I phone 4 ..in settings the line with carrier (including the little blue box with the telephone symbol) has disappeared so when i insert a sim card the iphone searches for a network but comes up with no service ! has anybody got any ideas ?
i was sent a new sim card from orange to change to a new contract . when i changed the sim card i noticed the iphone was looking for a signal but could not find one . when i went into settings i noticed that the line which contains carrier and the blue icon with the telephone symbol had disappeared . any idea how i can get it back ?

To use a sim from a carrier, other than the carrier your phone is locked to, requires that your phone be officially unlocked. The only way to accomplish that is to contact the carrier your phone is currently locked to & request that they authorize the phone's official unlocking.

I've no idea why either.
Although it isn't normally possible to sync an iPod/iPad/iPhone with two computers (or manually manage an iPhone from more than one) it can be achieved if all computers have copies of the self same library. See Re: how do i sync on a second laptop without the data on my iPhone 5 being erased?

After updating I can not get over 1000 songs from my library to play. I spent 2 hours with Apple support and he could not fix it. Anybody got any ideas?

My music files etc were all located on my old laptop which was stolen. I have just plugged my iphone in to my new computer and it has deleted all my files. Has anybody got any ideas on how to retrieve the files?

Connect the iPod to your PC. If iTunes starts syncing (ie erasing) your music automatically, hit the X in the upper right hand corner of iTunes display, to the left of the search box, to stop it.
In Control Panel, Portable Media Devices, double-click your iPod.
In the Tools menu -> Options, in the View Tab, check "Show hidden files and folders."
Navigate to the Music folder. On my 'pod, the full path is
Portable Media Devices\NAME of IPOD (F:)\iPod_Control\Music
Select all the music folders, and drag and drop them into a folder on your hard drive, or directly into iTunes.
And you're done! The iPod music folder structure is strange and inexplicable, but once you move your files into iTunes you can set it to automatically organize your folder by artist and album to clean that up. (To do this, in iTunes Edit menu, choose Preferences and in the Advanced tab, check "Keep iTunes Music Folder organized."

I would try to Restore in DFU Mode. Connect iPhone to iTunes, hold both Home and Power buttons for exactly 10 seconds, release Power button, keep holding Home button until iTunes tells you it has found iPhone in Recovery Mode, this takes about 20 seconds time. If the Screen is Black this is DFU Mode. If the screen shows iTunes Screen this is Recovery Mode. If you get Recovery Mode try to restore anyway. If fails again then definitely try to get DFU Mode, it may take several tries. -

I clicked on Sky go app to install on Sat .It is now Monday night and the app Icon is greyed out and displaying "waiting". Anybody got any ideas?
Often, rebooting, or deleting the waiting app and re-installing, will do the trick.

Hi my itunes library is constantly disappearing, I really don't know what is wrong. It keep happening everytime I turn my laptop off, I thought I had solved the problem the other week however it has started back up again. I have a Sony Vaio laptop and have read on the discussions that this can occur but all the solutions I have read haven't seemed to solve it. Anybody else got an idea? I would be really grateful for the help!

My 4S keeps on switching itself off for no apparent reason. I've had to restore 3 times already. Does anybody have an idea ? Thanks
I should mention it is ios 6.1.3. The phone has now also started, after rebooting, showing the signal bars next to the wifi signal icon at the top but no "Sprint" type next to the bars as usual. And then after a few minutes it shuts down, shows the black screen with the white apple in the middle for a few moments, comes back up with the Waiting for Activation message, the signal bars pop up and the whole cycle just repeats itself.

I just bought an unlocked Iphone 5 a few weeks ago. I'm using it perfectly except I don't have a nano sim inserted. I have AT&T. I had a Samsung before buying the Iphone 5 and I blocked the internet access through cellular service on the Samsung. I was wondering if I buy a nano sim (using my old number) and insert it in my Iphone 5, would it automatically register me to a data plan? Would it automatically connects to the internet through cellular service even though I've never signed up for it? Yes I only want to use the Wifi on my Iphone. I do not want to pay extra money for the data plan. Keep in mind that my Iphone is unlocked already. I heard my friends saying that if you use an ATT sim on an Iphone, it will force you to use internet through the cellular service. Is that true?
Thank you for reading my question.That is true, AT&T does not allow the use of smartphones without a data plan on their network. Unlocking has nothing to do with this and I'm wondering why someone would pay that much money for a phone they are not going to use.
