I ordered new cartridges from HP - explained I inherited the NEW machine but NO initializing ink.

Installed new cartridges into the printer - it has only one thing to say (after I do everything that is supposed to be done)   WRONG CARTRIDGES - INSTALL INK CARTRIDGES THAT CAME WITH THE PRINTER!!!!I spent $98 for cartridges that looked exactly like the ones I had already tried.  I have 2 other C8180 units.
What in the world will make this printer accept the new cartridges??????
PLEASE HELP ME
Have you ever tried for 6 hours to reach HP for help - unless have to pay to talk?

Firefox sent an email to me to confirm that I had asked the above question. The email had a link to click. When I clicked it from Firefox, nothing happened. Then I opened IE, signed into Comcast, opened the email, clicked the link, and it brought me here.

I recently purchased a new iMac with an 1 Terrabyte external drive.  I want to transfer my files from my old iMac to the external drive, but I'm afraid that doing that will compromise the use of the external drive on my new iMac.  I have not downloaded the external drive's software onto my old Mac because of this concern.  May I simply "drag and drop" the contents I want transferred to the external drive, then set up my new Mac with the drive and download there? or is there a better procedure?  Comments?  Help?

If your intention is to copy a just documents and data (word processing files and music for example) then yes, you can use drag and drop. If you want to transfer data and applications and permissions, it would actually be easiest to connect the drive to your old computer and turn on TimeMachine. Once TM is finished, connect the drive to your new computer and restart it holding the option key to get into Recovery mode. Then you can use the restore from TM option to transfer your data and programs to the new computer.

Delete the email. The zip file will have no effect on your iPhone.

    Hello
I bought my wife a new MacBook Pro, in setting it up for her, I took her Time Machine external drive to migrate onto the new machine but her old MBP not only was on 10.6, it was my old machine which I was still Administrator for.
i plugged in the external drive to start the migration process after entering her name and username from the old machine which gave me the options on transferring the old data over.
I also unchecked the Administrative end that had my info hoping that ONLY her data, files, etc., would be the ones sent over to her new machine which I wanted her to be the ONLY Administrator for. All went like clockwork until the restart.
Normally the screen should show the username and only need the password but both entries were blank, as in ‘Other’ sign in option available only. I entered her name and password, nothing….used her username and password, nothing. Used my old Administrator name and password, NOTHING!
I tried defaulting to factory settings from the Restore feature but it directs me to notify Apple. I tried in Terminal to change the password, nothing. I tried to boot from MY external drive and it doesn’t recognize it. I tried to even use my external drive which actually has the Mavericks upgrade, nothing!
Basically I can only get the startup screen which isn’t accepting the username/password or the Restore feature which doesn’t offer any options helpful!
Please, how do I start from scratch and start over here? Or simply change the Administrator name and password so I can proceed with everything thats already on there? I wish I could even boot from another drive but no luck on anything!

First, on the old machine, make your wife's account an admin one. Log into it and delete yours. Then, update the TM backup. Finally, use Internet recovery mode, ⌘⌥R, erase the HD, and restore the OS. One first boot, follow the steps outlined in Pondini's Setup New Mac guide.

    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase a redemption code at the Online Apple Store: OS X Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. Use the code to redeem a download of Mountain Lion from the App Store. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later.
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model
                 Identifier 5,1 or later.
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later.
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later.
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later.
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later.
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later.
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

You can write that image in a binary format using OutputStream for System.out and then read it in your applet.

    Can somebody help me?

First of all, we are not Adobe.  This is a user to user forum.  We are consumers just like you. And I have arthritis, too, although not severe.
Now let's see if we can help you resolve your problem.
    Where was it purchased from?
Was it downloaded or was a disc purchased?
    What is your operating system?
Is it version Photoshop Elements 13?
Did you use a redemption code to get a serial number?
    Did you sign in/activate?
Did you create an Adobe account?

Hi, we trialed from central and have bought the plus version but have still been charged for another month of the trial. Would you be good enough to refund the charge please considering we have bought the main product?

After much back and forth drama, and the assistance of one awesome person at Apple, and also a great iTunes representitive, they have agreed to refund me.
I have not yet recieved the refund but will post here when I do.
This has been a long and drawn out headache, but I am glad that finally things seem to be set straight.

  • Ordered my MBP from local dealer.  Now the wait begins...

Well I'm making the jump to Apple. Ordered my MBP through my local dealer. Was told since I got the glossy screen it will take approximately 7 business days to get here.
Going to replace my PC desktop with this MBP so there's going to be a lot of work to be done to switch all my information over but I'm looking forward to the change.
I also bought the airport extreme but haven't set it up yet. Probably set it up tomorrow..
Any recommendations of the first things I should/need/want to do the MBP?

I have had mine about 6 weeks now. This is what I did first, before I moved things over.
    1. Installed the latest updates.
    2. Played with the various programs.
    3. Learned some of the basics of mac osx, since I was a PC user.
    4. I moved my Music Over ( Dragged music to my MBP itunes lib, then did a add and added it all into the Lib. I didn't care about my playlists in this move). There is a nice doc on this, just don't have the link handy. If I get it, I will post it). And did an Import of my photos into iPhoto.
    5. Set up Time Machine (didn't have EHD at the beginning of all this).
    6. During all this I started a cheat sheet for me and a questions sheet to help me keep up with questions that either will go to the bar or the forum.
    7. Enjoyed the great new system and not looking back.
    8. On going, moving over various files as I find if I need.
Have fun with this new machine, I know I have.
