I need to restart - over and over...

My iBook which is about 2 years old, has been shutting off when the charger is not in, like some previous posters' machines, for the last couple of months. Which is annoying, but I can cope with that.
But just the other day, the machine went all black and would not turn on at all. When it finally did, the screen was white with some black printing, and I needed to either re-boot or shut off. I tried both, but the same message came up if I managed to turn it on again (most times it would just sound like it was turned on, but the screen would remain black).
Now I have reached another level, without doing anything but what I have mentioned above: I manage to turn it on, and it all seems ok - my wallpaper and everything appears for a few seconds. Before I get the "switch off" wheel, and "You need to restart your computer". I do, then turn it back on, and get the same message, over and over and over...
Can anyone please help, or give me some hints on whether all's lost for my iBook?
Thanks!

Hey Sasti and Welcome to Apple Discussions,
"You need to restart your computer". I do, then turn it back on, and get the same message, over and over and over...
That's a kernel panic. Look here:

The first suspects would be Airport card, added RAM and bad OS/hard drive.

  • My iMac turns to black sometimes and need to restart it and then turns black again in 2 to 15 mins... how do i solve this problem?

My imac turns to black someitmes. And I need to restart it... sometimes it works good for like 30 min, sometimes it turns black again even when i was typing in my password and need to restart it again and again untill i really angry that i have to leave it alone as i am going to break it.
So, how do i solve this black screen issue?
I can still hearing the musics and vedios and games that are playing.

It sounds like you are having a overheating issue.
As old as your iMac is, have you cleaned out the dust? Dust buildup can lead to over heating issues. Remove any and all things plugged into it including the power cord, Remove the RAM access grille. Vacuum all openings starting with the RAM access area (air intake). Vacuum all ports and plugs, DVD slot and the opening across the top of the rear of the body. Blow compressed air through all your openings and vacuum again to remove any dust you loosend. Reinstall the RAM grille. Plug in the keyboard and mouse if not blue tooth. Insert power cord...

  • Why do I need to restart Apache and Tomcat every time a java file is change

If a java file is changed and complied the changes are not reflected if Tomcat is not restarted.
The settings in server.xml are as:
    <!-- Tomcat Manager Context -->
    <Context path="/manager" docBase="manager" debug="0" privileged="true"/>
         <Context path="/cf" docBase="cf" debug="0" reloadable="false"/>
Here "cf" is my Application folder under webapps. The reloadable property when set to "true" for standalone Tomcat on Windows98 reflects the changes for compiled java files without restarting Tomcat. But on Linux 7.1 with Apache 1.3.19 and Tomcat 4.0.3 this is not working.
Also tried out with Manager Application of tomcat-users.xml with reloadable="false" as well as reloadable="true",
But when I reload the application using the command
    http://servername:8080/manager/reload?path=/appli.name
It tells me that the application is reloaded but changes in the java file are still not reflected.
Also when reloaded through Manager Servlet, Only my load-on-startup servlet is reloaded, but other java classes are not.
Is it neccessary to execute this reload command from the server itself. I m executing it from a remote m/c. and have mapped the application with a domain name virtually.
Is it the case with Tomcat on Linux with Apache. Or is something going wrong on my part.
    Can someone Help out plz.
    Regards,
    Rupali

or you can "touch" your web.xml file.
touch web.xmlor that command is for *nix systems, not sure what the Windows command is.  But basically, when you edit the web.xml, even if it means updating the last modified time, it will restart only your application and you should see the changes.

  • I sent my mbp 15" to the service center for a dead pixel. they changed the screen but now, I get notified that I need to restart my mbp and now, I just hear 3 beeps and it doesn' turn on.

I sent it to the service center last month to be repaired. It was running fine and it was perfect except for the dead pixel. Today, I got it back. They changed the screen. When I got home, I opened it and it was running fine until my screen darkened with a message telling me that I need to restart. And I turned it on again, and after a few times of black screen and restarting, it won't turn on and it beeps 3x when I try to turn it on. It became worse after the dead pixel repair. My question is what is the problem with my mbp? And how long would it take to get repaired because I'm a collge student who really needs a laptop.

When it beeps 3 times, it means that it's the RAM. now we have two scenarios here :
1 - The RAM is Dead and needs to be replaced
2 - The other one is that during shipping and all the RAM might have been improperly seated, you need to take it to the service stores and they would reseat the RAM for you and that will be an easy fix. but if the RAM is dead then they would replace the RAM if your MBP is still under warranty.

  • Can anyone help me get my iMac to reboot?  I get a gray "curtain" over the start up screen saying I need to restart my computer but it won't restart.  I just keep getting the same message every time.

Can anyone help me get my iMac to reboot?  I get a gray "curtain" over the light gray start up screen with a message that I need to restart my computer and to hold the power button until it powers off and then press the power button again to restart.  It just does this over and over again and won't restart.

Yeah, as necronym stated, it is a hardware issue and more than likely a RAM problem. Disconnect everything from the computer except keyboard and mouse and try again. If it still happens try removing one and/or swapping your RAM sticks over. Keep trying until you have eliminated all possible combinations. Just put a mark on one RAM stick so you know what have tried. If it still fails to boot properly you should probably replace your RAM, but that is no guarantee of success. • Mbp restarts over and over

my mac book pro keeps restarting over and over

    Hello,
Every macs have this temperature sensor what it does is it senses the temperature and analyses with the given operative temperature if your devise thinks the temperature is beyond that limit, your Mac will restart to lower its temperature to a moderate level. Your mac could heat up because:
    1. It might not get enough air from its fan because of dirt in it thus your processor can't be cooled. So what you can do is clean up the fans and do not block it airflow making easier for to flow throughout your system.
    2. It's a bit complicated method and do it on your own risk, if you not to do it on your own get it to apple store to get it done. The method is reapplying the thermal paste. You may need to this if your Mac is old and the thermal paste is no longer able to transfer the heat from your processor to the heat sink.
    3. Your OS X might have some kernal panics or there could be an error a simply reinstalling might help.
    4. There could some incompatible software installed in your Mac. To determine if that is the issue simply run your Mac in Safe Boot by pressing the Shift after you hear the chime.
    Hope it helps
    Thanks

Contact Apple Support or an Apple Store if you have one near you. Your battery needs to run through the diagnostic test. You can also try to put the device into Recovery mode as well and rsetore the iOS software, and set up the device as new. Follow this article on Recovery Mode:

  • Smartphone Restarts Over and Over

Hello everyone. My name is Robin. I have a Blackberry Curve 8300 series smartphone. Lately I have been noticing (a WHOLE LOT) that my smartphone keeps restarting over and over and over and over again. I don't know whats wrong and why it does this. I can't seem to find anything on Blackberry.com about this issue. Can someone... ANYONE... Help me please??
    Thank You...
    Robin

A few things could be causing problems:
    1. The media card...leave it out for some time and see if that helps
    2. You may be running out of memory. Check options>status...what is your file free?
    3. One of the apps is causing trouble...hard to diagnose which one. If the above 2 options don't work, uninstall the apps you put on the phone just before problems started. Every day, add one and see if a problem occurs.
I'm just trying to narrow down your problem, that way we only fix/try what we need to.

I have done absalutely nothing to my 4g apple ipod touch, and it over heats, won't hold a charge, and the front camera will not work. I bought this brand new in december, and i've barely used it. I've tried restarting it and everything, I honestly think this is out raging because i spend over $200 on this. To have for music and instagram. I use it about an hour a day, but i've only been using it for about 3 months although i've had it since December. Any suggestions that may help me?

    Try:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

    Hi, Jennifer.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that VoiceOver has been activated and you are unable to access your device.  I have done this myself and here are the steps to disable this feature.
    VoiceOver
Press the home button three times quickly (formerly "Triple-click home").
    Accessibility Shortcut
    Managing Accessibility features using iTunes
Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to any computer with iTunes installed.
    In iTunes, select your device.
From the Summary pane, click > Configure Universal Access in the Options section at the bottom.
Select the feature you would like to use and click OK.
    Use Accessibility features in iOS

  • Commando sensors dead at times and restarts over and over

In Dec my commando did an update which wasnt the gingerbread update. since then my phone hasnt worked right. All my sensors have stopped working unless i restart the phone but then they stop working after a bit. Due to the Prox sensor not working properly i drop calls all the time. And its restarts over and over about ever 20 min. Did a master reset and didnt help at all. Went to a verizon store and they said i had to go to a Corporate Store. Now I have to drive an hour out of my way to get to one.

    Hello dmmcallister26
Wow that's not how the Commando should be responding. The problems you described are very upsetting. Let's get this resolved immediately and save you a trip.
What software version is on the Commando? To check the software version:
From the main screen, touch menu tab
    Touch Settings
    Touch About Phone
View Information under Baseband Version & Build Number
When you completed the master reset did any third party applications reload? Were there any anti-virus or task killer applications loaded on the device? If so please remove and retest.
Please Let me know the answers to these questions. So we can get this resolved quickly.

  • My iPod touch 4th generation suddenly started restarted over and over for no apparent reason...

So, last night while I was asleep, my iPod Touch started to restart over and over. It loads with the Apple symbol, but with a little settings cog at the bottom of it, and when it get's to the password screen, it stays there for about one second, and the process starts over again. It wont respond to being turned off or on, and the password numbers are unresponsive.
I tried pressing and holding the off button and the home button, and it turns off briefly before starting up again. It turns on without the little settings cog, but as usual, it stays at the password screen for a second, then the loop continues.
I've tried plugging it into my computer, but all that does is make it do it's little 'I'M CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER' beep every time it turns on! I don't fancy taking it to Apple to repair, as I use it every day and I don't really fancy spending the money and having to wait. If any one has had any success with this issue, I would be extremely grateful.
Any suggestions would be completely welcome - even if they're not things that have proved to work. I'm pretty desperate.

Use RecBoot to kick it into recovery mode and restore it.
