Try this on your iPad:
Unpairing a Bluetooth accessory
If you've paired iPad with an accessory that you no longer wish to use, you can unpair the accessory.
From the Home screen choose Settings > General > Bluetooth. If Bluetooth isn't on, turn it on.
Choose the accessory and tap Unpair.

I already have multiple devices and by far I like my iPad the most over laptops and the iPad. That including checking out my friends MacBook Air.
The difference for me is the touch interface on the screen itself for things that do not require a lot of typing. For me, the iPad is more "magical" than anything else I've used.
Again, I do appreciate your answers but you don't know my situation. Not everything is as it is perceived without knowing me and what I have to go through.

Everywhere that I've checked it is not possible to do this. I would like to even do this using the vkb. I hate having to stretch my thumb all the way up just to send a message. It's messaging, not a report or email. Seems backwards. Hopefully some day Apple can add this option.

Is there anything like this out there yet? There's been a keyboard with solar charging integrated for ages...
But I'm hoping the level of efficiency is such that, we're nearing the point that keyb & trackpad can now be powered by solar.
Failing that, even just a charger built into the keyb/trackpad to charge approx. 2 (ideally) standard batteries would be fine.
