• Live view on laptop monitor

    I'm looking for Canon PowerShot and software that offer ability to conect with laptop, that I can see on monitor what camera lens see. No need for any additional function, just live view window. PowerShot with Vari-Angle LCD may not be helpful cause sometimes camera will be too far away for me to see. (3m is far away for me ) Help!

    The Powershot N series allows that on either a tablet or smartphone. The N2 and the N100. You can control and view your camera via WiFi connections.
    I think but I cant recall which models but there may be some other models that have live output via and AV or HDMI cable.
    One call to Canon might get you the list of models quicker

  • Spry menu bar not visible in live view

    Hi everyone,
    I was just working on the css for my spry menu bar and went to check it out in the live view, but it is no longer visible. I checked it out in Safari and Firefox to no avail. It looks totally fine in the design view in Dreamweaver. I'm new to web design and I have no idea what I did, but I'm really hoping someone here does! Below is the CSS.

    Obviously, as seen above, I'm doing something wrong or Live View does not do all the functions that Design View use to do. I realize I can still access Design View in non-Fluid Grid Layout documents and that is my current work-around. I copy from my Word file into Design View available in non-Fluid, then copy that code into my Fluid Grid Layout document, not real efficient use of my time. And, even that work-around may not be available after the next upgrade.

    Hans thank you for your reply and attention to this matter. Moreover, with your steeped expertise I do not, in any fashion, intend to be flippant or capricious.
    However, I do not believe the reply is on point since I'm not discussing the insertion of an HTML tag/element; but rather, the placing of complex formatted text into my various web pages.
    Design View and 2014.1 Live View seem to serve different functions. That is, Design View, for us, serves as a highly sophisticated HTML5 code generator that allows us to properly display complex formatted text that originally is created as a Word docx file. As I noted in my original post, the complex formatted text from the Word file is then pasted into Design View and thus properly renders on the web page. I invite you to try this yourself. Simply copy my properly formatted text in my original post (that can be found at "Using Design View the web page rendered this way:") to a Word file, and it will retain the complex formatting, then copy that Word file text to both Design View and 2014.1 Live View files. Please apprise me of your results.
    Discussion has been had in at least two separate threads on the Design View disappearance in Fluid Grid. In https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1597260 staff member Lalita wrote "It would be helpful for us if you list the issues you are seeing with fluid grid live view editing." And in https://forums.adobe.com/message/6807088#6807088 staff member Subhadeep wrote "If you can list down the workflows you are trying while editing in Live View & the issues you are facing in doing so, it will help us understand what is amiss & suggest alternative workflows to do the same." I believe I've pointed out issues when attempting to use Live View for functions or work flow that customarily had been done in Design View.
    Being a CC subscriber, if someone can provide me with a workflow using other additional Adobe products to get my complex formatted text from Word ultimately to my Dreamweaver web page, be it an image insert or whatever, I would take the suggestions.
    The difference in the coding of my example in my original post is as follows.

    It is readily apparent that Design View is a much needed code generator in the Dreamweaver product. Live View serves completely other, and needed, purposes. Therefore, I still, after all the forum discussions, do not understand why Design View has been removed from Fluid Grid.
    Again Hans thank you for your reply. But unless I'm missing something, citation to the links you provided does not solve my problem. And that problem is this: If Design View is on its way out and thus will be completely removed from Dreamweaver at some point, then how do I provide my information (i.e. complex executive job descriptions) on my website?
    Apparently a vote is taking place https://forums.adobe.com/ideas/3922 on the issue of placing Design View back into Fluid Grid. I do not understand why the need for two rather disjunctive functionalities are at the mercy of the democratic process. These are matters of engineering principles not "town hall gatherings".

  • Div Image not showing in Live View

    Why can't I see my image placed within a Div tag in Live View? Makes no sense. I've changed the z-index to 1000, also tried 1 nothing changes. Please advise if anyone can help. Thank you!

    I've applied BOLD to the Div tag in question

    /* ~~ These are the columns for the layout. ~~
    1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the divs. The elements within these divs have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.
    2) No margin has been given to the columns since they are all floated. If you must add margin, avoid placing it on the side you're floating toward (for example: a right margin on a div set to float right). Many times, padding can be used instead. For divs where this rule must be broken, you should add a "display:inline" declaration to the div's rule to tame a bug where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin.
    3) Since classes can be used multiple times in a document (and an element can also have multiple classes applied), the columns have been assigned class names instead of IDs. For example, two sidebar divs could be stacked if necessary. These can very easily be changed to IDs if that's your preference, as long as you'll only be using them once per document.
    4) If you prefer your nav on the left instead of the right, simply float these columns the opposite direction (all left instead of all right) and they'll render in reverse order. There's no need to move the divs around in the HTML source.

  • Webpage looks good with tranparent boxes and photo background in live view but not in browsers

    If anyone has time to help I would be very grateful. I am new to dreamweaver and am trying to make a webpage with transparent colums and boxed text using styles. It looks perfect in "live view" but when I look at it in any browser all formatting is gone. It looks like the background with text on top layed out wrapped across the entire page. I have not been able to figure out what is wrong in days of searching. Does anyone know the answer?
    This first the format I want and is what it looks like in Live View, the second is what it looks like in most browsers.
    Here is the code I used:

What does NBCS Do?

Since 2004 The Narragansett Bay Coyote Study (NBCS) has been developing science-based coexistence and management strategies for our newest top predator. Coyotes, originally a prairie species, have successfully colonized all parts of the continental and nearshore us in the past 100 years. They reached the islands of Narragansett Bay in the mid-1990s. Since then coyotes have become increasingly abundant and problematic in some island communities.

In our history of cohabitation with coyotes people consistently tried to eliminate them by hunting, trapping, and poisoning. Lethal removal worked for individual problem animals but did not work as a population control strategy. Why? Coyotes have intrinsic physiological and behavioral abilities to control their own numbers. If coyotes are removed they increase reproduction and numbers rapidly rebound. The critical population regulation trigger is competition for food. As long as coyotes are well fed (with few coyotes competing for food) their populations will grow.

It is also known that opposite effect occurs if coyotes if coyotes are stressed by competition for food. If there are too many coyotes competing for the food available coyotes will drop the the level sustainable by those resources.

Understanding this relationship, NBCS scientists decided to study the resource use of coyotes on two islands in Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island. We used GPS tracking collars to find out where the coyotes were spending thier time. We theorized that if we could identify important coyote food resources - and control them - the coyotes would bring their own numbers down. NBCS calls this "passive coyote management."

Since 2005 when we trapped and collared our first island coyotes we have continually found that the most important food resources to our study are provided by people. That means they are within our control That means we can control coyotes. If we remove anthropogenic resources (human subsidies) coyote numbers will drop to the level sustainable by natural resources. When coyotes are sustained only by natural prey (mice, woodchucks, rabbits, geese, and deer) coyotes numbers will be lower and they will provide helpful pest control services.

Based our scientific data NBCS generated a set of Best Management Practices for Coexistence with Coyotes- basically a toolbox for safe, sustainable, community coyote management. We are working with the towns in our study area to adopt the CBMPs and be the first community in the nation to successfully and sustainably manage coyotes. We also believe other cities and towns might be able to use our results as a template if they are experiencing coyote problems. We have only just begun to implement the CBMPs on our islands. We hope in the near future to have all our towns implementing the CBMPs - only then will we see the full impacts they make on coyote numbers and behavioral problems. You can follow our progress on this website.

    Helo thanks for responding . I think it uploads... It says it does as an assocaiated file when I put to the website. But that sounds like it is the issue. Those format commands seem to be the one it is ignoring. I am not familiar with html but I see that the href command is what identifies the path to the file I call TCAStyles. I notice that dw puts all my files in a local public file and the structure is different - with no public file - at the site.
    I am not sure what the 2 dots in the href command mean - there is not a full path. Is this command valid? I will try to look into the directory structure on local and remote site and will check for files.

  • When using Live View, site looks great, browser testing goes crazy

    I am creating a new website (and I am really unexperienced with Dreamwaver CS5). But when I check my site using "Live View" everything looks great, the way it is supposed to. Then when I go to test it in my browswer (Primary browser is Chrome) it goes crazy: I at first noticed that I had saved one copy as an .asp but then resaved it to .xhtml I did delete the first line of code already that the .asp file created as it kept giving me an error on line 1.
    Then I tried to do a spry drop-down menu bar, which I have deleted since I thought I was doing something wrong with that and I should just stick to what I half-way know.
    If I were to preview the template page it gives me this error:
    This page contains the following errors:
    error on line 150 at column 76: error parsing attribute name
    Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.
    Here is line 150:
        if (a[i].indexOf("#")!=0){ d.MM_p[j]=new Image; d.MM_p[j++].src=a[i];}}
    If I were to test the index.xhtml page in the browser, it ignores most images (all but one), and the first nav-bar (an editable region) appears to the left instead of under the header. The layout is totally ignored and everything is on the left-hand side of the screen instead of in a two column layout.
    I am not testing this on a server just off of my computer.
    I am assuming that the error has something to do with the .asp file I first did and when I resaved it, since I don't know what I would be looking for, is still in there screwing it up.
    Here is the code from the template page:

Instructions

Be aware that the CSS for these layouts is heavily commented. If you do most of your work in Design view, have a peek at the code to get tips on working with the CSS for the fixed layouts. You can remove these comments before you launch your site. To learn more about the techniques used in these CSS Layouts, read this article at Adobe's Developer Center - http://www.adobe.com/go/adc_css_layouts.

Clearing Method

Because all the columns are floated, this layout uses a clear:both declaration in the .footer rule. This clearing technique forces the .container to understand where the columns end in order to show any borders or background colors you place on the .container. If your design requires you to remove the .footer from the .container, you'll need to use a different clearing method. The most reliable will be to add a <br class="clearfloat" /> or <div class="clearfloat"></div> after your final floated column (but before the .container closes). This will have the same clearing effect.

Logo Replacement

An image placeholder was used in this layout in the .header where you'll likely want to place a logo. It is recommended that you remove the placeholder and replace it with your own linked logo.

Logo Replacement

Be aware that if you use the Property inspector to navigate to your logo image using the SRC field (instead of removing and replacing the placeholder), you should remove the inline background and display properties. These inline styles are only used to make the logo placeholder show up in browsers for demonstration purposes.

To remove the inline styles, make sure your CSS Styles panel is set to Current. Select the image, and in the Properties pane of the CSS Styles panel, right click and delete the display and background properties. (Of course, you can always go directly into the code and delete the inline styles from the image or placeholder there.)

Backgrounds

By nature, the background color on any div will only show for the length of the content. This means if you're using a background color or border to create the look of a side column, it won't extend all the way to the footer but will stop when the content ends. If the .content div will always contain more content, you can place a border on the .content div to divide it from the column.

  References Available! We accept cash, check, Visa, Discover, MasterCard

    I'm assuming this is a static web site. Rename (F2) all your pages with .html or .htm extension.
    .xhtml is not a valid extension.

  • Help with Wordpress in Live View

    I have recently started attempting to use Dreamweaver to customise Wordpress themes, following the guidance given in this article:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/dw_wordpress_pt1.html
    However, despite following the advice precisely, I've encountered a problem. When I add an image to the header (following the method described on page 3 of the article), it does not display in Live View, nor does it appear in my web browser. Instead, as you can see (circled in red) it simply displays the icon for a missing image. In my browser, the alternate text is shown instead. So, in short, the image is missing.
    The open file is index.php, opened from the root (htdocs) as specified in the article. I note from the comments on page 3 of the article that several people have experienced the same thing. One user reports solving it by placing the image in the images folder in the root directory, instead of within the theme directory. However, this seems odd for two reasons - one, as I understand it, it's not how Wordpress themes generally work (though I can understand having another 'images' folder in the root for working purposes), and two there is no images folder in my root directory. So, I have a few questions - the general one of what's going on and how do I fix, plus the specific question of whether or not there should be an images folder in my root directory? If so, why isn't it there? Any help greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Matt

    I'm sure it is a path issue - the code in the header file supplies a path of images/banner_logo.gif as you can see. This is obviously causing the problem in some way because the set-up with Dreamweaver demands I open the index.php file from the root, but my quandary is that the path as it stands is sort of 'correct' in terms of how Wordpress should usually work, is it not? I obviously don't want to be creating absolute links for the sake of Dreamweaver that create additional problems (or simple redundancy) when I upload the theme.
    The image is where it should be, relative to header.php:
    Here's the Live Code - will supply CSS if needed but not sure it's the issue:

  • Slideshow works great in "live view" but does not in "preview browser"

    My slideshow looks just fine in "live view" but when I "preview in browser" it doesn't show up at all in Firefox and is a blue square with a question mark in Safari. This was created in Dreamweaver and the slideshow is "Advanced Random Images" from Dreamweaver Exchange.
    It was working in the browsers, but I had to make some changes. I put the slideshow within the "content" to get it to be centered on the page.
    The centering worked great, but now it's not showing up.
    Here is that section of my code:

  • Div shifting down page in live view

    I'm trying to create a website for a project I'm doing.I'm having a problem in live view where I the div with the id "imageholder" keeps shifting down the page. It looks fine in the editor but the browser and live view not so much. I want it to line up with the top div, not the bottom one.
    Another problem I'm having is that I can't adjust the footers margin very well. it's not taking into account the div's directly above it. I've included a screenshot of the page as it hasn't been uploaded online yet. Thanks

    Move the imageholder div so that it is the first child of the "mainpara" article.
    Also, you probably want "...what they're saying below" in that last paragraph above. Finally, why do you have a nested
tag in your code?

  • Style changes show in Design mode but not in Live View or online.

    I'm using CS5. I modified a style sheet and the changes showed up in Design mode just the way I wanted them. I switched to Live View and they did not show up. I put the new style sheet on the server and it the changes do not show up online. The basic change was to add a border around some text that serves as a link to another page in the site. The source code can be viewed here: The Akshaya Home | Akshaya USA. The relavent lines are 71 and 72 at the bottom of the banner div. The CSS code is:

  • Page not displaying - cannot edit - ok in live view

    I have jsut upgraded to Dreamweaver CS 5.5 - Windows 7 - My site used to work fine in Dreamweaver CS4 - I have a template with editable regions and lots of divs - wehn I ope the page in CS 5.5 - it shows the backgroudn [which repeats ] but none of the editable text
    teh page can be found at www.fcrsafield.com/list.hmtl
    The page displays correclty in live view - I've tried turning off"style renderign" and that allowed me to see my content and to edit it - but as soon as I saved teh file - it all disappears again - but it is there in live view .
    Any help is apreciated as I have more than 100 pages built on this template.

    I'm surprised the page shows up at all in any browsers. You've got some very whacky CSS rules. I cleaned up the obvious stuff and removed what didn't seem to belong.

    Finally, I highly recommend using one external CSS file in your Template.dwt. It's much easier to manage and creates less code on your HTML pages.

  • Trouble viewing pages in live view and preview in browser

    I am currently using Dreamweaver CS4 on windows XP. I was able to view all my pages in live view and I was able to preview them in Firefox and Internet Explorer. I changed a CSS setting on the page, and when I went to view it nothing showed up. I only got a white screen. I undid everything that I did, try to preview it again and it still wouldn't show up. I tried to preview other files, some show up other don't. I've tried to rename the file, put it in another folder, restarted Dreamweaver and restarted the computer. Nothing is working. Any help would be appreciated.

    Sorry here is the code.

  • Why blank browser or Live View?

    I am creating a home page with an interactive object using JQuery and Dreamweaver. I am following a tutorial and I know that the html code is correct. The problem comes when I add a CSS rule. When I add that rule, I cannot see the page displayed in Live View or my FireFox browser. I don't know how to troubleshoot that so I can determin why the browser is blank.
    What do I need to do or what do I need to search to find the answer? Based on the steps in the tutorial, I have done everything. What could be missing from the tutorial?
    Thanks.

    This is the CSS code: I kept running into this issue after I added the .marquee_caption rule.
    @charset "utf-8";
    /* CSS Document */
    .marquee_container {
        margin-top: 0px;
        margin-right: 0px;
        margin-bottom: 30px;
        margin-left: 0px;
        overflow: hidden;
        position: relative;
    .marquee_photos {
        position: absolute;
        left: 0px;
        top: 0px;
    .marquee_caption {
        color: #FFF;
        background-image: url(../images/template/marquee_caption-------.png);
        background-repeat: no-repeat;
        background-position: 0px 0px;
        margin: 0px;
        width: 700px;
        padding-top: 15px;
        padding-right: 0px;
        padding-bottom: 10px;
        padding-left: 0px;
        position: absolute;
        left: 0px;
        top: 340px;
    .marquee_caption_content {
        width: 410px;
        padding-top: 0px;
        padding-right: 0px;
        padding-bottom: 0px;
        padding-left: 25px;
    .marquee_caption h2 {
        font-size: 1.25em;
        font-weight: normal;
        text-transform: uppercase;
        color: #FFF;
        margin-top: 0px;
        margin-right: 0px;
        margin-bottom: 12px;
        margin-left: 0px;
    .marquee_caption_content p {
        color: #FFF;
        margin-top: 0px;
        margin-right: 0px;
        margin-bottom: 12px;
        margin-left: 0px;
    .marquee_caption_content a {
        color: #FC0;
    .marquee_caption_content a:hover {
        color: #FFF;
    .marquee_caption_content .marquee_flag {
        float: left;
        margin-right: 10px;
    This is the code for the html file. Everything went well until I added the third css rule for photos shown above:

marquee

London

This is a test caption
This is a test caption!

Check it out!

  • Live View Window Reading Extra 20px

    Okay, I figured out what the bug is after the 13.1 update. On all of my live views on all of my projects and on both of my machines (I'm running Windows 8, btw), Dreamweaver is miscalculating the window width (or displaying the wrong window width in the corner) by 20px. So, if I have a media query that says don't break until a min-width of 801px, when I pull my Live View window out, it doesn't break until 821px.
    Where is this extra 20px coming from? It can't be in my stylesheets because this is happening in multiple projects on multiple devices.
    Is anyone else having this problem? If so, please respond.
    Anyone at Adobe listening to this?
    Cheers,
    Jonathan

    Okay. There are no errors in the code. I'm designing for a phone, so the "Preview in Browser" tool is worthless for me. I mean, I get it, because you can squish the browser down and all of that. But if I wanted to design sites that way, I'd get Notepad ++ and save myself the agony of paying thousands of dollars for the Adobe software suite.
    Now, I did uninstall DW 13.1, and reinstalled at 13.0 and the issue when away. I could actually use the Live View. Then, without thinking, I installed the update--and now the issue is back.
    All of that being said. I'm adding a photo of what my screen looks like and then I'm going to post ALL of the css, so there aren't any questions about what's going on. I've already gleened
    As I can see: horizontal scroll bar all the time. I've checked for every discrepency I can think of in my stylesheets: width: 100%, but margins: 0 5%; Padding blow out. All of it. I can't post the CSS here because it says I'd be violating the TOS.
    So, I'll post it up here: http://www.stpaulmedia.com/sample-style.css
    The Wordpress install I'm working on is locally hosted, so there's no point in trying to share that.
