That's a nice Pioneer DVD±RW drive - and an upgraded replacement for the original optical drive that shipped with that G5. For a finished look, you'd want to install it in an external enclosure for 5.25" IDE/ATAPI drives that converts it to USB connectivity. Because SATA optical drives have replaced ATAPI drives in recent years, the selection is getting more limited for a new enclosure, although used ones can undoubtedly be found at ebay. Here's an example of one, although it only features USB connectivity. You can also find enclosures that have both FireWire and USB connectivity, which for Mac users is beneficial. Booting the computer (if needed) by a FireWire-connected device is generally more reliable than USB booting. If this isn't important to you, then a USB-only enclosure would be adequate. The enclosure will have directions, but essentially all you need to do is plug in the power cable and data ribbon cable and then secure the drive to the bottom plate of the enclosure with the included machine screws.

I imagine you could reverse engineer what APEX delivers when you declaratively choose text field with calculator.
For example, the generated source includes an event:
onclick="calculatorPopUp_p_t01();"
These get added to the attributes of your apex_item.text() call.
Alternatively you just paste the entire generated content, escaping the necessary data.

If not, he knows the password for her Apple ID email address.

She needs to create a new email address first as well.
Tell her not to use any security questions that her ex knows or may know.
After she has created a new Apple ID, on her iPhone go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Apple ID.
Select the Apple ID and at the menu window that appears, select Sign Out.
She signs back in at the same location with her new Apple ID to register her iPhone phone number with her new Apple ID and this will prevent her ex from having access to all iMessages that she sends and receives.

It would be a good option if you plan on using iMovie and you have a desktop at home that you do most of your work on and the MacBook air is only for "mobile" editing. However, if you want to run apps like Final Cut Pro then a Macboo Pro may be a better option, but the MacBook air can still run Final Cut.

Need advice on choosing programs for laying out and editing books

I've been editing books in Microsoft Word but my clients are asking me to help do the layout and prep to take their books to a printer.
I am looking to find out what the least expensive (for now) but necessary programs I would need to purchase in order to take a book from a Word manuscript to print-ready.
Please let me know what programs I need (at a minimum) - someone mentioned InDesign and InCopy, would I need anything else?
I will also need to purchase a new laptop and need to know what the minimum requirements would be to run such programs i.e. how much hard drive space, speed and ram.
I currently have a Gateway, but it is dying.

As Daniel says, if you have InDesign and you're the only one working on the docuument, that's all you need. Think of InCopy as a hugely-stripped-down version with only the text editor in it, but you can do everything you need in InDesign (either writing the text directly into the document, or importing formatted text from Word). InDesign has great typography features and a basic spellchecker, Word has less-advanced typography but can check grammar.
The typical workflow in a newsroom will split copywriting from layout, as the journalists aren't allowed to format the page and the graphics dept can't write articles. So, the text is written in InCopy by a bunch of people, who then pass the content to someone with InDesign who imports it and lays out the issue. InCopy basically allows people to write a chunk of text that will fit in a certain space, but it doesn't care what the overall document looks like. It has some very powerful features for collaboration, but to put it bluntly, text is text - provided you get the styles mapping sorted, ID doesn't care where it comes from.
Unless you're working with this split-job-role system there's no reason you'd need to use InCopy.

Do I need to use Flex Files for a 24 fps edit?

I am shooting on 16mm film, transferring to video (with key code burn in), editing on Final Cut 4, then matching back to film.
I would like to save money by not having to create Flex Files, and was told that if I do a reverse telecine in Cinema Tools (converting 29.97 transfer to 24), and then edit at 24 in FCP, I will be able to generate (manually) my own cut list when I am done by noting the key code burned at the head and tail frame of my shots. The Cinema Tools manual even implies it would be able to generate a cut list itself?
Can anyone speak to this or tell me why this plan wouldn't work--why I absolutely need a flex file? This will be a short film (under 10 minutes) and I will be capturing all the footage for the edit, so I don't need the flex file for help with capture, and I don't mind the time needed to log key codes myself for the cut list.

Hi. It costs enough to make a difference for my very, very small budget--a flat fee each time I transfer and I am shooting 100 foot rolls so there could be up to five or more transfers. Since I am capturing everything (entire camera rolls), I'm trying to understand if I need the flex files--if the key code is burned in, can't I use that for cut list? In other words, if I don't need the files for importing, what other reasons would you strongly advise me to have them made?

OK, I am looking for a programmer, who could make me a program for my mobile.

The program needs to, when opened, change all bluetooth devices on the list, to always allow connections. So all the devices on that list are set to always allow and not always ask.
If this is not possible to do, please tell me, or if you could make this program for me, tell me too.
The program must be fast and silent. I need it to just work when opened, without a message coming up or anything, this will allow me to quickly and easily proceed with my business
The reason I need this program, is because I have I REALLY long list of devices, and it really does take a long time to change the settings to allow connection on all of them. (I need to allow connections for the specific programs I test and use, on my PC)
You can access the list (on sony ericsson) by going to: menu -> settings -> connectivity -> bluetooth -> my devices.

Bluetooth pairing cannot be overridden nor done programmatically. Ability to connect to another device would always depend on the owner of that device having maintained the BT address of your device in the list of known devices.
Bluetooth connection can be done through a program, but there is nothing to be gained from that unless the program needs the BT connection to transfer data between devices, as the connection is in use as long as the program holds on to it, and disconnected when the program exits (if not before).

I have an old annoying girlfriend that calls me at the worst times (she is usually drunk and just wants to cry). I have told her not to call, but I sorta feel sorry for her. I don't want to change my phone number nor get a restraining order. Any options?
Ideally I would like to enter her number into a "blocked" application so that she cannot call or leave annoying messages. Perhaps even a separate voicemail that says "please don't call me" and then hangs up. I also get annoyed with her texts.
I think anyone that comes up with this application (if it doesn't exist) will make a fortune.

Unfortunately there isn't any app like that. The only one I've heard of is only available on jailbroken iPhones, and that is against the EULA and should not be done.
Who knows if it will be available with the 3.0 firmware, because Apple opened up the doors a little on the creation of apps.

What do you mean by editing PDF? If you have a PDF form and want to make some form fields, in your case pages other than the first page, non-editable, you can lock the form fields on all pages other than first. You can write a JavaScript that does that, include it in the original PDF form and activate it at some point in time (like when a certain button is clicked, or certain form field gets focus). If you mean other ways of editing, like changing text on a page, you cannot protect only part of the document from that.

Whatsapp messages read by someone via iTunes? Is this possible?

My (ex)girlfriend is able to tell me the exact things I spoke about via Whatsapp. She even told me what pictures I shared with who. I heard something about synchronizing your Iphone with iTunes could enable someone (who knows your Apple ID password which I immediatly changed) to see your whatsapp messages/photo's.
Could someone verify this or does somebody have any other ideas why she is able to read my messages? In any event it has to do with iTunes...
(I am Dutch so there maybe some grammar mistakes, sorry)

Unless his phone is jailbroken, there is no known malware capable of infecting it and no known way of hacking it remotely. I'm not sure what "kik messenger" is... if that is some iPhone app that requires a third-party online account of some kind, it's possible that account could have been hacked.
Regardless of what is possible, though, you need to think very carefully about why a hacker would be at all interested in making his phone send this kind of personal information. Carefully consider the information being sent, and who it's being sent to. I'm guessing that there's no reason at all for a hacker to bother. Keep in mind that hackers these days are usually interested in either profit or activism, unless they're pranking/attacking a personal friend/enemy.

i bought some books about automotive engines by TSD training. A total of 3 books.
Earlier i was browsing the iBooks App Store and noticed these books were now part of a 14 course mechanics collection of books.
I wanted to buy the remaining 11 courses (iBooks) in this collection thinking I could just "complete my album" per say as you can when purchasing a collection of music on a given album but it seems I do not have this option. Will I have to pay for these 3 books again if I buy the collection? is there a way around this? Can I choose only the remaining books I need? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance
