I no longer use this current email address... but still want to use Thunderbird for another email address

I tried to change this current email to another email address... with no luck... then I trashed the old email... and downloaded to set up another email address... with no luck... it kept going back to the old...
Please assist..

'''File|New|Existing Mail Account'''
No menu? Press alt.
Or right-click an existing account, select '''Settings''', and in the window that pops up, click '''Account Actions''' at the bottom, then '''Add Mail Account'''.
Or press the button with three horizontal lines, hover the cursor over '''New Message''' (yes, really!) and select '''Existing Mail Account''' from the pop-up menu.
Changing one account to another is rarely successful. Always better to add an account rather than modify an old one. That's how Thunderbird is designed to work.

I have created an Apple ID for my daughter with her own gmail address as the primary email address, but I want her Apple ID and primary email address to be an iCloud email address. How can I do this? I can't set up an icould email address for her without first creating an Apple ID right?
I'm not good with computers so please explain in simple way...:)
I also wonder what the best way is to set up accounts for children in a family. I dont want them to be able to purchase apps etc through the parents accounts, also some things we like to share as a family and others we don't want to share. Is there any good. clear, simple explanation from Apple Support about these issues? Or best to go to Apple store and go to genius bar or one to one advise?
    thanks

You can set up an iCloud account which makes the iCloud email address you choose the Apple ID and thus the login for it:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22283348#22283348
though I have to say I think it's more sensible if the ID is another address, both for security reasons (so people don't know what the login is) and as a contact address from Apple if the account were to stop working and they needed to contact you. So personally I would to to System Preferences, enter the GMail address which is an ID, and then choose a nerw @icloud.com address.
If she has her own iCloud account she will need either her own computer or her own user account on your Mac to be able to make use of it. You should note that under Apple's terms of use Apple IDs are only available to children of 13 and over.
As to purchasing apps, this is nothing to do with iCloud: it's iTunes, and the login can be different. So you can all sign into the same iTunes account but have different iCloud accounts. Or she can have her own iTunes account if she is of suitable age (credit card needed for purchasing apps).
If you have other children you should be aware that any one Mac or device can create only three iCloud accounts - this is tied to the serial number, not the user account, and once reached cannot be bypassed. You can of course sign into an iCloud account created on another device.

Yes, your entire family can use one AppleID just for purchases in the iTunes and App Stores, then each of you can use your own unique AppleIDs for all other services (iCloud accounts, iMessage accounts and so on).
You can have as many AppleIDs as you wish (or have email addresses for), and you can use a different one for each service Apple offers, if you wished to.
By doing what you suggest, you also limit the number of AppleIDs with payment information associated with them, so there is only one single AppleID that can be compromised that way.  Keeping one AppleID for purchases and another (with no payment information tied to it) for everything else is not a bad practice for anyone to follow.

You can ONLY buy from the itunes store of your country of residence ( proven by the valid billing address on your credit card) and ONLY while inside the borders of that country.

  • HT204053 I've got a new Iphone but still want to use my Ipod, can I have music and apps on both and if so how do I update them both?

Hi, I've just upgraded to an Iphone 4s but still want to use my Ipod. Can you have music and apps on both and if so how do you keep them updated? Is there a step by step guide anywhere? Thanks

"Can you have music and apps on both "
    Yes.
"how do you keep them updated?"
    Not sure what you mean.
"Is there a step by step guide anywhere? "
    Guide for what?
Sync each of them as always.  There is no need to do anything, just sync them to your computer.

  • Relative path for Download directory folder.I created a firefox profile and i wanted to use this profile in multiple machines.I wanted to use a relative path for download directory with respect to the profile folder.I need this on Linux machines

I have a use case where I need to use different download directories with different firefox profiles.I need to use this profiles in multiple linux machines.
I need to have a relative path to my download directory with respect to the profile folder.
Ex: I have a selenium test which opens a website and downloads it to my machine.I want this downloaded file to go into some specific folder relative to this profile folder. How do I do this??

That is not a practically empty xinitrc - that file only needs one line: exec WM.  Other things are entirely optional, and some of them very useful, but I'd encourage you to stick with the simplest xinitrc that will do what you require.
Is slim involved?  Probably.  That is the source of many problems.  But to start narrowing this down, I have 3 suggestions:
    1) temporarily (at least) change your inittab to default to runlevel 3 ... actually, is it currently set to 5 or 3? if it is currently 3 that would explain why slim doesn't start.
    2) at a tty in runlevel 3 use "xinit" instead of "startx".  Startx is fine most of the time, but it is essentially just a complex wrapper for xinit.  That complexity can often iadd useful functionality, but it *always* makes troubleshooting more difficult.  So for now just use a vanilla 'xinit'.
    3) remove dbus-launch from your exec line in xinitrc.  This is done by console-kit so it is redundant and potentially problematic.  Further BOTH of these are taken care of by slim, so I'd even suggest getting both a jump start on being ready for slim and simplifying troubleshooting by removing both of them.  Just make that line "exec openbox-session"
    Edit: adding one more:
    4) temporarily switch out openbox-session for openbox.  I suspect the reason feh's setting of the background is getting overridden is due to a script or setting in openbox's autostart settings - many of these are only invoked when "openbox-session" is called, while "openbox" starts *just* the window manager itself.

  • Changed from BT to TalkTalk but still want to use ...

I've just left BT to go to TalkTalk (went live on 23/3). When I set up my new account, I asked TalkTalk if I could use my old bt email address. They said yes and with their tech help I set up my email using apple mail with BT as the outgoing service provider and TalkTalk as the incoming. This worked fine for about a week! Yesterday, half way through the day, I got prompted for a password for my btinternet account the message reads "Enter the password for user “fiona.wemyss” on btinternet.com POP server “mail.btinternet.com”". I duly filled it in (this was happening to me almost constantly before I left BT and would finally sort itself out for a few weeks and then happen again) but it keeps coming back saying its the wrong password. I deliberately chose the same password for my TalkTalk account as for my old btinternet account so as to 'make it easier'.
I still maintain a separate business email account with BT which seems to be working fine on my Mac, as does a sub-account that I set up against the btinternet account.
In addition, I just can't get email at all on my iphone. I tried setting up a new mail account using mail.btinternet.com as the incoming mail server and smtp.talktalk.net as the outgoing mail server, but it just doesn't work. The incoming server wants a password authentication (I'm using the one mentioned above) and I wonder if this is the problem, but can't seem to delete the need for a password from my settings. The server port I'm using is 110. The message I get is 'The user name or password for BTaccount is incorrect'. I can't even get access to the business email account!
Am I asking too much to want to use the old btinternet account? Does BT automatically close the account when you leave? If I bite the bullet and go entirely with TalkTalk, how can I make sure I get emails forwarded from the btnternet account?
    Sorry for the long email.

Your old btinternet e-mail account will revert to a basic webmail only account once you leave BT Internet.
POP SMTP and IMAP access will be blocked.
    You have two options.
Ask for the old e-mail address to be migrated to your existing BT business broadband  account, as a sub address.
Pay monthly for BY Yahoo Premium mail, which will allow full access.

  • HT5868 So how do I "untrust" a trusted computer that I accidentally trusted but still want to use for charging?

I see that "Trust" a computer on iOS7 is indefinite (learned). How do I undo that on a computer that I want to use for charging but do not want to trust?

Open iTunes, select iTunes Store from the sidebar, click on the Support link under Quick Links. Post an email explaining the situation to seek assistance.

  • I just got my daughter a new macbook pro. She currently shares my wires apple id for iTunes on her iTouch. I need to set up an email account for her. Is there any way to set up a new iCloud email account but still use my wires apple id for iTunes?

I just got my daughter a new macbook pro. She currently shares my wifes apple id for iTunes on her iTouch. I need to set up an email account for her. Is there any way to set up a new iCloud email account but still use my wifes apple id for iTunes?

No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.

  • Email- My email keeps downloading old email long ago deleted by my computer, but I phone now has 1,300 plus email, and no way to delete in bulk. how can i dbulk delete and stop old emails from downloading. i use gmail.

This is a tough way to get help using the Iphone pushing us onto each other as users to do thier support work. !
My email is ging me fits , as it downloads so many old old email i do not want to use it to get email/

Sounds like you have your computer checking a POP account and your computer thus gets copies from the server and you don't have your comptuer set to delete from server once downloaded/deleted thus they are still on the server.  Thus when your phone checks the server they are there.  POP accounts were never intended for this mobile age.

  • Mail has correct outgoing smpt address, but Comcast will not accept it for the correct email address. Only on one of the computers (MacBookPro Lion)

Always worked until this morning, and works on a different copy of MAIL on the other computer. When I try to send mail using my comcast email address, as always, Comcast rejects that email address for the smpt address that is correct and has always worked before. I can't find any .plist files for MAIL to delete, either.

i cant remember the answers to my security questions.  i have reset my password and added the recovery email account but still cant figure out how to purchase new content. it asks me the same security questions. i also have a temp pin. how do i fix this?

If you've just added an address to your account then it will be an alternate/secondary email address, a rescue email address can only be added by answering 2 of your security questions. If you already had one on your account then go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email addressthen you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down this page to add a rescue email address for potential future use : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
