  • Need help - Error while updating the firmware of Muvo Slim using the recovery t

    Hi ,
While I am trying to update my Muvo slim firmware using the recovery tool it throwd up an error. And from then onwards if I am trying to power it up it won't.
If I again try to update the firmware, it throws up the error that "Unable to Write to Device: Device Time out".
I am afraid that my Muvo slim got bricked. Can you please help me in recovering the same.
PS: My PC OS is Windows XP.
    Thank & Regards
    ksraghava?

On my XP system, the last time I wanted to reload the firmware, I had to remove all of my Creative software programs,?and then revert my Windows Media Player back to 0 and then use The Recovery Tool. It is a bit of a pain, but does seem to work when you are getting errors with the firmware download.

Almost forgot. Make sure your player is fully charged or has a fresh battery before starting any firmware download.

  • "Disk Full" error message on Muvo TX FM 512, connected to Wi

The Muvo TX FM 52 connects fine to my Windows 2000 laptop, and my windows XP desktop, but when transferring files (drag and drop) I get an error message stating that the disk is full. Windows explorer and Checkdisk both report over 00 MB available. Not sure what to make of the problem, and am open to suggestions.

    - No, it doesn't appear. But, I don't physically have the player....it's with my daughter who li'ves in another town. According to her, it did not show up in My Computer. In fact, when she put the player into her USB port on the laptop, it didn't say "found hardware" or any message, which it usually does.
I know her laptop has Windows XP sp2, she has Windows Media Player 0, but not Creative Media Source, since we did not install the CD that came with the player onto her laptop. I didn't think it needed any drivers since it's XP. Isn't that correct? Or is that the problem?
2 - My other problem lies with the new MuVo TX FMG player I received yesterday. My PC has Windows XP Pro, no service packs. How come when I transferred music to it, nothing happened, shows "no music" when I turned it on. I saw all the files transferring. Yet when I go to explore the dri've on the PC, the music is all folders, like 50 of them? The music is there but doesn't show up on the player.
I used WMP to transfer the music, using drag and drop. I wound up deleting everything and transferred the same music using Creative Media Source and that works fine. I am very confused with both players. Thank goodness all I do is build and repair PCs!!! MP3 stuff is over my head I think!
Sorry, this post really should have been in two questions.

  • I get an error every time i start my muvo tx

Because i didnt shut down the muvo tx fm mp3 player properly when i was done with writing music it started to turn off whenever i turned it on. I checked the manual and it said that i had to format it, but only format FAT files only. I accidentally didnt select that option. Now every time i try to open the mp3 player i get an error message saying: File System Error. What should i do?
ps: i have tried scan disc.

I had that problem with my MuVo TX fm as well. What I did was I went to format it again, this time choosing the proper option, and that seemed to work.

  • Muvo TX/File Error Sys

    Hey people,
I have a problem with my Muvo TX USB 2.0 :
when i try to switch on my mp3, "File Error System" appears on the screen and the player switches off on its own.
When I plug it in my laptop, i'm unable to access the hard dri've but I can see the player's supposed not to have any free space (O octets) !! But I have no file into it...
    I can't do a single thing with it !
    Please help !
I'd really like to solve this problem !

    Trifina wrote:
I tried that already and got an error message telling to put the device in recovery mode (which i can't while I can't access the harddri've...)
Thank you anyway for your help...
You get into Recovery Mode by connecting the player to your PC while pressing and holding the Play button - it's not like the Hard Dri've players where you start the player in a certain way to access Rescue Mode on the player. The TX doesn't have a hard dri've only flash memory.
You need to install the drivers onto your PC first as they contain the Recovery Mode drivers.

  • Muvo s200 says error in deleting files and won't for

My Muvo S200 is barely 4 months old. I was deleting an audio file within the player yesterday, then it said "Error in deleting!" (something like that). I plugged my player into the usb port of my pc, and the file I tried to delete wasn't there anymore. Funny thing is, when I was using my player after, the same file which I tried to delete was playing! Only the sounds were broken.
I tried to reformat the player, only it takes a really really long time (longer than the usual) and then stops and says it won't reformat. What should I do? Please help. Thanks!

dude try to update the firmware using this website under support/downloads
after you do that it will work again
    it worked on mine ?

  • An error has occurred while transferring this file - MuVo v

Hi, I recently purchased a MuVo v00, and am in the process of putting some music on it. I put a number of songs on it yesterday, and after noticing it still had almost 300 megs free, I decided to add some more. However it will now not allow the addition of ANY songs. Any I try to add, it fails to do so, giving me a "an error has occurred while transferring this file" message. Even when I attempt to rip directly from my cds to the device, it gives me this error.
I've checked that all my software is up-to-date (using the automated update feature with the software I was provided)
I would appreciate any help with this.

I have exactly the same problem with my MuVo? .5 GB!
I know that i had once about .GB of mp3s stored on it, however, I deleted all of them to upload a different mp3 collection. Now when I upload files to the MuVo, it stops when I have transfered about 450 MB. However, Windows-Explorer and Creative Media Source both say that there are still 900 and a few MB left, but when i try to copy a file - again "no space left on device".
    I tried to:
delete all files, try transfer again - same effect
    run scandisk - no change
format the player from the rescue menu - no change (whatever this does, this is not a real format, more a quickformat)
updated to the latest firmware - still no change!
I'm kinda really pissed now, I spent quite some time googling, but didn't find anyone else with that problem.
So .. where went that "space"? Would it be usefull to re-format the player using the Windows format tool, like suggested in that thread (with the settings from that thread):
    http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=dap&message.id=400
I started to do that, but since it was *very* slow and the disk was seeking a lot (battery eaten up after about 20 mins!) I stopped the process.
Maybe I will try that afain tomorrow, but *somehow* this can't be the real solution. Whatever the MuVo does here seems not to be standard behaviour, since scandisk reports the dri've to be OK. Would it be possible to re-partition the MuVo? I guess thats not a good idea, since I believe that the firmware is somewhere on the disk, too.

  • PLEASE HELP MUVO N200 ERROR EVERY TIME I TRY AND DOWNLOAD A SONG

hi every time i try and download a song it says error. i put it into recovery mode and it fixes it but i have to unload all the songs off and then start again but the same thing happens again and sometimes i don't even know if my player goes into recovery mode because my computer doesn't detect it. is there anything i can do about the error every time i try an ddownload a song? please help i am relly frustrated!!

"Download" as in from LimeWire or some such program? Or loading your player with songs.
If it's from LimeWire, the song file is probably corrupted.
If it's loading your player with songs, either you haven't installed the player's corresponding driver correctly, or something's happened to corrupt your firmware.
Try downloading the firmware from Creative and re-loading it onto your player. Very easy to do.
If that doesn't fix anything, try uninstalling and then re-installing the Creative MuVo N200 driver onto your computer. Get somebody that <EM>really</EM> knows what they're doing to help you.

  • Error with Muvo N

    I have a Muvo N200 256MB.
For some reason the player will not turn on, and just briefly flashes the "Creative" logo and Muvo screen and then goes off again. I have changed the battery and it has made no difference.
I have tried reloading the firmware and I get a message with reads "Unable to send SCSI command. SCSI Sense code: Device reported and unidefined Sense code".
The player comes up as "removable disk" on my pc, but when I try and access the files I just get a message which says "E:\is not accessible. The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error".
    Can anyone help?

I am also having the "unable to turn on" problem with the Muvo N200, and am quite frustrated with the directions posted on the FAQ and the SID 722 instructions. I have followed them very carefully, downloading both firmware updates, but the solution either doesn't work at all, or works for one time while I turn on the player, but then goes back to the immediate shut down.
I'm about ready to give up on the player, which is unfortunate because I like most everything about it, but this is the second time in a year and a half that this problem has occurred (the first time--about 6 months ago, I assumed it was simply a hard dri've failure after months and months of use; didn't even think to call or check the forums!). Anyway, because I just purchased the new one in January, I did call and was told to check out SID 722, but I have tried that solution four times now and player is still not working consistently. I'll send back under warranty, but I am curious:
Is there any other trick out there to loading the firmware or solving this problem?
Are these things just pieces of junk that buyers should beware of purchasing again?
    THANKS!

  • I/O error when formatting muvo tx

Each time i turn on my mp3 player (creative Muvo Tx FM)
i always see file system error, then i read the MP3 manual
and found out i should connect it in my laptop and format
it, but each time i try formatting it in the computer i
always get a warning message saying I/O error, i can't
access the dri've for the mp3 player but my usb dri've is
working properly, how can i fix this error?

Try downloading the latest driver and firmware from the website. Install the driver file. After you have installed the driver, press and hold the PLAY button, continue holding the button while inserting the player into the USB port for about 0-5 sec. Run the firmware update file and check/tick the 'Format Data Area' check box and click on 'Start'.

  • Muvo² fm media error fixed

everytime i booted my muvo? fm 5 gb it automaticly went to the recovery mode and whatever i choose in the recovery mode it said: media error
pc wont even detect the player
but i fixed it (god tnx)
    this is what i did:
i tried to format my muvo?fm 5 gb in the recovery mode but it freezed
i plugged the adapter in cuz the battery was low and i let the muvo? FM ''formatting'' the whole night!!
in the morning it was still ''formatting''
i unplugged the adapter, rebooted my muvo? FM and it said: firmware error..
after that the recovery mode came up
i ''deleted'' the firmware in the recovery mode,
formatted it in the recoovery mode,
plugged it to the pc, formatted the muvo? FM on the pc
    reinstalled the firmware
and copied my music on it and it worked fine =D (WOOT)
    now it works perfectly
i hope this works for you too guys
ps: try it at your own risk
    Greetz, Coby
    (srry for my bad english)

Thanks for letting us know. Media Error can indicate a damaged hard dri've, but it's useful to know a firmware update can also solve it.

  • File system error on MuVo TX

After I transfer files to my MuVo TX FM, and I try to play the music, I get a message "File System Error. I have followed the instructions and formatted again, but I still get the message. Any suggestions?

This is a post by Surfn, which helped me:
I've had a similar problem with MuVo TX that is about one year old. When I let the battery run down low, I started having the problem. First what didn't work, then what worked:
    -Replacing the battery didn't work.
2-Trying to turn it on gave "File System Error."
3-I am on Windows 2000 OS. When I tried to click on the removable dri've in Windows explorer, it caused that program to freeze up.
4-When I tried to double-click on "My Computer" and right-click on the removable dri've and select "format," nothing happened.
5-When I tried to download the latest firmware and install (with the device plugged into the USB port), after a long time of searching it said that no devices were found.
This is what WORKED for me: I downloaded the firmware NOMAD MuVo TX Audible Firmware Upgrade .0.05 from http://www.nomadworld.com/downloads/drivers When I ran this self-extracting executable, it gave some comment to the effect of "searching for devices." At this moment I held down the pause/play button and plugged the MuVo into my USB port and continued to hold the button down for another 5 to 20 seconds. This was how I was able to finally get it to find the device. At this point I was able to follow the rest of the instructions that were posted previously: check/tick the 'Format Data Area' in the dialog box and click on 'Start'.
I think I ran the firmware executable a second time without checking 'Format Data Area' in order to make sure the Firmware was installed on the newly formatted flash dri've, but I might not have needed to do that last step.
This has gotten me up and running where none of the other suggestions worked for me. I hope this works for you.
I am happy to say that my muvo is working fine now.
The only thing that I didn't do exactly like surfn described is that I didn't
press the play/pause button during the detection of the mp3 player.
I tried pressing the button, but the player was not detected, so I decided
not to press it and see if it works.
The player was detected, I selected the "Format data area" option, and pressed
start. It worked like a charm.

  • MuVo TX 512MB - Error Transferring Fi

I have just bought a MuVo for my daughter.
The first thing I did was a firmware update. I used this one:- MuVoTx_PCFW_LF__2_02e.exe. It took about 4 goes to get the player recognised. But got there in the end.
We are now trying to transfer files onto it. I have a MicroPhoto, so am reasonably competent using Creative Media Source. All went well for a while, then we got error messages saying the file couldn't be transferred. Some of the tracks had transferred, but they 'skipped' during playback. Songs from the same album have been successfully transferred to other players; there is no DRM; we own the original purchased album. In desperation to get these tracks on the player, I have started recording them, converting to mp3 and then transferring, one track at a time. The first 3 tracks were fine, then got the same error message for the 4th track. Also, each track took longer and longer to transfer. I noticed that the playere was a starting to get warm, so disconnnected it, allowed it to cool down and tried again - success!
Can anyone one help with what is happening here? It's getting very frustrating. This is not the ease of use I had expected.
    I li've in England
Thanks in advance.Message Edited by NoAngel on 07-03-2006 03:2 PM

Try to use Explorer instead of any Creative software, its a lot easier and propably works better too.

  • Help: MuVo² 5 GB firmware error and connection proble

Thanks in advance to everybody reading this. I've searched through the forums for two hours and have not found a solution.
When started, my girlfriend's Muvo? 5 GB player only shows "firmware error" and switches to recovery mode. So I tried "Scan Disk", "Clean Up", "Format All" rebooting between each step. Nothing changed, so I downloaded the firmware "Creative MuVo? FM Firmware version .00.02". I could not find the exact firmware for the 5 GB player and read in the forum, that this version should work. When I chose "Reload Firmware" and attached the player via USB after I had been told to do so, my computer recognized the player. However when I tried to run the .exe file the setup told me "Your player is not connected, please connect your player."
I've tried it on four different computers and the same message keeps popping up. I'd be really grateful if anybody could help me out on this one. Thanks in advance.

    luis bustamante-
    Greetings and welcome.
Pull out both of those cards and see if you can boot.
It is most likely one of them or an externally connected peripheral.
