  • The church's iMac was registered by an employee who is no longer here. We need to update the OS to Lion and much of the software. Without his password, do we need to wipe and reinstall the OS? If so, how do I do that?

The church's iMac was registered by an employee that is no longer at the church. We would like to update the OS to Lion as well as some of the software. Since we do not know the password, is there a way to reset it it? Or do we need to wipe and reinstall the OS, register and then update? If so, how hard is it to reboot?

OK, thanks for that. Look on the original OS X install disc and see if that say Leopard 10.5.x or Snow Leopard 10.6.x. You advised in the last post the system is running 10.6.4, which is Snow Leopard. The most up-to-date version of Snow Leopard is 10.6.8, once we get your password changed we can work on getting it up-to-date.
So to change the administrators password  you will do the following:
Insert the Snow Leopard Install Disc into the SuperDrive and restart the computer , when you hear the Startup Tone hold down the Option key.
    Choose the SL Install Disc
    Choose the language
Select the Utilities Menu - Select Password Reset
Select your Mac OS X hard disk volume.
Select the user name of your original administrator account. (you can change this later!)
Enter the new Password (remember to re-enter in the second box)
Quit the app by hitting the Command - Q keys
Quit the Installer (Command - Q again)
    Restart

  • An epic proposal for Adobe: We need an AdobeOS and AdobeTower

    Open letter to Adobe.
    Dear Adobe,
Since May of the year 2000 I have been using your programs, first with with a much appreciated student discount, later as a working professional upgrading to a full license. In the last 13 years I personally have spent at least $20,000 on your software, from student licenses all the way to Master collection and now "creative cloud". Since that time I must also admit that 75% or more of my income has been a direct result of using your software for which I am grateful to your software developers. I fondly remember customizing the neat bouncing circle icons on my MAC, I remember when you bought Flash from Macromedia, I remember the joy of receiving my first boxed set of programs, and I remember the first time a color picker popped up in DWR on my PC when hand coding CSS.
I want you to know that today I lost 10+ hours of my life, never to return, dealing with the CC and CC2014 problem created by your failure to live up to the promise, hype and allure of "Creative Cloud". As a direct result and for the first time in my life as a multimedia professional I truly considered switching back to CS6, never updating ever again and perhaps finding alternative programs to use.
After my momentary lapse of reason reality set in.
Rather than troll your forum in utter negativity:
I would like to propose the following (which are based on observations I suspect your developers and many Adobe customers will agree with):
Develop your own hardware and OS, complied complete with every piece of software that creative professionals need to produce digital work.
Yes, that is what I am proposing: start making computers that are specifically built to run your software with the right RAM, Video cards, Monitors, and drivers. Of course, aptly named something like 'Adobe-IvoryTower' and 'AdobeWindow', on your own proprietary OS, most likely called AdobeOS [AOS]... and ship them to customers without them being loaded with garbage like 'Mcafee virus scan' and absurd things like the 'Vaio media browser' or 'iMovie'...
When you do this put together a panel made up of actual customers who have used your products for at least 5 years.
Listen to that panel and allow the democratic process to shape your product to be what it should be, what we all need it to be: proper, efficient, streamlined, and effective.
Expand into the realm of smart phones, tablets, and mobile devices using a 'paired device' structure where as the software and hardware is always compatible and able to sync.Yes, I would buy an AdobePhone that can record conversations with clients and developers, link them to a project folder and update my task list log in AdobeTimeTracker, all with 1 tap.
Compete with SkyDrive and Google Apps by releasing similar products.Yes, we want AdobeWrite where pure UTF-8 text pastes over properly between file-types when writers send over copy because cleaning incompatible formatting 'should be' extinct.
Cheer loudly as you watch your NET worth Quadruple when other software manufacturers begin to produce Adobe OS versions of programs like Rhino, Solid Works, and Pro Engineer.
Accept praise from your customers and finally forever close down the support forums because yearly updates simply auto-download onto systems which you know 100% are running properly.
Most would agree that there are 3 primary types of devices, these are:
Entertainment toys (computers and devices used in average homes simply to entertain, they come bundled with a bunch of software that every professional spends hours uninstalling)I only know about this because every time I buy a computer I spend too much time turning it into a workstation, valuable time I will want back on my deathbed.
Business workstations (Anyone who has Master collection installed and uses at least 4 pieces of Adobe software on a daily basis, 7 during a month, and nearly all during a year)I know allot about this, this is what we need you to build.
Government systems (I suspect the CIA has enjoyed Photoshop but see no place for a separate system here)I know nothing about these besides the fact they exist.
As such the need for a complete system should be evident to you, clearly it is evident to at least one customer.
For anyone reading this letter imagine the joy of the following:
Complete Hardware and software compatibility, finally.
A robust system engineered by and for creative professionals.
A unified file standard which is truly useful to everyone.
Affordable upgrades and systems, appropriately tiered to usage needs and production standards.
Not having to read through the obscure install error codes or 3 month old un-resolved forum topics.
The convenience of having a master system that really does include everything CC was supposed to.
An OS with truly useful software and productivity tools, configured, pre-installed, and always working.
Updates which we can actually click "yes" on and then go to sleep, trusting that nothing will go wrong.
Even if Adobe did not break into a completely proprietary OS and Hardware set up, it still makes great sense to have an "official subsidiary/branch" that custom builds and delivers pre-reconfigured/bundled MAC and WINDOWS systems to customer's desktops and laps...
Thank you for your consideration in this matter, sincerely,
    Christian Žagarskas

  • An Important AS3-based Multi-Platform Framework for Developers and Adobe

Hello to all developers and to all representatives at Adobe!
We're all fortunate for Adobe's progressive thinking and their immensely helpful programs to battle against device fragmentation.  In order to advance our efforts, we, as developers, must also permit our creative juices to flow to allow the cup of opportunity to runneth over -- not just for our and Adobe's benefit, but for the benefit of businesses and consumers who demand innovation.
There are, however, barries in the shape of human form that deter potential developers, businesses, and consumers from embracing and capitalizing on such a powerful platform.  These obstructions aren't only coming from behind walled gardens; unfortunately, they're entrenched within our own camp.
Ignoring rules of optimization and taking careless shortcuts, combined with not possessing an optimized and simplified alternative to targeting a wide range of browers and devices in one fell swoop, are the ammunition needed for skeptics to plant seeds of doubt about such a useful and future-proof ecosystem.
Much like any platform and object-oriented programming language, the Flash Platform and ActionScript 3 are powerful weapons that must be wielded with responsiblity, or risk creating wounds that, in the minds of consumers, aren't easily healed.
And since this is OUR responsibility, I've decided to take on that burden...which then became a challenge...which soon became the innovative answer we so deperately need.
As an offering to my fellow developers, and as a proposal to Adobe -- the company in which I'm devoted to -- I've created an OOP-based framework that simplifies the process of developing optimized applications that cover a broad spectrum of browsers and devices.
It's called Cross Model View Controller™, or XMVC™ for short, and it offers the following features:
-Imagine using one base source code -- which you build just once -- to target a multitude of platforms: from smartphones and tablets, to desktops and browsers, and even to smart televisions.
-Your concrete View classes determine the layout of components and animations for each targeted device; once your base classes are built, your concrete View classes are the ONLY classes that require alteration (see diagram).
-Utilize the flexibility of the XMVC UI Components to work across ALL devices and browsers.  You simply specify the platform type (mobile, desktop, browser, or television) in the concrete view classes, and the XMVC UI Components do the rest.
Example: The XMVC Container (which holds child elements and incorporates scrolling): When set to "mobile," it incorporates touch scrolling; when set to "desktop" or "browser," it incorporates a scroll bar; when set to "television," its scrolling is controlled by remote control directional events, as well as incorporates virtual directional buttons.  And this is all from ONE instance of the XMVC Container component; this eliminates switching out various types of containers for each targeted device.
-Animations are created using Greensock's TweenMax platform, for lightweight, optimized animations.
-For complete orientation control, you can assign custom animations for orientation changes.  It even incorporates an Upside Down view for Android devices.
-You can allow users the preference of turning animations on or off, with a flip of a switch (litteraly).
-XMVC automatically removes event listeners for better Garbage Collection processing.
-XMVC accepts various data structures, including XML, PHP/AMFPHP with SQL, SAP, and HTTP Web Services.  It would be incredibly beneficial to allow incorporation of ColdFusion, LiveCycle Data Services, and BlazeDS data structures, as well.
Necessity is indeed the mother of invention, and possessing and utilizing a powerful tool is necessary to progress our efforts in reaching an abundant amount of individuals and entities.
The primary functionality of the framework (as displayed in the diagram) is complete; improving and adding additional XMVC components are the primary objective at this point of the development stage.
Very soon, I will upload the source code to an outlet (such as Google Code) for developers to download and experiment.  Within the same timeframe, anticipate demo apps within App Markets to test on your devices.
Adobe has such an incredible development community, and my hope is that XMVC provides these developers, as well as Adobe, an incredible amount of leverage to persuade businesses, consumers, as well as other developers to embrace and utilize a platform that can withstand the change of time.
Imagine businesses excelling beyond their self-imposed barries due to the robustness and flexibility of a platform and framework that can function in any environment.
Imagine liberating consumers to allow them to use your applications whenever, wherever, and on WHATever they desire.
Think of the possibilities of quickly submitting applications -- with very little, or no, alterations to your programs -- once device manufacturers like Windows Mobile, webOS, and Symbian finally accept Adobe AIR.
If there are developers out there who share the same sentiment, and if there are Adobe representatives who find this framework intriguing and effective, by all means, contact me.
The possiblities are endless...so must be our efforts.
    Onward and upward,
    Adrian-Cortez Jackson

  • Enqueued messages with Tuxedo /Q and WTC

    Hi everyone,
I have a Tuxedo /Q that through a WTC puts messages in a JMS queue in
a Weblogic. During a period with heavy load ( +- 200 messages per
second), the total messages in the destination queue starts to
increase, deprecating the application response time.
    Some configurations
    • The queues are in non persistent mode
    • The connection policy in WTC and Tuxedo Domain is ON_STARTUP
    • WTC with Retry Interval and Block Time 60, keep alive and
    keep alive wait 0
    • Tuxedo 8, Weblogic 10g in RedHat 5
    Some analysis information
    • There is available threads in the Weblogic to process the
messages, so it isn’t the problem.
    • There isn’t any enqueued packets in the network between
    tuxedo and Weblogic server
    • There is low use of CPU and memory in all machines
I think that WTC connector hasn’t sufficient throughput to process
the messages in the destination queue.
    Any suggestions????
    Thanks!

    Hi,
If you are saying you are using a tBridge (JMS bridge component of WTC) redirection to take messages from Tuxedo /Q and place them on a JMS queue, then the problem is that only a single thread will process the redirection. In other words, a single thread is started to perform tpdequeue() operations on the Tuxedo /Q queue, and then put the message on a JMS queue. If you need more throughput than a single thread offers, you will need to add another redirection in the WTC configuration.

  • BPM Developers and Process Modelers

Hi, I am currently looking for Metastorm Developers and Process Modelers. The projects are located in NJ and NY. I am having a hard time finding people with this experience and I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction. Any guidance is greatly appreciated!
    Thank You!

    Thanks for your feedback.
We want to implement a SAP BPM scenario in a finance process for the VAT Tax reporting. So basically, our accountant needs to run some SAP transactions along with some manual outside steps. Then the supervisor will perform some checks and finally the tax manager needs to approve it.
There is some interactions with SAP but only for a small part of the process. What we want to achieve is to be able to see the key performance indicator for our process. But at the moment this is not delivered with SAP BPM. I've heard that this may come in the next release end of 2009, but in the meanwhile I'm wondering if other people have been able to implement some customization in Net Weaver or have found other alternatives to be able to monitor their process adequately.
    Thanks

  • Ribbon only to content author and administrators

    Hi,
Recently I have taken up SharePoint 2013 exam and I got bit confused for one of the question i.e.
Adventure works uses a SharePoint publishing site to host their public facing website at
http://www.adventureworks.com.The website gives external users the ability to register and sign in to the site to buy Adventure works products. You notice that publicly registered users see the SharePoint ribbon.
You need to ensure that SharePoint ribbon available only to content authors and administrators. What should you do?
    A) In the SharePoint project add and Empty element and then use the <HideCustomAction>tag to hide the ribbon
    B) Open the current site master page in SharePoint designer, place the Sharepoint:SPSecurityTrimmedControl control around the div tag with the s4-ribbonrow ID. Set the PermissionString
    to ManageSubWeb.
    C) In the SharePoint project. Create a user control and add the following code segment to hide the ribbon
    Page Load method
    If(UserHasPermissions(SPContext.Current.web.CurrentUser))
    SPContext.Current.Site.CommandUIVisible = true;
    Else
    SPContext.Current.Site.CommandUIVisible = false;
    D) Open the current site master page in SharePoint designer and then place Sharepoint:SecurityTrimmedControl control around the div tag with the s4-ribbonrow ID.Set the permission
    string to AddAndCustomizePages
    E) Open the current site master page in SharePoint designer, find a div tag with the s4-ribbonrow ID and the remove all of the contents of the div.
I feel that both options D and E are applicable but I couldn’t come to conclusion.
Please share your opinion the same.
    Regards,
    Sudheer
    Thanks & Regards, Sudheer

Believe  the option D is correct, removing all the contents in the s4-ribbonrow ID will hide the ribbon for all users.

What do you do to manage workstations of workers who need admin rights on their workstations to do their jobs (such as developers and software testers who are frequently installing and uninstalling software, running scripts, compiling code, editing registry on theei workstation etc.?The software developers have admin rights and UAC disabled so UAC prompts do not interfere with running scripts on their local systems unattended.Since the company does not have any centralized virtual machines for users, the users are also creating their own local Windows and Linux VMs with VMWare or Virtualbox running on their local workstations so they do snapshots and rollbacks and bypass security policies while doing development and testing. That is the main purpose of these VMs, but it's likely they are also being abused to bypass security for...

  • For BlackBerry developers and Apps developers !!!

    Hi,
This message is to the BlackBerry people, I mean the developers, the people related with the development of BlackBerry Z10.
There is no doubt that you guys have done a fab work developing Z10. It is the best operating system in the market as of now. I have been a blackBerry loyal customer since 2010. I used Torch 9800 and currently Bold 9900 and planning for Z10 for obvious reasons.
But, many people including me are disappointed with the apps in the Z10. Come on guys, this product has been in development since an year now. Everyone including you guys know that to survive in the current market you need to focus and invest more on the apps.
Have you seen any major difference between in the OS of google, from Ice cream sandwich to Jellybean or the OS in apple iphones, from 4S to 5 ??? The answer is "NO", but they have worked on is apps and just apps.
I love BlackBerry devices and at the same time I want it to prosper like the other devices in the market. Z10 has an outstanding OS platform, kindly utilize this in developing more apps and attracting more customers. This will hold benefits to both, customers and BlackBerry company.
I just wanted to share my feelings regarding it and hence I did. Hope BlackBerry will look into it and hire more app developers around the world and won't let their customers down.
I know there will be a 1000s of mails and such messages going out to you guys on daily basis, but I am writing this because it makes a difference and adds to the count.
    Have a good day.
    Thanks
    Anshul

yes you can't change battery and display on software because it's hardware may be release another model aspect your requirement from blackberry ok!

  • Bodhi Linux Arch-based build, need dev(s) and supporting team members

    Hello forum,
First, apologies if I have posted this topic in the wrong thread. I am writing to inquire as to whether or not there are any other Arch users and/or developers that would be interested in assisting Jeff Hoogland with his new distro, Bodhi Linux, and working on an Arch-based build. Bodhi Linux is a Ubuntu-based distribution that uses Enlightenment as the desktop environment and is focused on promoting the light weight, beauty, and speed of Enlightenment while remaining minimalist. Jeff has plans to release a Fedora-based version of Bodhi in the future, as well as an Arch-based build, but he would need some help, specifically with the OS disc itself. He can work on the Enlightenment side of things. Is there anyone interested in working on such a project? If you haven't heard of Bodhi Linux already, please visit http://bodhilinux.com/

Greg_S. wrote:ANOKNUSA, you think it's wasted energy? "Throw-away distro" is it?
Sorry if this seems unduly harsh.  I wasn't trying to troll, but merely reiterating what others here have said.  The Bodhi Linux developers are certainly within their right to direct their efforts in any way they wish.  However, they have two serious conceptual flaws they need to consider and overcome:
    1)  Are the devs planning on releasing both x86 and AMD64 versions of Bodhi?  Even if not, this still means that once the project gets going, they'll need to build the entire E17 compilation three times a week; if so, they'll need to do so six times a week.  This is very tedious and time-consuming for a group of people working in their spare time, with no financial backing or chance for compensation.  Naturally, it leaves very little time to maintain the rest of the repos, discuss/research/pursue further development, track bug reports, etc.  The latter is worth noting, since
    2)  The devs will need to keep track of bugs and development roadmaps for three different distros, each with their own kernel patches, boot/init protocols, etc.  They'll need to build separate packages and "tune" separate repos for each spin, provide a forum(s) able to handle questions regarding each spin, with devs and moderators specializing in each spin.
This is an awful lot of work to simply "showcase E17 and give it the 'love' it deserves."  The Enlightenment devs are the ones providing the weekly snapshots on SVN; the Bodhi devs just package them.  If promotion of Enlightenment DR17 is the ultimate goal, it could be better accomplished by establishing and promoting a PPA for Ubuntu, a PKGBUILD or PUR for Arch, and a (name of unofficial repo here) for Fedora.  This would make an up-to-date version of E17 readily available, and require only promotion and packaging on the part of the maintainers.  Bug reports could be sent directly to the Enlightenment folks with no need for an intermediary, as well as to the appropriate distro, rather than sending them to Bodhi which must then check to see if the problem is one extant in the base distro concerned before applying efforts to fix the problem.  Just think: you get a bug report and begin to reseach it, only to find out it's a problem you inherited from Ubuntu which in turn inherited it From Debian [unstable].  Where does that leave you?  If you do manage to fix the problem, then the only decent thing to do would be to share whatever patch/code changes you made with the folks upstream anyway.
I ain't trying to be a killjoy here, and I'm definitely not trying to discourage the commitment and spirit of contribution the Bodhi folks obviously have; just the opposite.  Besides, it does look like you found at least one Archer willing to help you guys, so whatever ends up happening, I wish you all good luck with it.

  • HT1751 I need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes (it won't let me update). So, how do I copy or back up my iTunes library of over 1,500 songs? Can I use a Flash Drive to do so?

I need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes (it won't let me update). I have IE 8 on Windows XP, and iTunes 10 something. In my Program files list I see iTunes and iTunes (2) and even iPod and iPod (2) where a tech had to back up and do this for me before. I'm just trying to fix it all. I keep getting the "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below." I can even run a search and find the folder, but it gives me the same error message. I was planning on using the Microsoft Fix-It tool  to help uninstall then Reinstall iTunes. But I need to backup my library. So, how do I copy or back up my iTunes library of over 1,500 songs? Can I copy the folder to desktop or can I use a Flash Drive to backup my music? I don't want to do anything until I know for sure how I can backup my songs, and then reinstall them into iTunes. Thanks for any help.

Ok, thanks that helps. I don't have an external hard drive though. What about backing up through 'the cloud'? I'm just wondering since my husband syncs his iPod to the PC through iTunes and he's worried that he will lose all the songs on his iPod if the library is lost from iTunes and he tries to 'sync' it up again. I'm not exactly sure how to  'copy the entire iTunes folder' either. I kinda suck at this unless I have step by step instructions, which I haven't found yet on iTunes help or other sources.
The only way I know how to back anything up is by going back to a restore point, etc. (as stated before, we don't have an external hard drive.)
    Thanks for the info.

    Dear Experts,
I need invoice number and delivery number in order confirmation.
how can i get the delivery number an invoice number.
    Program name: RVADOR01
    Regards
    Ahmed

    Hi
In the Order confirmation Only sales order details will be there
You better write a PERFORM  statement in Script and in the subroutine fetch the Delivery number and Invoice number with the following links and display them in script
    LIPS-VGBEL = VBAK-VBELN
    LIPS-VGPOS = VBAP-POSNR
    VBRP-AUBEL = VBAK-VBELN
    VBRP-AUPOS = VBAP-POSNR
You can also can use the VBFA table
using Prev doc type = C (order) and Subsequent doc type = J to get the Delivery
and Sunsequent type = M for getting the Invoice Number
see the sample code for subroutine
    REPORT ZMPO1 .
