I need to reset an unknown password(s).

I have an unusual situation here.
We recently discovered that a person here had a database running on a workstation that was located under his desk in his office. Nobody knew about this computer. The database was believed to be running on a server in a datacenter but nobody checked.
Anyway, what has happened is the person that had this computer has unexpectedly passed away and with him went the knowledge of all the database password(s) to get to this data. We need a way to clear or reset this password so we can use the data that is in the DB. I'm not a database person but I have been tasked with trying to get the info to gain access to this DB so we can use the data. The computer is running XP Pro and is using Oracle 10g Express.
PLEASE, any help would be greatly appreciated. We are a healthcare facility and loosing this data could affect patient care. (financially, not medically)
Again, I am a DB novice, but I will get any of our DB Admins involved if needed.
Thank you.

My thanks to "AlanM" "Serch-NET" & "user536680" for your responses. We tried all your suggestions and were unseccessful.
We were receiving a "TNS protocol error 12560" after we did the "sqlplus /nolog
conn / as sysdba".
Sequence of commands:
Verified that ORACLE_SID=DBID is set properly
c:\oracle directory\sqlplus /nolog
SQL> conn / as sysdba
either get a TNS 12560 Protocol Error or Insuffecient priveleges errors.
We attempted these commands while logged into the workstation as local administrator and again with a network account that has local admin rights on the workstation.

i need to reset my security password, how do i do that?

    Hello marilyn297,
Thanks for the question. If you do not recognize your security questions, or do not know the answers, see the following article for steps on how to reset them:
Apple ID: All about Apple ID security questions
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5665
What should I do if I don't remember the answers to my Apple ID security questions?
Try answering them at least once to see if you can get them right, even if you are not sure you remember the answers to your security questions.
If you are confident you can't remember them, try one of the following:
If you have three security questions and a rescue email address
         - sign in to My Apple ID and select the Password and Security tab to send an email to your rescue email address to reset your security questions and answers.
If you have one security question and you know your Apple ID password
         - sign in to My Apple ID and select the Password and Security tab to reset your security question.
If you have one security question, but don't remember your Apple ID password
         - contact Apple Support for assistance. Learn more about creating a temporary support PIN to help Apple confirm your identity when you contact Apple Support.
If you do not see the option for resetting your questions with a rescue email address, see this excerpt:
Note: The option to send an email to reset your security questions and answers will not be available if a rescue email address is not provided. You will need to contact iTunes Store support in order to do so.

If the usual method does not work, you can also do this manually.
    # Open your profile folder, for details of how to find it see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles
    # Close Firefox
    # In the profile folder delete key3.db, signons.sqlite, and if they exist signons.txt, signons2.txt and signons3.txt
That will delete all passwords and remove the master password.

  • I need to reset my admin password, no cd, help!

    Hi community,
I recently had my faulty hard drive replaced and picked it up today. Luckily they were able to save my data but not my programs. To re-download them I need my password. I assumed it was my old password, but it's not accepting that?
I have been able to sign in with my apple id but I can't select the option that says 'allow user to reset password using apple id'.
I don't have the filevault thing on and I don't have the original Mac cd, I've lost it whilst moving or something?
    Help!

If you needed a password to download programs from the Mac App Store that may be a completely different password then you use to Logon to your Mac. Although it can be the same. Mine isn't
Resetting the password on your Mac will not help you with, or change, the password on the Mac App Store. That only resets the password for logging into and installing program on your Mac.
If when you said "I need to Download my Programs" you REALLY Meant I Need To Install my Programs to the Mac then yes resetting the system password will help with that.
Download and Install are Two Totally Different things. But like a lot of computer users they don't distinguish the difference between the two terms. Maybe you are one of those. But they are different.

  • Need to reset Airport Extreme password, but the instructions provided by Apple and the support community do not match with what I get in my computer.

I have followed the directions given on the Apple support pages and the ones provided in this community, but they do not match with what I get from the Airport Utility. According to the dorections, after starting a soft restart on the Airport Extreme, I should select the network from the menu bar item (which I suppose is the symbol for wi fi). Then it says to open the Airport Utility and select the Airport Base Station, ok up to now. But the instructions say that after selecting the base station to "click Continue". In my Airport Utility, which is the latest version, there is no Contimue. When I select the Base Station I get a bubble with information on the base and an "Edit" button. By clicking on this button, I am able to get a new window with info on the Base, inlcuding password, but I never get the window which says that the device has been reset. I need help, as I have bought a second Apple computer and need the password to set the wifi preferences, and I forgot the password for the Airport Extreme.

You're doing everything right. The problem is that the Apple Knowledge Base article is outdated and the screenshots do not correspond to the new version of AirPort Utility.
If all you need to do is find the password for the Extreme, you can do that by following this procedure. Use the Mac that is already configured to connect to your Extreme's network.
You can retrieve your existing wireless network password from a Mac you normally use on that network. Your wireless network password is stored in your Mac's Keychain.
You must first have an Administrator account on a Mac that you use with that AirPort Base Station, one that is used to connect to your AirPort network.
On that Mac, open the Utilities folder. Find Keychain Access and launch it.
In the search field at the upper right, type Airport. All the Keychain entries for your base station will appear there, as well as other entries.
Look at the column "Kind". The entry you want to select will be labeled "AirPort network password" (not "AirPort base station password" or anything else).
If you are trying to recover the AirPort Base Station password then the entry you want to select will be labeled "AirPort base station password" not "AirPort network password".
Double-click that, and in the window that appears check the box for "Show password".
You will get the following window:
In the Password field type your Mac's Administrator password - the same one you used to log in to that Mac.
Then, click Allow, and your wireless network password will appear in the "Show password" field:
    Make note of it.
Close the window, then quit Keychain Access.

  • Need to reset Download manger password

When I try to connect my Curve to the download mgr. it doesn't accept the password used for the phone itself.  Does anyone know how to reset this password, please!?
    Thanks!

Download Manager? I'm not at all sure what that is. Do you mean the Desktop Software? If so, the exact same password is needed. But, what often happens is that the password you think you are entering on the BB is not the actual password. If you have CAPS, ALT, or some other key modifier in place when you create and use the password, then you need that same thing in place on the PC keyboard. The thing to do is look closely as you key the password on the BB...what you see on the screen will likely surprise you.
    Good luck!

  • Macbook Air Lion OX S 10.7.5 Need to reset second Admin Password

I have three user accounts on my Macbook Air 11-inch (late 2011 model). Two are designated "Admin" in the "Users and Groups"
I changed one user account password, thought I saved the password hint via email to myself and now find I cannot log in either the new password or the older one. It is one of the two user accounts that are designated "Admin"
The other Admin user account works just fine and I have not lost that password. It is the original Admin account that I set up when the computer was new.
FireVault is turned OFF for the disk "Macintosh HD"
If I understand this correctly, since this MB Air has FireVault, I cannot reset the user account password using my Apple ID.
So how do I change the password?
Would I restart by selecting "Recovery disk" at book by holding "Option"?
Or would I restart while holding "Command+ R"?
I've never had to do this before, so I am a bit hesitant to start rebooting with either of the above methods.
Repeating that, yes,  I do have the master password for this Macbook Air. My software is up to date. There are two admin user accounts and I have lost the password to only one of them. Running OS X 10.7.5
    Thanks for any help.

What do you mean your iTunes won't work? And, this is the only method. You can try getting into iCloud on the computer and wiping the phone that way, but restoring the phone is the only way to get past the passcode. That document contains the only ideas there are.

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I noticed that you need to reset the Admin password to your HP Officejet 4630 printer. I am happy to look into this for you! I would recommend to restore the network settings to the default settings: Press the Wireless button to access the Wireless Status
menu.Press the button next to Settings to access the Wireless
Settings menu.Select Restore Defaults.Confirm the selection to restore defaults. You should then be able to login in with username: admin and the password is left blank. For future reference, here, is your printer's user guide. Hope this information is helpful, and thank you for posting!  “Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.”
