I need to update from pages v4.3 to v5.1

i created a very important document in pages, i created it on iPhone 5swith pages for ios7. im not able to open in mav 10.9.1
OS X 10.9.1 (13B42) to be exact
it says on my mbp that i need to install latest pages software.
BUT... in app store it says its installed
in the about for my pages on my mbp it says version 4.3 so not true.
it says i can download
OS X 10.9.1 (13B42)
again though???
now it got deleted !!!! i guess from trying to open with pages v4.3 on this mbp? kinda bad, but thankfully i did a workaround to save it elsewhere, < I don't like going backwards much >
also i suppose that i will need to update numbers from v2.3 to v3.1 latest
i just spent a bunch to upgrade my ssd to 500gb and my ram to 8gb so that all this would jive because thats what these sneaky updates do now.
im not real impressed with these MS tactics by apple. justifiably ******.
i need a bit of help please????
do i need to incrementally update to get to the latest? does apple need another $19.99?

okay after reading abit more i realized that i was clicking the OLD grey cup & saucer icon on my dock.
so i went into finder then found the NEW yellow note & pen icon.
all better now  thank me and support posts n apple n peace n love

I always run a Time Machine backup before updating anything and recommend you run a backup as well. Paid apps should migrate over without any problem. If you have problems with VPP codes not transfering over properly, you can talk to your Apple SE or contact VPP for Education support and they can help you. While I haven't experienced any problems with updating, its never a guarantee that others will have the same experience.
    Good luck!

  • Will I need to update from Mountain Lion (10.8.4) to Mavericks prior to the Yosemite rollout this fall?

I am running Mountain Lion (10.8.4) currently. I rolled back to Mountain Lion from Mavericks back in October 2013 because I was having problems with it. However, I've heard there are improvements to Maverick since my initial install. My question is will I need to update from Mountain Lion to Maverick in order to update to Yosemite this fall? Thanks in advance.

If your goal is to install Yosemite upon its release, I doubt you will need to do it from Mavericks.
If Mountain Lion does not have features you need and Yosemite will, then, as WZZZ suggest, give Yosemite a chance to have any bugs worked out first.
If your concern is security, Mavericks is the current OS but Apple is still providing Security Updates for Lion, so Mountain Lion should still be good to go for a while yet.

  • When I purchased my Mac I bought it with "pages" and "iPhoto" and "iMovie" installed, but when i try to update it says that I need to update from another account, but I have only had one Apple account, what can I do?

When I purchased my Mac I bought it with Apps installed, when I go to update them, it says I need to update on a different Apple account. I have only ever had one Apple account, what can I do? The Apps are iPhoto, iMovie, Pages, and Keynote. Thanks for your help. Looking forward to suggestions.

Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
Follow the directions in this support article.

    Step 3

Right-click or control-click the line and select

  • I need to update from Mac OS X 10.5.8 to 10.7

I need to update my software. I bought a new Iphone5 and need itunes 7, but need to update software before I can do that. Is it possible to jump from Leopard to to Lion?

No; you need to be running Mac OS X 10.6.6 or newer to install Lion. Since iTunes 10.7 requires 10.6.8 and that's also a free download for people running Mac OS X 10.6, get a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store, and unless you have another reason to upgrade the computer's OS past 10.6.8, don't bother.

  • How do I update from Pages '08 to '09?

I'm trying to build a table of contents with Pages '08 and quiried google. It referenced a procedure in Pages '09.
I never got any notice about Pages '09. What must I do to get to Pages '09? I don't see it on the Apps update pages.
    I'm running Mavericks 10.9.1.

    Harvest,
That would be an Upgrade, not an Update. In general, Updates are free and Upgrades must be purchased. That was the case with iWork '09. Perhaps you just decided to save the money and continue with '08.
You need iWork '09 as a bridge to get your iWork '08 documents into shape for import to iWork '13.
You'll pay a nominal amount to purchase iWork '09 from Amazon, or similar, and then the Upgrade to the newest Pages, Numbers and Keynote will be free on the Mac App Store.

  • Need to update from Mac OSX 10.2.8...

I know, it's ancient... can I not just upgrade/update to v10.3.9 (mostly care so I can use an iPod w/iTunes)? Do I have to buy v10.3 (is this Panther or something?). Could this old OS be the reason I have such terrible luck with the internet (connecting sometimes, page loading, freezing...)? I know no one w/a mac to ask to help me, so it sits doing nothing... thanks! Maybe I should just give up.

    Welcome To Discussions Christine!
Some information in addition to the previous great replies.
Panther, is no longer available directly from the Apple Online Store, as Tiger 10.4.x is the most up to date OS.
In addition to AppleRescue, if you know what to look for, a Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs, or a Full Retail Version, of the Tiger Install DVD, can also be purchased rather inexpensively, at some online Apple retailers, such as Amazon, eBay, FastMac, etc.
Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
Panther is only on CDs, not DVDs.
Unless purchased from AppleRescue, the discs should look exactly like the images in the above links, and not say Upgrade on them.
    Additional info in these links.
Using OS X Install CDs/DVDs On Multiple Macs
What's A Computer Specific Mac OS X Release
As previously posted, once Panther 10.3.x is installed, you can use the 10.3.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the final version.
If your Mac does meet the Tiger System Requirements, and you consider installing that, and then use the PPC 10.4.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the current version.
Additionally, "Tiger ships on a DVD, but if your Mac doesn’t have a built-in DVD-ROM player, you’ll need CD media. When you buy Mac OS X Tiger, you qualify to purchase Tiger CDs for only $9.95."
Download the Media Exchange Program Order Form Here.
Orders must be mailed by June 22, 2007.
AppleRescue, also sells a Tiger installation set on CD.

  • Need help updating from reader 9 to reader 10

I have a Vista PC that currently has Adobe reader 9.
I have found out that Reader 9 is no longer supported by Adobe so I won't be getting anymore security updates.
And because I have a Vista machine I can't upgrade to Adobe reader 11.
So when I try to update reader 9( hit check for update) it does not give me the option to upgrade to reader 10
    So:
    1. How do I do a good uninstall of Reader 9?
Can I do so by just uninstalling from the list if programs?
Do I need to remove any additional files and or folders?
    2. How do I install Reader 10?
If I go to the link for reader , it has reader 11 which I can't use.
I just use reader to read PDF docs I don't create any so not thinking I need the whole reader program

    HI Txpell,
Adobe Reader 9 can be uninstalled normally by uninstalling a program from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.
To install Adobe Reader 10 please visit, http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/
Choose the operating system, Language and the Acrobat 10 from the drop down.
Let me know if you have any other question

  • Need to update from OS X 10.4.11 to most current OS – confused!

I have a Mac Pro (2x2.66 Ghz Dual Intel Xeon, 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM), running OSX 10.4.11 and want to update my operating system to the most current for my machine (the most up to date?). I have bought CS5 and can't run it on my current OS cos it is so out of date. Can I jump straight from my old one to the newest? Or do I need to upgrade in stages? Many thanks you any help in advance! FLB

Purchase the $29.00 retail Snow Leopard DVD. Backup all your files onto another drive, preferably a bootable backup. Then boot from the Snow Leopard DVD, use Disk Utility to erase the startup volume, then install Snow Leopard.
How to Install OS X Updates Successfully
    A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot from your current OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and later.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
    C. Important: Please read before installing:
If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before installing the update unless you will boot from this drive and install the update on it. Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've restarted.
You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-party system software modifications, or if you have modified the operating system through other means. (This does not apply to normal application software installation.)
The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or other interruption occurs during installation, use the standalone installer (see below) from Apple Downloads to update.  While the installation is in progress do not use the computer.
    D. Download and install update(s) if updating:
    Use Software Update, or
    Download standalone updater(s).
    E. To upgrade from an earlier major version:
    a. Boot from the Snow Leopard DVD. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    b. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    c. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for PPC Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    d. When formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Complete the OS X installation.

  • HT4623 Need to update from 4.3.3 to ios 5 or 6 but don't see the 'Software update' on my General settings please help

I have tried everything I can think of to update my iPad folloowing online instructions but am stumped at the 1st hurdle with the settings - general - there is no Update software anywhere in the various lists.

Assuming you have iOS 4.3 as your tagline suggests. You'll need to connect your iPad to a Computer running iTuines (Can be a Mac or a Pc doesn't matter) and follow the update prompts.
You'll probably want to back up the iPad before updating though.
