I no longer can access itunes store

I can no longer access itunes store, although itunes library works ok. Have tried de-installing and installing, have downloaded all updates. Can access store on my phone, but not on mac?

Hello ergmac,
It sounds like you cannot load the iTunes store on your computer at all but it works fine for your other devices.
I have 2 articles that I recommend to help you troubleshoot that connection.
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1368
And:
iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297
That is, assuming you have restarted your computer already. If not, restart it and try again to see how that works.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,
Sterling

I have windows 8.1 and cannot access itunes store even creating a new apple id. With other users on the same computer I can access itunes store. How can I solve this?

i had the same problem before using a fresh install of Windows 8.1.  I have resolved this issue by running the program compatibility wizard.  This I did by right-clicking on the iTunes icon in the desktop, selecting Troubleshoot compatibility, waited for it to detect compatibility issues and when presented with the following options: 1.) Try recommended settings; 2.) Troubleshoot program, I chose the latter.  When asked what problems I noticed, I checked the following: "The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won't install or run" and "The program requires additional permission"
After that, it tired to resolve the issue, and provided the necessary settings to run iTunes.  Now it's running flawlessly.  I have Avast anti-virus installed though.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

    Hi there Matheoconnolly,
You may find the troubleshooting steps in the article below helpful.
Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors

    Check for hardware issues
Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. • Can access itunes store

I cant access the itunes store in itunes its just ifnitly loads and nothing happens..I then did a test connection in itunes and its connecting to the internet but then also says secure link to itunes store has failed..Im not really sure what to do

Sorry, but your version of iTunes is, as confirmed by a number of people here who've been a similar situation, now too old to be able to access the iTunes Store. There have been too many changes to the iTunes Store for your old version still to work. You will need a newer version of iTunes which would require you to upgrade from Windows 2000 to Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7. If you can't for some reason upgrade Windows, then you're not going to be able to use the iTunes Store.

I got a new Windows 7 allienware desktop this week, and I installed iTunes at the first time. I can access iTunes store via the software at the first day I installed, but I can't access iTunes store on my Windows desktop since yesterday. It always says there is a problem and I need to close iTunes when I try to access iTunes store. I tried to uninst all the related files of iTunes and reinstalled, but it still donesn't work. Now I can't download anything via my new desktop. What should I do to fix it?

Looks like we are not alone...... Must be some problem with the software! Hope it can be solved soon!

  • HT1296 how do you update instagram app on iphone & access itunes store from iphone?

my iphone can no longer directly access itunes store and upgrade apps, help!

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then the steps half-way down this page should let you reset them : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down the HT5312 link above to add a rescue email address for potential future use

  • Can no longer access itunes store to update apps through itunes OR on iphon

I just updated to the 2.2 software on the iphone. Ever since, any time I try to update an application (or even check for updates) I get a message saying itunes can't connect to the store, check my network connection, etc. I get the same problem if I try to check for updates directly from the iphone or from itunes on my computer. I see many people are having problems with the itunes store. I assume that since I am having the same problem on my phone and on my computer, and since so many other people are having problems, that this is some kind of problem with Apple and not with my set up. However, I have not seen anyone else mention problems connecting from their phone the way I am.
Other than upgrading to 2.2 there is nothing different about my system - accept I did also try upgrading to the newest iTunes. The problem happened with version 8 and with whatever the current version is. I am using Vista - I never had any problem like this before.
Any help or comments would be much appreciated.

I am also having this problem, i can no longer search for app's updates through the latest release of itunes 8.0.2 and also the latest iphone 3g update version 2.2 - this has been going on for about 15 hrs now. If i try to update through my iphone the the page eventually times out or comes up with "unable to connect to itunes store"., If i try through itunes itself, the windows comes up with the progress bar type thing and accessing itunes store, then after a while just comes up with "iphone sync complete, Ok to disconnect" - but i'm not syncing my iphone i'm trying to update the apps.....
Come on Apple get your act sorted out...

  • Can no longer access iTunes store nor log into Apple ID account

I can suddenly no longer log into iTunes store and my over 10 year old Apple ID log in information seems to have been corrupted.
Apple ID and pasword are unrecognized, and what's weird, when I get directed to My Apple ID to reset the password,
I do NOT receive the promised email to reset that password.
Last window will say "Email has been sent. When you receive your sign in information, follow the directions in the email to reset your password.
    - but NO email is coming!
    HELP!
Do not want to set up a new account, since I would hate to lose all previous purchases etc...

Update: after some internet and support research, I was finally able to fix the Apple ID problem!
It seems the issue traces back to setting up a new iPhone 4S and signing up for iCloud in the process a couple of weeks ago..
It seems it was a conflict of email addresses, associated with both the origianl Apple ID and the new iCloud account (iCloud orces you to set up a new account, since only email address Apple IDs work on iCloud).
Anywasy, found this workaround fix online: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAu0TMFmf50
    - finally, no more endless loop of email verifications & wrong passwords!

  • Can no longer access Itunes store

Sudeenly yesterday I cant access the Itunes store.
When I click on the store, I just see the scrolling barbers pole at the top of the screen and the message ""Accessing Itunes store."" It never gets any further
Ive disabled all my security, ive done the winsock reset and restarted my PC ((many times) I downloaded the LSP list from windows, and the list is huge, with many suppliers listed. It would take days to try and update all of that.
SURELY there is an easier solution to this problem. Clearly Im not the only one having it.

I have iTunes 7.6.1.9 installed. It has been working fine until four days ago. Now, I can no longer connect to the iTunes store. According to the diagnostics data, iTunes thinks I am using a proxy server. That proxy server is what I use when I connect to my corporate LAN via a VPN. I connect off and on, but, it is not my permanent Internet connection. How can I tell iTunes that I am not using my proxy server? Yahoo Music Jukebox and my AntiVirus program also can no longer connect to the Internet. I suspect the proxy server issue with these as well as they have been working fine until a few days ago.
