Just exchanged faulty Iphone4 for new Iphone 4. appearantly the software on my "new" phone is outdated???? (dont get it) and I need to restore software to latest version. How do I do this?

The back of my iphone 4 got smashed and it worked fine for about 3 hours.
Then in the top left corner of my screen where normaly my service bars are, it said "searching".
And i could no longer make/receive any calls and my phone is completely unconnected to my 3G network.
I consistantly am getting a pop up message from apple saying that i "cannot make/receive any calls" and i need to do " a restore with tunes".
The closest Apple store is about 1.5 hrs from my house.
Please HELP!If you have the computer that you first setup the phone with iTunes then just connect the phone to that computer via. the USB cable and see if a sync can be done.

My computer was running really slow, so I decided to reload the operating system. I'm running 10.7.4 on a MacBook Air that was purchased almost 12 months ago. Instead of restoring from Time Machine I just copied my Documents, Music, and Photos to an external HD, then erased the internal HD, reloaded Lion, and ran all the updates. I re-installed iLife '11, ran software update again so it would update those apps as well. I copied the old iphoto library into my "Pictures" folder, then went to open iPhoto and the following came up.
In order to open iPhoto, you need to update to the latest version.
Please run Software Update to install it now.
So I run Software Update, and it says everything is up to date. Go back to iPhoto, same thing. Shut down and restart, same thing. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

PS, did the same thing with my music folder and iTunes, and everything there is working seamlessly.For future reference of anyone else that runs into this with a new iLife 2011 installation on Lion. The installation off the iLife 2011 DVD results in a iPhoto installation that won't open (saying it needs to be updated) and the OS X software update that doesn't see iPhoto 2011 as needing updating.
The solution appears to be to download the manual update to iPhoto 11 (v9.1) located here:

Then check the OS X software update, now it should so iPhoto in need of updating to v9.3 or so and iPhoto should open after that update is applied.
A very annoying bug that should be caught by Lion's OS X software update in the first place.. -
i need to update to the latest version of itunes, but need to download some images and video first.....it is telling me that this will all be erased if i update, but it is not letting me do anything else.....what can i do??
You have no choice but to restore the phone.
However, I'm sure you've been smart enough to have backed up your data before starting the most significant update in iOS history,right? -
Whilst updating itunes software to latest version I get runtime error R6034 and cannot get into itunes. Is there a fix for this problem?
Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

You need to purchase a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD, which requires an Intel Mac with at least 1GB RAM. Run Software Update twice afterwards.
If you're already running Mac OS X 10.6, run Software Update until it gives you the option of installing iTunes 11.

VC6. is rather old, but you can try to convert the VC6 project using the upgrade wizard of VC2012. Depending on the content of the project your code will work more or less without problems, at least it will compile without errors.
You could also go the 2nd way and create in VC2012 a project type using the wizard that is very similar to your current VC6 projcet (MDI, SDI, Dialog Based, ...). Than you replace the files generated by the wizard with the content of your project. Sometimes
this way is more successful.
But at all the automated converting success depends on the code of your VC6 project. I had both, conversions without big problems and also conversions that need a lot changes to run on a current VC version.

I updated to the yosemite system. My iPhoto says I need to update to the latest version for it to work with yosemite. The app store searches and then states the version I need is not available in the US. Currently I cannot use iPhoto. Suggestions?

If you go into the iLife support forum for iPhoto, there are a couple good threads. Basically, iPhoto can't be downloaded by anyone anywhere in the world unless the app store has it listed in your "purchases" list. The threads contain a lot of steps and it looks like this could be difficult for novices like me.

I need to update to the latest version of Snow Leapord-currently running v10.6. Because of where we live the slow download speed for such a large file has kept me from downloading the update. What can I do short of hooking up computer elsewhere?
Do you ever visit a friend or realtive with a Mac who has faster internet? Maybe the local library has Macs on a fast line. If so, get a USB thumb drive and put this link on it from your computer:

Then put this link on the drive:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1429
When you are at some place that has a Mac with a decent download speed. insert the thumb drive in that Mac and click on the first link ("DL1399") and direct the download to your thumb drive. Now do the same this with the second link.
The installer files will now be on the thumb drive and, when you get home, drag them from the thumb drive to your desktop. Install the Combo update first. -
I downloaded Yosemite and now my iPhoto has a bar across it and will not open. I need to update to the latest version. The app store says the latest version is not available in the Canadian Store. What can I do.
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always. -
I've been trying to get a book sample and a dialogue box comes up saying: To receive book samples, you need a device with the latest versions of iOS and ibooks installed and Automatic Download enabled. I have iBooks installed and automatic download enabled. I don't know if it's talking about a new version of iOS on my iphone or my laptop. You people sure like to make things difficult.

I had the same problem. It turned out the issue for me was that I had Automatic downloads turned off on my devices!
see below how to turn it on.
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores on your device.
Tap Sign In if you're not already signed in to the iTunes Store.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
Tap On/Off switch to enable or disable Automatic Downloads for each content type. -

Error message on install no printer port could be assigned
