I need to turn off sync for contacts to icloud, help?

icloud on iphone6, contacts is "OFF", but itunes syncs contacts to cloud instead of outlook. how can i change the sync to outlook? I tried all possible settings on the phone but itunes remains defaulted to icloud sync for my contacts. any help??

Log onto ePrintCenter and select the print app that you wish to pause. Click on “setup,” then “Update settings,” then choose “Pause” for the desired amount of days. You can also select the print app from the printer panel and select “pause”.

HI. Me and my dad share the same apple id. I just found it out recently since he bought a new apple device ios 8, and all his bookmarks in safari kept on appearing on my ipad and the customer guide books that he purchased for his ios 8 appeared on my ibooks. How can i stop syncing with him ? Also i want to know if the old books i have in my ibooks and photos in my photo stream have been synced to his new ipad also? I cant see his ipad since he's far away from me right now. I just turned off all options in my icloud setting, will this erase all the syncing between our devices? Please answer soon. Need to turn off iMessage for an iPhone that no longer works

My daughter broke her iPhone and the motherboard is fried. We got her an Android as a temporary phone until she is due for an upgrade in a few months. The problem is that when we try to text her on the new Andriod, on our iPhones (and any other iPhone that tries to text her) it still sends as an iMessage. Therefore she cannot receive any texts from us unless we turn off our iMessage (which causes us not to be able to receive other iMessages of course!). We went to the Sprint store, and they told us that we would need to turn off the iCloud for her phone, since Apple is recognizing it as still on and associated with her number. I cannot figure out how to do that since we can't access the phone settings. She is traveling this week alone with other family and I really need to be able to text her! She is 12. I appreciate any help.
This is an iPhone 4, with Sprint. We have 3 other iPhones, an iPod 4 and an iPad 2 on the same Apple ID account. We don't use the Cloud storage but I think the iCloud on the phone was turned on for a few things like Calendar.

She would have had to register the phone using her Apple ID/password.
Changing her Apple ID password is the only other way to fix this if you don't have access to the phone.
You can also "try" calling AppleCare.

Can i turn off sync for some files?

In dropbox and box you can decide which files to sync to the desktop. I have limited space on my computer to sync all the files that I want to keep in the cloud portion.

We recently enabled a part of this capability by enabling users to turn off syncing of selected shared folders from Creative Cloud and I've added some instructions on how to do this here:

We do not currently offer the ability to selectively sync your own files and folders unless they are shared folders but it's useful to hear that you would like this feature and we are working on how we might enable it.

Set up my Outlook sync but need to turn off sync with Sent, Drafts and deleted folders

When I go into settings it greys out these as they are already checked. So I selected Sync all email folders assuming I could turn off the already selected folders but it only allows me to select additional folders vs uncheck existing folders.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
To function properly and seamlessly, it needs to be syncing those folders all the time. As you are writing a message, it needs to be auto saving to the Drafts folder, and synchronizing to the server so as to protect from catastrophic device failure. Likewise, Sent Items need to be constantly placed onto your server as that is an equally necessary function. Likewise with deleted items (though there may be separate issues there).
Suffice to say that, if the box is already checked AND it's grayed out, then you can't affect the setting.

Permanently turning off syncing for iPad and Outlook

I am needing to find out how to permanently turn of the synching between iPad and Outlook when I connect the iPad to the main computer. I tried what was written in the manual, but I could not find out how to do the first step mentioned.

To turn off Wireless Syncronization of Contacts and Calendar for any email account try this :
On your Homescreen Go to Setup > Email Account > Highlight Email Account > Press the Menu key > Select Edit > On that Screen Scroll down and under Syncronization Options UNcheck or UNmark Contacts and Calendars > Then Save it ( You may get prompt to validate it by entering your email password )

HT2978 I need to turn off genius for apps. I do not have any apps stored as I just got my phone and I can't scroll down to access the acct info.

I just bought the Iphone 5. I turned on Genius for apps and now can't get out of it. I do not have any apps stored and I can not access the account info to disable it. How can I access the account info or turn off Genius another way?

If you have an iPhone 3GS, you can upgrade it to the latest version of iOS, 6.0.1, so any app that doesn't require a newer model of iPhone (as some apps do) should run. See:

As long as your iPhone remains activated, upgrading iOS should not be a problem. You will need a valid SIM from the UK carrier, though having a contract with them or unlocking the iPhone will not be necessary as long as you just want to use the iPhone as an iPod touch.

Turning off sync for an audiobook

In the new version of iTunes, how do I tell software not to sync a particular audiobook to my iphone after I have finished listening to it? I think I see how to turn the sync on, but not how to turn it off.

Oh, I see. It's pretty much the same as before. I clicked on the audiobooks button while I was logged onto iTunes, which lets you see what's in your library, but can't turn off the sync. I forgot you have to click the iphone button first, then go to your audiobook library. It's easy if you do the rigth way.

I need to turn off autosave for one Numbers document

I have a Numbers document consisting of a single blank cell. I use it as follows: I have 10 small spreadsheets that I have to combine each week and save as .csv. I wrote an applescript do open each spreadsheet and paste it into the 1-cell document. I then save it as .csv and close it, throwing away all my changes. This way the 1-cell document is ready for next time.
Unfortunately, sometimes Numbers autosaves in the midst of all this, ruining my 1-cell document that I never want changed. Can I set things up so that a particular document never autosaves? I tried locking it in the get info window, but then my Applescript can't paste in the other spreadsheets.

Turning off sync... deletes everything????? Huh?

I don't really need to re-sync my iPhone apps over and over again.
(Since I haven't changed anything.)
But when I try to turn off syncing (unchecking the 'sync apps' box)... iTunes 7.7.1.11 warns me that I'm about to DELETE ALL my apps from my PHONE.
Huh? I don't want to delete anything, anywhere.
Why can't I simply 'don't sync anymore'... and just leave everything else
exactly as it is???
Wow. Can't I control what I delete/keep, instead of "we will destroy everything for you, whether you want to, or not"?

Well, when you uncheck "sync applications" on the app tab, it assumes that you don't want the apps on your device and deletes them. Note that if you keep it checked, it will only sync apps that CHANGED since the last update - meaning it will do nothing if no apps have changed. What's wrong with this default behavior? - it seems to make sense to me. What am I missing?
You can also choose to manually sync everything for the first tab's checkbox.

Hi doodlebuglondon. I understood you throughout the thread as I have the same situation. I turned it on, then decided immediately to turn it back off. It then gives you the scary warning, assuming you understand under what circumstances documents got stored in the iCloud. Like you, I had no idea. But I did see 5 GB of 5GB available on iCloud Storage, which was a hint. So I opened a folder with some Pages documents, turned off Documents & Data, clicked the big scary "Delete from Mac" button. If it had really deleted my iWorks documents, like you, I would have had to restore perhaps 40 or 50 disparate folders. Whew!
Did it work out OK for you? I note you were very clear in pointing out you hadn't actively put anything in iCloud, but who knows whether Apple magically puts stuff in iCloud for you. I couldn't find that explained anywhere in Apple's "instructions", but I'm sure it's buried in there somewhere.

When I am attempting to reset my password that has been forgotten through a computer restore, iTunes gives me a prompt to turn off Find my iPad in iCloud settings. This is not possible, as my iPad mini is locked and settings are unaccessible.

I've just bought an iPhone 5S in the UK, seems like a big mistake, but luckily by law we can return goods, which is exactly what is going to happen if I cant get this to work. This is my business phone, not having it functional can cost me money.

I'm happy you figured it out and just try to keep in mind that not everyone you talk to at support will give the same advice or have the same knowledge. Just like those who contribute to these forums. Sometimes Google is your best friend.
I agree that Apple could probably make it easier, but as of yet prefer security over freedom. (sound famaliar?)
