I never updated my macbook air 8.1, and I can't find it anywhere. What do I do?

My operating system is 7.0.4, I want to update to the new mavericks, but my compter says I need to update to 8.1 before I can do that. However, I cannot find 8.1 anywhere, what should I do?

Your post actually doesn't make sense.
"7.0.4" refers to the current version of iOS -- it has nothing whatsoever to do with the Mac's Operating System version.  Niether does 8.1 - that means nothing in either an iOS or OS X (Mac) context.
The current version of the Mac's Operating System is Mavericks, OS X 10.9.1.  You can see what version you are running by clicking the Apple logo in the menu bar, then "About This Mac".
iOS is the iPhone - iPad operating system.

  • Update for iphoto ....and i can't find my library or any of my pictures!

    Hello Wayne,
well recently did the update for iphoto ....and i can't find my library or any of my pictures! I tried the same procudere that you suggested for numbers and pages, but that did not work. I don't even see the previous iphoto...Do you have any suggestions for this?
    Thank you.
    Edna

Sorry but you need to give details to get help. What version of iPhoto? Of the OS? What upgrade did you just do? Who is Wayne - never sevens anyone named Wayne in this forum? What was the procedure tat was recommended (I doubt that any trouble shooting hints for numbers or pages would apply to iPhoto)?

  • HT4623 There is no "Software Update" visible between "About" and "Usage" in General Settings, as shown in the example. And I can't find it anywhere else, either, so I am stymied at the first step of trying to update. Ideas?

I am stymied at the first step of trying to update my IPad software, as there is no "Software Update" choice visible in General Settings. And I can't find it anywhere else, either. Ideas?

Settings>General>Software Update is only available on iPad with IOS 5 and above.
If you are using IOS 4, you need to connect to iTune (computer) to update software.

  • Updated my Macbook Air to Yosemite and now IMessage won't open pictures

I updated my Macbook Air to Yosemite a few days ago and since then IMessage has been acting up. It won't let open pictures now. A picture comes through titled "IMG_2882" but when I click on it, it comes up with a description of the image - the type of image, when it was last modified, etc. I click the 'Open with Preview" option and nothing happens. I'm regretting updating to Yosemite now. Is anyone else having this issue? I have no idea how to fix it. Please let me know if you have any ideas! Thank you!

If it is the third party apps crashing - try downloading another app - any free app is fine. See if that resets the other apps.

  • Since updating my iPhone 4 the FaceTime app has gone and I can not find it anywhere in my iPhone/setting/laptop. Any suggestions how I get it back?

Since updating my iPhone4 the face time app has gone. I can not find it anywhere in my phone, phone settings or in my back up. Any suggestions as to how to get it back?

You access Facetime through the Contacts app - there is no Facetime app on the phone.

  • In the summer of 2013 I updated my Macbook Air to Mavricks and my solid state hard drive crashed and had to be replaced. Has this issue been fixed and is it safe to upgrade?

Please help! I don't want to have to get a new hard drive. My warentee has now expired. Is it safe to upgrade? The service person I talked to said that it had happened to quite a few MacBook Airs.

  • ITunes on new Macbook Air is slow and laggy after a few minutes. What could be causing this?

I recently updated from PC to a 2013 Macbook Air i5 with an upgraded 8GB of memory and I copied over my iTunes library. However, when I've been using iTunes for a few minutes (specifically after editing the info of one of more songs), it gets very laggy and slow. I then have to quit iTunes and re-open it for it to run smoothly again. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

Ignore all other sounds except at time frame  3 to 5 seconds in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0edpFdRZyFo
If your macbook is making that noise being woken from sleep mode, its normal and the noise of the laser tray. in the superdrive resetting, disk or no disk.  (ignore the fact the video says 2010 macbook, superdrive makes the same sound).
Is that the noise you are hearing?
Ah yes, heres  the SMS sensor sound >  is that it?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66xMoTEFH7Q
Thats a protection sound of the HD heads parking themselves to protect the HD from damage.  Are you moving the Macbook at all when you hear the sound?

  • Settings widget on iPad Air has 1 alert but can't find it anywhere in settings nor figure out how to remove it.

Update to iOS 8.0.2 on my iPad Air flagged my Settings Widget with 1 alert.  I cannot find the reason for the alert anywhere within Settings and have tried to restart (i.e., power and touch ID) several times to no avail.  Would appreciate anyone's help trying to ID the problem and instructions on how to get rid of the alert, please.
    Thanks!

OK. Got it. sounds like the alert is hung after updating to 8.0.2. Based on past experience, it will not hurt anything, and will likely go away on its own after a bit. However, a couple of troubleshooting steps:
Open Settings app > General > Software updates. Verify that you have indeed installed 8.0.2
Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

  • Hi. When I tried to download updates for my Iphone 3G I lost all my music on my iphone and I can't find it anywhere on itunes. Any ideas please?

I just can't seem to find all the music I bought on itunes since I downloaded updates for my iphone today. I followed the suggestions in the support area, but it's still a mystery where it's gone. Any ideas please?
    Thanks

I take it you didn't transfer purchases BEFORE you attempted to update your phone?  If that's the case and you live in the US you can look at your purchase history and re-download the purchased music using iTunes. If you're outside the US, you're out of luck.

  • I downloaded a program and it never shiowed up in the download box. I can't find it anywhere on my computer. I tried it a few different times and from different sites but still nothing. What can I try next?

I downloaded a program several times and from different download sites. It never showed up in the download box but it said all downloads have completed. I searched for it anywhere on my computer but the search produced no results.

I suppose there is a possibility that you have security software than may be blocking quarantining or even deleting the downloaded file.
Normally if Firefox says in the download manager that the file is downloaded then it is on your computer, and if you right click you should get the option to open the folder the er the downloaded file is in.
#Use keyboard keys '''Ctrl + J''' to open Firefox's download manager
#* or use ( press''' alt''' to display the menubar) Tools -> Downloads
    # in the downloads window find the file entry you are looking for and right click
    # use the option ''open containing folder''
    * see [[downloads window]] <-- clickable link --
    * and [[unable to download or save files]]
Please post back with how you get on.

  • After firmware update: I lost all my contacts and I can't use contacts. What can I do?

Yesterday I did update to Firefox OS 1.1.0.0 rev. 01061. Then all my contacts were missing. So I tried to add contacts again but was impossible to use the contacts application because always that I pressed the done button, after filling contact information, nothing happened, the contacts list was still empty. I tried importing contacts from SIM card, the application show me a progress but finally the contact list was empty.
Is it possible to downgrade the firmware?

    Hi jsuarez_m
Thanks very much for the log file you provided before this, I really appreciate it and I apologize for my late reply. I believe we have found this bug and provided a fix in a new build, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=938564, but I don't know when this will become available in an update to your device.
You can try to factory reset, in the meantime, but you will loose data and have to re-configure your apps even if the contacts app is not restored to normal.
I suggest that you return the device to the shop where you purchased it, to let them know that the official update caused the problem and request that they fix the device. I apologize for this inconvenience.
    Best Regards,
    Michelle Luna

  • After updating my iPhone 5s to iOS 8 I took a picture in the camera app. While it showed up in the camera app (in the window where you can preview photos) it didn't show up in my photos, and I can not find it. What could have happened?

I want to know where this photo is. I've looked through all of my photos, only to not find it.

Is it under Albums > Recently Added?

  • TS1702 I couldn't download a pre-purchased album, so I cancelded the order hoping I could just buy the album. Now it says that I've purchased all of the songs and I can't find them anywhere. My account was never charged either. Please help!

I have looked everywhere in my iTunes for this and I simply can't find them. It says that I have already purchased them, but I haven't. Please help, I have waited a long time to be able to use iTunes again.

  • After an update, my default media folder changed and I can't find my music anywhere

I noticed in advanced options that iTunes was not drawing from my portable hard drive which I had set as the location of my iTunes and all iTunes media.  I tried to change the path and now I can't find any of my music.  Please say that there is a way to find this again.  I tried to "reset" the path, but still no luck.  All songs have the exclamation point and prompt "can not locate"  - when I try to locate them, I can't find them.
    Thanks
