I need to upgrade to OS X v.10.4.8 to use the new adobe creative suite.

i have a imacG5 and i just upgraded it to Tiger and added RAM but apparently I need to go to 10.4.8 to use the new adobe creative suite.
this is what Adobe says
# PowerPC® G4 or G5 or multicore Intel processor
# Mac OS® X v.10.4.8
So - I have a power iMac G5....where/ how do I get upgraded to 10.4.8 ?
I'm sure there's a real simple answer...I just couldn't find it online.
Thank you
laurita

  • Hi, I previously used a PC with the purchased Adobe Creative Suite 6, but it is a disk drive, and I need it for my Macbook Pro. Is there anything I can do?

Hi, I purchased the Adobe Creative Suite 6 on my student pricing for $399. I only had a PC at the time so i've purchased a disk drive PC version. As a student in the Graphic Design industry I've been urged to become a Mac user, thus I now own a Macbook, but cannot use my Adobe programs. Is there someway I can change the license for the PC suite to Mac? It's quite expensive, and a waste of $400 to keep in on a PC I don't use.

  • Need help with upgrade from Adobe Creative Suite to PS CS4

My old laptop with Photoshop on it crashed and I ended up purchasing a new laptop.
I'm trying to reload my PS CS4.  I am using an upgrade from an educational Adobe Creative Suite Premium to the CS4 and when I loaded it on my old laptop I had to get installation help through customer service, but now customer service will not help me since it is CS4.
When installing the upgrade, it tell me to select the product I already own.  I own the educational full creative suite, but am only upgrading the Photoshop.  I chose Photoshop CS and tried entering the serial number for the suite.  It tells me that the serial number doesn't match the product chosen.  Of course the only products I'm allowed to choose from is Photoshop CS, CS2, or CS3 and not Creative Suite Premium.
The other serial numbers on this CS is Golive CO and Pagemaker Plug-in.
I was told there are Adobe customer service reps here on the forum, please tell me what it was I need to do to get my Photoshop installed.
    Thanks

i wasn't aware that you could get a ps4 at an upgrade price using an older creative suite produect.  i searched online and found this thread (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/476009) which makes it appear that was not a valid upgrade path.
but, if you're confident that was a valid upgrade path, i'm pretty sure something will need to be done on adobe's end and no amount of manipulation, on your end only, will work.
your best bet would be to get help in this forum from an adobe staff member like jeff wright who is very knowledgeable and goes out of his way to help adobe customers.  to that end, if i were you, i would start a new thread mentioning his name in your title and in your initial post explaining:
you have the educational Adobe Creative Suite Premium and purchased a photoshop cs4 upgrade years ago that required adobe support help to install years ago.
that worked well until a recent computer problem forced you buy a new laptop and you are now trying to reinstall that ps cs4 and again need support help but have been refused help because cs4 is not current.

  • HT4623 Why I cannot use the new feature of phone after I upgraded to ios 6???

I have already upgraded to iOS 6, but why I still cannot use the new feature of phone??
I cannot reject calls by sending them message.  What happen??

While ios 6 is compatable with the iPhone 4, many of its features are not available for the 4. The features need the 4s or 5. See here:
Turn-by-turn navigation is available only on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPad 2 or later with cellular data capability. Flyover is available only on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 2 or later, and iPod touch (5th generation). Cellular data charges may apply.
Siri is available in Beta only on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad (3rd generation), and iPod touch (5th generation) and requires Internet access. Siri may not be available in all languages or in all areas, and features may vary by area.  Cellular data charges may apply.
FaceTime video calling requires a FaceTime-enabled device for the caller and recipient and a Wi-Fi connection. FaceTime over a cellular network requires iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, or iPad (3rd generation) with cellular data capability. Availability over a cellular network depends on carrier policies; data charges may apply.
Offline Reading List is available on iPhone 4 or later, iPad 2 or later, and iPod touch (5th generation).
Made for iPhone hearing aids require iPhone 4S or iPhone 5.
Panorama is available on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPod touch (5th generation).
Find My iPhone and Find My Friends enable you to locate iOS devices only when they are on and connected to a registered Wi-Fi network or have an active data plan.

I use this laptop as my home computer but do graphic design on it quite frequently for side jobs but I'm still on OS 10.6.8. My adobe Creative suite is a (not so legal) CS5 that had to be configured to work on this machine.
At work I am about to upgrade my 2010 iMac to the newest OS version and install the new Adobe Creative Cloud suite on it in June. I would like to get the full version, so I can run it on my MacBook too (you are allowed to run two computers with the software purchase) but will this even be possible with my older machine? I can't afford a new one...it doesn't even feel that old.
Also, if it IS possible, then how would I go about uninstalling my CS5? There was quite a bit of tinkering done - not by me so I don't know exactly what - to make it work.
So what should I do? Should I take in to a Mac specialist? Thanks in advance.

  • Our CMS does not support new version of Firefox. Can I have the "downgraded" version of Firefox AND the upgraded Firefox both on my Mac, so I can use the older Firefox to manage my CMS?

Essentially, the CMS we use to manage our website (mainstreetartsfest.org) is Sitefinity, and apparently it doesn't support the newest version of Firefox. And, from what I understand, this version of Sitefinity is not being upgraded at the support level - we are now being asked to spend $$ on moving to a new CMS to support the browsers. Chrome, Safari also a problem. Only IE works, and we all have Macs. I want to know if we can have the older Firefox AND the upgraded Firefox both on our computers so we can use the new Firefox for general browsing, and resort to the older, 3.2 version for managing the CMS. I know I can download a previous version - but I would rather not replace our new version of Firefox in the process.

You can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com

I have a G5 mac using ver 10.4.11 and a newer mac using ver 10.8.4 these are networked. using the new mac i looked up my my photo on the old mac. It then said you need to upgrade your library which it did. Now the old mac can not open the photos and say that I need to upgrade my I photo to a newer version. The old mac has no more support from apple in software update so I am not sure where I should go from here. can I use new soft ware with the old mac

The other part of the upgrade message was a warning that once you upgraded you would no longer be able to open the library with the old version which is exaclty what you did and what happened when you choose to continue
The iphoto library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iphoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process may take several minutes depending on the number of photos in the library. Cancel or upgrade.
So now your choices are to not use iPhoto with the previous version using it onky with the newer version, restore your backup from before you did this upgrade or purchase iPhoto Library Manager and use it to rebuild the library using the older version of iPhoto (instructions are on their web site) thereby downgrading it (without projects)

    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase a redemption code at the Online Apple Store: OS X Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. Use the code to redeem a download of Mountain Lion from the App Store. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion

No. Mountain Lion Client and Server are two separate purchases and downloads. You will need to upgrade to both.
