  • I need to upgrade my ram very urgent plz help !!!

I have MacBook Pro 13 inch early 2011, i need to upgrade my ram, right now i am using 4gb ram, i searched on apple support it says max 8 gb ram and base 4gb , but if i install 8 + 8 = 16 gb ram will it work perfectly ?

Yes it will work and is compatible with your make and model computer early 2011,13", 2.7 ghz,  i7 MacBook Pro I believe what Niel meant by this satement ~Yes, unless there's a problem with the specific modules you get; the computer supports 16GB.~  Was if the new modules eg 2x8 are in themselves a problem or defective. Hope this helps you somewhat

  • I need to upgrade my RAM...

My computer is running slow so I want to upgrade the RAM. I have a
Mac Pro Quad-Core MC250LL/A Mid 2010 system with 4 memory slots that have 1 GB of RAM each. My question is can I just upgrade that one slot and if so, how much RAM can I install in that one slot?
    Thanks in advance.

The Mac Pro 2010 5,1 uses memory by the each, not in pairs. The largest module you can ADD to your existing ones is 8GB, because the 16GB DIMMs are Registered DIMMs and require all the others be removed.
The 8GB module is about the same price as two 4GB modules, so the 8GB module is what you should buy. Buy from a Vendor who promises:
    "It works in your Mac,
    or your money Back."

Click here.  This tells you what you would like to know.  You could also install the free Crucial System Scanner Tool which will scan your system to find the exact configuration you currently have and what you could upgrade to.
Let me know if this helps.

  • I have a macbook pro 13" early 2011 and i need to upgrade the ram

my plan is to upgrade to a ssd and upgrade the ram but i'm not sure what kind of ram (pc3-8500/10600/10660/10666/12800) and how much i can put in it..
on apples website it says i can upgrade to a maximum of gb of ram http://support.apple.com/kb/SP619?viewlocale=no_NO my mactracker software says this:
    Maximum Memory
16 GB (Actual) 8 GB (Apple)
so how much ram can i install, and what kind of ram.. i know it has to be DDR3....

Apple only supports 8 GB, but you can install 16 GB on your computer. You have to buy SDRAM DDR3 1333 MHz. You can buy RAM on OWC > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3_133 3MHz_SDRAM

    Hi Chefjeegar
Yes that screwdriver kit has the #00 phillips screwdriver that you need to access the RAM and hard drive. You'll also need the Torx driver to change the hard drive. http://www.amazon.co.uk/LINDY-Computer-Technician-Precision-Torx/dp/B0000934GO/r ef=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1348072554&sr=1-1
For a good explanation about RAM look at the page on OWC http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/MacBook/DDR2/
In the UK Amazon or eBay might be your best bet for cheap RAM but read the description and reviews carefully. For a little more expensive but with a better warranty is Crucial UK http://www.crucial.com/uk/
A good resource for working on your MacBook is ifixit.com http://www.ifixit.com/Device/MacBook_Core_2_Duo
Is your external hard drive formatted for Mac? To transfer your current hard drive I like the free application Carbon Copy Cloner. It makes a bootable copy of everything on your hard drive http://www.bombich.com/index.html Check that it's set up right by booting up from the external drive. Put the new drive in your MacBook, then format and partition the new drive. Then use Carbon Copy Cloner to transfer your OS back to the new drive.
Yes, you can put an SSD in the MacBook.

Yes that is your best bet.  Without looking at it too closely double check your options here:

  • I recently upgraded my 2007 vintage iMac from the Leapord OS to Mavericks. Now my system runs extremely slow when I start my apps. I only have 2G RAM. Do I need to install more RAM or is this something else?

I recently upgraded my 2007 vintage iMac from its original Leapord OS to the new Mavericks OS and now its really running slow. I've run disk utilities to confirm everything is ok from the hard drive standpoint ... but am wondering if this is simply a memory issue. I only have 2G of DDR2 SDRAM installed. Is there a minimum recommended for the Mavericks OS?  Any other recommendations?  Time to launch any app has more than tripled from what it was before the OS upgrade.

    A combination of things:
    1. Slower CPU and GPU.
    2. Not enough RAM installed.
    3. Upgraded from Leopard.
I would have backed up my files, erased the hard drive, then reinstalled Snow Leopard. Downloaded Mavericks and upgraded Snow Leopard directly. Then I would restore my files.
Upgrade your RAM to at least 4 GBs if supported by your model.
Backup your files, then do the following:
Install or Reinstall Mavericks or Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • I have a Mac OSX Version 10.5.8 When I put in my disc to upgrade to snow leopard version 10.6.3 it tells me I need atleast 1gb of ram memory to download. what can I do

I have a Mac OSX Version 10.5.8 When I put in my disc to upgrade to snow leopard version 10.6.3 it tells me I need atleast 1gb of ram memory to download. what can I do

Your iMac can take a total of 2 GBs of RAM Max.
    Maximum Memory
    2.0 GB
    Memory Slots
    2 - 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM
You will be able to install OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and it will run, but you may not be happy with the performance overall.
OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and later OS X versions use more and more CPU, GPU and RAM resources.
OS X 10.6, by itself, will use between 2-4 GBs of RAM to run quickly, smoothly and efficiently.
Start running additonal applications and your iMac is going to struggle.
Just fair warning if you notice that your iMac is running slower after installing OS X 10.6.
    Good Luck!

  • Noob needs help upgrading RAM

    Dear All,
I have a Macbook 5,1 late 2008. I want to upgrade my RAM to the maximum since I sometimes use VMware Fusion to run windows 7 for school stuff. I know Apple says my Mac is 4GB max but some of these discussions have mentioned its really 6GB maximum. I was looking at this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104165 . It has the right number of pins and low latency. Or do I have to buy the MAC specific computability memory like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134833
    Thanks in advance,
    Pat

    Dear Kappy,
Thanks for getting back to me so fast. Here is the info from my system profiler.
    Model Name: MacBook

    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 3 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
Do you think the RAM I first linked would work correctly?

  • DDR RAM 2GB in DC7100

    Hi!
    May I install to DC7100 SFF (PE218ET) BIOS 786C1 v.01.05  DDR RAM 2*2G Micron PC3200R-30331-z?
Maybe I need to upgrade BIOS?

    Hi:
The maximum amount of memory you can install in each memory slot is limited to 1 GB.
A BIOS update won't change that.
You can install 2 x 2 GB in a dc7600 even though the specs say it is not supported, but you can't on a dc7100.
