I opened iPhoto today and found I had NO PHOTOS in the library.  After a day of reading, I seem to have found them.  However, panic does not begin to describe my emotions.  They continued to come up on the screen saver, so I knew they were in the computer somewhere.  What I don't understand is what happened??  I am now busy backing them up into my external hard drive, again, but just now including the ones from about August 2011 to now.  I don't back up often enough, but thank gosh I haven't lost them all.  My question is this:  What is the best way to get them back into iPhoto?  I have an old version of iPhoto and I was prompted to update to '08, which I thought I had and BOOM - all the photos were gone when I said "no".  I have lost all my albums and wonder what it will look like if I put them back in?  They were found in the iPhoto Data folder.  I looked it up in iPhoto Help.

They were found in the iPhoto Data folder.
These are not your Photos. They are just the thumbnails that show in the iPhoto Window. They are tiny and not useful for anything. Look for your photos in the Originals Folder.
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'. Are any Libraries listed?

  • Where does mac store all my original photos since iphoto seems to have deleted them no i did not do a back up :-(

I once had over 1000 photos which included the birth of my grandkids etc - now i have one
I have done every thing, rebuild by holding down cntrl - dwnload iphoto manager but i still ony have 1 photo the one that i put in last week
i have looked in the library i have looked in the iphoto masters file and there is only 1 photo
i photo keeps freezing up so its pretty much usless
does anyone know if these photos will be stored on the HD somewhere - ???

Normally, your photos are stored under:
    User/Pictures/iPhoto Library
(with "User" being your login account).  You need to select iPhoto Library and "ctrl" click and select "Show Package Contents.  That's where your photos are.
As you only got one photo in your iPhoto, pertaining to your current login, you could try and go to your startup drive and select Users/
If there your login is normally "User", and you find "User1", "User2" etc, then OSX has created a new user profile for that the old one was somehow corrupted.  I had this once or twice, but instead of trying to repair disk permissions, or do anything at all, I simply restarted, and the old account was restored.  Only then, repair disk permissions.
If you find multiple "User" 's , then try to mount one of those and see if your iPhoto library is there.  It will have the same path as mentioned about..
    Any good?

  • HT201317 i had photo stream on my 4s running 5.0 after updating to ios 6 i seem to have lost them how can i get them back if they are not in my photo appnow?

im not even sure they are on icloud and if they are i do not know how to access them please help

Photo stream only keeps photos for 30 days.  After that, they are removed from photo stream but will remain on your device.   However, if you update your phone then reconnect to your photo stream, you will only get the photos from the last 30 days as the others are no longer there.
Always back up your photos to your computer while they are in the camera roll, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.

  • HT1660 I downloaded crayola copy print, and it seems to have downloaded fine, however I do not know how to open or use it on my 64bit PC

    I feel silly

If you've bought/downloaded it from the iTunes store then it can only be used on an iOS device (i.e. iPhone, iPod Touch and/or iPad) it can't be used on PC or Mac - its requirements should be listed on the left-hand side of its description page in the store

  • At the urging of an Apple Store employee, I upgraded to OS Lion X.  However, Excel does not recognize the hard drive and I cannot save any work.  I understand there is a small compatibility issue - any suggestions ?

I need some direction on fixing an issue with excel and lion x which has a compatibility issue - can't save my work to a hard drive.

If you made a backup before installing lion, now would be a good time to restore that backup.... Ok, well you can always boot into lion recovery menu.... shut down your mac, hold down the option key and restart your computer..... Select recovery from the disk startup menu and go to disk utility... select the OSX disk, you can try repairing your permissions and repairing the disk.... If you lucky enough, it will fix it.... If not, and you have a decent internet connection, click the reinstall LION OSX after exiting disk utility. Your mac will now REDOWNLOAD LION OSX and reinstall it.... did you happen to make a backup before?
Also, did your mac originally have Leopard? Just curious... Because LION is entirely 64bit now where as Snow leopard had support for 32 bit as well, but the problem may be that some of your older apps where 32 bit.... This is just a guess though I'm not sure.... Because I've had numerous problems and crashes with my CS 4 stuff and final cut pro 7 and aperature.... Not sure if it's totally related to the whole 64 bit thing, but the thing is that the crashes are only occuring on my 32 bit apps.... otherwise the computer runs great.... To remedy, I had previously made an OSX lion USB drive so that I could do a fresh install of LION. I backed up all my data and files, installed a new SSD and my Macbook is SCREAAAAAAMING fast.... Sorry about the gloating but I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of your problem....

  • I have 2 iphoto libraries - when I opened iphoto today I can only see one (my old one) and I cannot find the other to "switch" too..

I had an old library on an old mac. I then started a new one on my new Mac and was able to easily switch between the two..
I opened iphoto today and I cannot find my old library which I'd added new photos too.
Hence all photos from the last year have disappeared...
    Either this OR:
Half of my new photos have disappeared from my new library AND my old library has disappeared.
I've tried to find the library using a couple of ideas on this forum but i still can't find them....

What happens when you try to export from the library?  Where are you trying to export to? Are both libraries located in the same Place?  If not where are they located.  If on an external HD how is that HD formatted?
How much free space do you have on your HD(s)?

    Hi morgangang,
Although that message is not listed in the following article, I would still go through it for help.  Things like installing in safe mode may help.
    QuickTime: Windows troubleshooting tips
    Troubleshooting Tips
Make sure your computer meets the system requirements.
Try running ScanDisk to verify that the directory is OK. This is an important step to take before installing any software.
Try running the stand-alone version of the QuickTime installer in "Safe Mode." It is available here. This can help to isolate issues with background applications, and some driver conflicts.
Make certain you have installed the most recent drivers for your sound and video cards. Even if you have a "brand new" computer, it is not guaranteed to have the most recent software installed. Contact the manufacturer of your sound and video cards for additional information.
Make certain you have installed a recent version of DirectX.
Errors are usually related to software conflicts, unusable files, or incompatibilities. They can also be related to specific hardware combinations, and sometimes the way in which the hardware is configured. Keep in mind that an error message does not necessarily point to a particular cause or solution. Since there can be many different causes for a particular symptom, some suggestions may not work, and you may need to discover a solution on your own.
Note: Please contact Microsoft Corporation or your computer vendor for help configuring Microsoft Windows.

It sounds like it is time to restore from the backups you made just before making the disk changes.
You can re-partition and restore your backups.  If you didn't make backups first (you were warned that it might damage things and to make sure you had a good backup) then you will need to repartition everything and reinstall from scratch...

  • Hi there, I have much files saved on pages ( ios ipad) , I just open it today and did not find .all the files !!!! Just 4!!! Taken in consider that I did not delete or making any wrong action. How I can return the lost files!!!! Help please

Hi there, I have much files saved on pages ( ios ipad) , I just open it today and did not find .all the files !!!! Just 4!!! Taken in consider that I did not delete or making any wrong action. How I can return the lost files!!!! Help please
    its very important files!

    tis true
I know, I always do that but I was in a rush to get somewhere and I was relying on my thousand dollar Mac to do some kind of recovery or something. I know Microsoft always keeps temporary files (I think Mac does too, part of me asking here in this forum was for someone to tell me where I can find those files) and when you go to open Office Works then it gives you the option of opening the last recent documents, saved or not saved.
I usually copy paste into my emial just in case something goes wrong with the created document but I just didn't have the time to login and do all that My loss, you live and you learn, BUT still if ANYONE got any info on this, PLEASE DO CHIME IN *keeping the hope alive*

  • When I open iPhoto it tells me there are recovered photos

When I open iPhoto it tells me there are recovered photos & do I want to save them. When I click no it saves them anyway as Recovered Photos in Albums. When I open these files they are blank. This is very annoying as I have to go to Albums & delete these files.

The "recovered" album contains links to "lost&found" photo files in your iPhoto Library. Sometimes iPhoto will find orphaned photos in the iPhoto Library, that are not referenced by any photo in your events.  As a precaution they will be collected in the "recovered" album. Before you try to delete them, I would wait a bit. You may discover, that some photo has lost the connection to the original image file, and then you can retrieve it from the "recovered" album. But sometimes the recovered items are just leftovers, when there was trouble to empty the trash for example, or when iPhoto was "force-quit" and could not complete a file operation.
Since your "recovered" photos are blank and empty, they are useless as a replacement for missing photos, but there are very useful as an inventory of photos that may have been lost and need to be checked, if they are o.k. Occasionally I discovered that indeed a photo was missing, by carefully looking at the recovered items. Then I knew, what I had to restore from my TimeMachine backup.
    Regards
    Léonie
