I need to Sync/change my iPhone contacts but I can't select "Selected Groups"...?
This is what worked for me. Turned off icloud on iphone and computer. Logged into my icloud account at icloud.com via my web browser and deleted all of my contacts and calendars. I was then able to select selected contacts and selected calendars in iTunes.

I just bought a new iPhone but i can't restore my backup files beacuse it keeps saying "itunes could not restore backup because the password was incorrect" but I really don't know where to put the password to restore it. I really have some files that are meaningful for me so I really need help. Any suggestions anyone?Select your iDevice in the iTunes.
Choose the Summary screen (tab) and scroll to the bottom of the screen.
Then un-select Encrypt iPhone backup.
iTunes will then prompt you to “Enter the password to unlock your iPhone backup”, enter the password you set originally. -
How do I get apps downloaded from the iTunes store? Every time I try to sign on with my user id and password, I get a message stating that my account has never been used to purchase anything from iTunes before, and that I need to review my account. Yet when I click on the link to review the account, it just leads back to the store. I have tried "starting from scratch" to attempt to create a new account again, but get the message that my email is already associated with an Apple account, so it won't let me start over. I just purchased an iPad2 and am trying to get started with downloading items, but getting nowhere fast. If this is an example of how Apple does business, I may be returning the iPad2 for a refund.
Have either of you had any luck with this issue. It began happening to me today when I was trying to purchase music on iTunes. I have purchased music and games in the past and have had no problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Phone has been encrypted with a password with a backup done months ago - cant rememeber password, need to transfer phone contacts as this phoen is dying and wont hold charge anymore.
HelpEverything should live on your computer. the iphone just allows your computers content to be portable. You should have been syncing them with your computer/cloud service from day one.

Runnig 10.6.8 on a MacBook PRO.....The easiest fix if you're running Snow Leopard is to export all your contacts, then import them into something like google (I already had a gmail account), and then just use google to sync your contacts instead of icloud (via the sync with Google button in the address book settings).
Its a bit sluggish to update, but it works well. You can then point your iphone, and other iOS devices to use google for contacts too.
If Apple don't want to look after their customers, other companies will gladly do so.... -

try to make a hard reset (home button +power button for 15seconds) then restore by itunes.this is called DFU mode,once you done,can only restore the device by itunes!let me know if it works

I had the same problem and the fix was so easy that I felt a little silly after spending 2 hours with an Apple Technician. At the end of it all, what I had to do was make sure ALL music was deleted from my iPhone 5 by going into usage and clearing out the music folder. All I had to do then was turn my phone off and turn it back on again. I had not done this after my phone upgraded to the new 7.0 IOS. What's the first thing you do when experiencing computer problems? Reboot! It fixed my problem and now my iPhone 5 synchs perfectly when I had it connected to my computer. I am also on iTunes version 11.1.

When I add a contact to my iPhone 4s it does not sync to my Gmail contacts but if I add a contact directly through my Gmail account it syncs automatically. How can I make it sync both ways?
Hmmmm....But even when I do that, the two playlists go into the general music file and mix together. So I don't understand the point of a playlist if it all just gets thrown into the general mix. Seems like if you create a playlist, it should be separate--otherwise, what's the point? Or maybe I'm missing the point. Sigh...

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I understand that you have lost a contact from your iPhone and would like to recover it. I know you say you do not have a MobileMe account so I assume you don’t have an iCloud account because MobileMe is no longer in service. If you do have a backup in iTunes on your computer, you could restore your iPhone from that backup and recover any data, including contacts, from that backup. You can use the following article as a reference if you would like to restore from an iTunes backup on your computer.

Restore from a backup

I ripped a new CD to iTunes and backed up to the cloud. The songs are already on my iPhone 4S, but I can't get them on my iPad. I already connected the iPad to my laptop and selected "Sync with the iPad over Wi-Fi". On the iPad I forced a Sync. Help!
