I phone Can't send Mail

Im trying to find a fix for mail i can receive
I have read every thing on here on fixing the "i phone no sending messenges"
I have hotmail i have tried port 995, 25, can any one help me ??

Hi Geochiguy,
I have been encountered the same problem with Comcast mail on my iPad since I upgraded to IOS 8.  The way to fix is go into your Comcast mail account, under Outgoing Mail Server section, select SMTP, then SMTP.comcast.net under Primary Server section.  Change Server Port to 587.  Save and tries to send mail again.

  • Can Not Send Mail- what's going on?

Can download mail but can not send mail. With parallels on and xp pro I can easily set up outlook to send and receive mail. But no! The great Apple which is supposed to be easy can not send an email with the same settings. So, back to Windows to do what should be easy on a mac. I think that perhaps the new Safari or something messed this up.

If you'd like to approach the problem as something you don't understand, and also something that can be fixed, then you'll probably be able to set up your email account.
You say you have emails in the Outbox. I'd move them to another folder you create or delete them. In past experience, emails contain header information that includes mail server information, and sometimes they will never send (especially with Outlook Express), even if you get the account to work. You can try sending them again, once you get the account working.
Next, you need to make sure that you are sending the emails from a machine that is connected directly to RoadRunner's network. They may not work as a relay if you connect from another ISP. It's a port 25 problem that is common these days.
Now for the problem. If you are receiving emails properly, then the POP server information is correct. The mail program is designed to set up to some default settings that work with many servers, and during the process it will try to validate the settings you supply. This can take awhile, and can come up with a failure, due to a wrong assumption. Your email program is assuming that the email server requires authentication. This has been a problem with the RoadRunner system for years. Apparently, some windows email clients do not work the same way, go figure. They seem to have their own problems.
Many people have reported successfully setting up an account with RoadRunner, after first making sure they have the right SMTP server address. It can be different for different parts of the country.
After the email account is set up, and is failing to work, people go into the Mail/Preferences/Accounts/Account Information/Outgoing Mail SMTP Server - Click on the dropdown button - Choose "Edit Server List" - Advanced - Change Authentication to "None"
Here is a related thread with stories of success with RoadRunner: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9128382&
After the changes, I'd quit and relaunch Mail. Not required, but good troubleshooting practice. Since there are no emails in the Outgoing Mailbox, create a short message and try to send.
I have different problems with different companies for both Mac's and Windows machines. The ISP always blames the OS, especially Leopard and Vista (since they work with more intelligent/advanced (maybe) settings. Besides the Authentication issue that pops up with some servers, there's also the occasional SSL variation and/or login name (sometimes it's the first part of the email address before the @ and sometimes it's the entire email address). Some ISP's block port 25, some do not. All of these settings can vary with each ISP, and can change on a whim (especially the port 25 problem), with working accounts going dark because of security changes at the ISP. Telephone Tech support at the ISP is often unaware of any changes in their system because they are not in the IT loop at the company and some will just go into "idiot" mode when you mention Macintosh. The first level support people are using a script on the phone, and their job is to make you go away...
I'm afraid the Great Apple, as you referred to them, is not able or hasn't focused on the ability to automatically set up accounts with every ISP. They appear to have made some assumptions that work with most servers. Who know's, next month the settings or assumptions may work, or Apple may update their setup script to make allowances specific to Time Warner, but since this has been a problem for over 3 years, I wouldn't hold my breath.
Google: leopard mail roadrunner problem = about 96,000 hits of all sorts.
Google: vista email roadrunner problem = about 1,410,000 hits of all sorts.
Google: windows xp email roadrunner problem = 243,000 hits of all sorts.
Looks like Apple's getting it's market share of problems with RoadRunner and Time Warner
My own local DSL is from a company named Centurytel. They are on their 4th email server setup in the last 5 years, and have finally contracted it out to a 3rd party company to administer. I just tell all of my clients to get a Gmail account and get over it. Let's see, a multi-billion dollar company who's reputation and income is based on service... free with 7GB storage, Webmail, POP and IMAP access, specific support for all major mail programs including Apple Mail, and alternate ports that get around ISP blocking. It seems that once you enable POP or Imap access in the webmail settings menu, Apple Mail and Vista seem to know the proper settings to use.
I'd setup the free Gmail account that will work with any ISP you use, before you get really attached to an email account with an ISP that could change as often as competitor's marketing allows. Also, my iPhone supports Gmail out of the box

  • N8 Mail for Exchange (can not send mails)

    Hi guys,
I just got my new Nokia N8. I already setup Mail for Exchange via IMAP to sync the mails, contacts and the calendar of my private mailbox.
Everything runs alright. But I can not send mails via Mail for Exchange. If I push on "New Mail" the program say the command can not be executed and breaks down.
Does someone know how to fix that problem?
     Thanks from Liechtenstein.
    Phil

    Hi,
I also had problems with unable to send emails.
I was getting error messages in the Mail for Exchange (MfE) log files such as
Setting DISK FULL status to false
Error occurred during sending mail. Setting status to waiting for reconnect
    HTTP failure while sending messages.
I figured out a work around. The problem seemed to be with the certificate.
I ended up deleting the certificate and then only selecting "Accept this time only" which made everything work.
    I am using a Nokia 5800.
    To delete a certificate goto
Setting > Phone > Phone mgmt > Security > Certificate Management > Trusted site certificates
find the offending certificate and delete it.
The next time I tried to synchronize my emails with Mail for Exchange, I was asked to select whether to accept the certificate... press the option button.
Then select "accept this time only".
After doing that, the emails in the outbox were sent properly.
I have to figure out how to get this to work permanently, but for the moment it was a quick fix.
[I hope this helps. I tried to be as descriptive as possible and write with correct spelling so that search engines will collect it.]

  • Can't send mail since 10.4.6 update

Since updating my OS to 10.4.6 I can't send mail. I can receive mail and I can browse online. But mail will not go out. I've verified all the Outgoing Mail Server info SEVERAL times and have had no luck. I've enabled Entourage to handle mail instead of MacMail and it won't work either. Totally stumped.
Same thing has happened on my iBook G4 laptop by the way. I'm convinced that the update has something to do with this.

    INTERNET CONNECTION LOST
so... since the 10.4.6 update once my computers fall asleep the connection to my wireless router is lost. (mail seems to be working ok, when i have an internet connection...)
I have tried multiple things to fix this. Thus far the only solution seems to be resetting the router to use connect back to the internet. Once this is done the internet connection works fine, until lost or the computers go to sleep. When i wake the computer i have to do it all over again... and on top of it the post link is missing on all the pages!!! so i am replying here.
So this time I have rebooted to my external drive with the previous version (10.4.5) to see if indeed it is the 10.4.6 update that seems to have hosed this connection somehow.
HELP please, this is terrible annoying. Is anyone else experiencing this?
    thank you.

  • Can't send mail on iOS 5 devices with iCloud

A long time ago I signed up for a .Mac trial to use that address with iChat. The trial expired, and, as expected, the address continued to work with iChat, though it no longer functioned as an email address. It then came to be my Apple ID. Now, having set that Apple ID up for use with iCloud, my iOS devicess are having trouble sending, and only sending email from my iCloud address. The reason is this: I logged into <username>@mac.com for iCloud (as that's my Apple ID), and everything set up right except the mail address that iOS Mail thinks I have. It thinks the mail address for the iCloud account is <username>@mac.com. When I send mail to <username>@me.com, my iOS devices get it just fine, but when I try to send mail back, it tries to send it from the @mac.com address, and therefore fails as that is not a valid email address.
I've tried to go into the settings and change the email address that it uses for iCLoud, but with no luck. I see a place to change it, but it is grayed out and won't let me select it and bring up a keyboard to change it.
Is there any way to tell it that it assumed the wrong email address for my iCloud? Or is there no way to send iCloud email from my iOS devices?
    Thanks in advance!
P.S. I can send mail via iCloud from the web app and from Apple Mail (OS X Lion), but not from iOS devices because of this glitch. I can also send mail from iOS devices using other email accounts (Gmail, Yahoo).

I found a work around that works.   Got to Settings...Icloud....account......advanced....outgoing mail server.....
    Add an "other" server.
    Host Name p01-smtp.mail.me.com
Put in your me.com email address as username and your Apple ID password
    SSL is on
    Authentication is password
    Server port 587
This worked for me.....I will use this until the bug is fixed.  (you may need to use p02, p03 etc)   Don't make this server your primary.   Leave it in "on" status in the other category.
    Good luck

  • Can't send mail... after 4 months of using it

I'm stumped... help me out please.
When i send a mail out, this message pops up, "Error : This Message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered. Sending the message content to the server failed."
So it's still in my mailbox. But then, it shows up in my gmail account and on my blackberry as a sent mail, but the receiver never gets it. Also, i can still send mail from both my blackberry and gmail.com... just not from Apple Mail.
    What's going on?

Sometimes an ISP provider blocks one of your incoming
Mail ports and "won't notify you". ( Why? probably it's their protection software )
In my case Comcast blocked my Port 25 and my Outgoing kept bouncing.
    Incoming was fine.
Make sure when you change your Port to 587,
You also check "ON" the Secure Sockets Layer box right underneath,
    Then change Authentication: to Password
Then enter your name and password
    and click OK.
The reps at most of the providers
are useless and won't tell you
the second part of the solution.
It took me 2 days and 4 reps
at Comcast to find this out
and 10 hours of trying to
    clean my Mac...
    which they will always
    blame.
    Best of Luck, Tom

  • Receiving mail, but can't send mail with attachments?

    Hello,
I can't send mails anymore, I have been able to send some without any attachments (i.e. reply doesn't work as it automatically attaches the original text). This started 3 days ago. Also, my mail doesn't seem to recognize powerpoint and word docs., but I a know the people who have send me such files do not have VISTA. When I choose "open with" then it works. So I have 2 problems, one being moe urgent then the other.
    1) can't send mail with attachments
    2) .doc (word), .pps (powerpoint)attachments are not always recognized.
    thank you all!!!

Try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select the account > account name , tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and try entering your email account and password and see if it then works

  • Can't send mail out...and can't figure it out

Hi, after 4 hours or researching, I have finally eliminated the setting issues down to one, can't send mail with outside (not within the company) recipient address. I get Relay access denied. I have done a lot of reading and playing with different settings, just can't get it to work. So I decided to ask for some help here.

  • Can't Send MAIL..... again

    hey...
    can;t send mail..
    10.4.10 on a macbook..
can send mail on my .MAC account, but my MAIL 2.0 is no good. it used to work fine...
i travel for a living, could the different log-on places have something to do with it.?
tried all the fixes on the Apple help site, no avail.
using port 587, removed and re-entered account, internet connection is fine...
want to use MAIL to send pix from my iPhoto's...
also, anyone know how to change the name in my account? somehow the spelling of my name is wrong, and every email i send says from 'blank' and it is wrong. looked at every piece of account info and they are all correct. where is the info for FROM: in an email stored...
    cheers..!!!
    ian

I'm having the same problem. I moved to a different apartment. I think my situation is this; my Mail says home and has my .mac account email address listed. My .mac account says .mac and has my .mac email address listed.
I've tried to change the Mail "home" so it doesn't say ,mac, but I haven't figured out how and when I change the email and server settings it tell me that it is an invalid directory.
So it's a circular puzzle and I can't seem to get out.
Is this your problem too? If not, do you know how to fix this one?

  • Can't send mail when connected to vpn

I'm hooked up with a private vpn service using OpenVpn. Everything works beautifully -- except that I can't send mail (receiving is no problem) because the SMTP ports offered through Mail 4.5 (ports 25, 465, 587) are blocked by many VPN providers as an anti-spam measure. I can't use port 993 with SSL because I live in Monaco, which has one ISP -- and it does not provide or support secure email (which is one of the reasons I want the VPN).
Is there another port I can select for SMTP, or some configuration tricks I'm missing? Thanks...:)

    Hello Brian,
Basically this is the VPN group:
crypto isakmp client configuration group open
     key (something)
     dns 192.168.1.1 8.8.8.8
     domain something.com
     pool SDM_POOL_1
     save-password
     backup-gateway 192.168.1.1
     max-users 5
     netmask 255.255.255.0
banner ^Cyou have connected to the vpn-ings!.  well done!    ^
I see that you are doing tunnel all, and you are not split tunneling on this configuration, what you can do is to use split tunnel, under this configuration as follow:
    ip access-list extended SPLIT_TUNNEL
permit ip XXXXX XXXXX 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255
XXXXX --> are the inside subnets
    Then under this:
crypto isakmp client configuration group open
    acl SPLIT_TUNNEL
This will allow you to have access to the internal subnets through the tunnel and have access to internet through the internet connection on your computer.
For further details take a look to this document:
Don't use Any on your ACL statements for split tunneling purposes.
Let me know how it works out!
Please don't forget to rate and mark as correct the helpful Post!

  • Can't send mail with server -- upgrade OS?

I have a new MB, so have been setting things up. In the course of all this, I realized, what with checking settings, etc., that I can easily send mail from the new laptop, which is running whatever the latest OS is -- I think that's 15.5.5, but I have nearly constant difficulties with Mail on my desktop, which is running 15.5.2. I keep getting -- but not always -- messages saying mail can't be sent using the selected server; do I want to try another server or try later, or what. But on the laptop -- I don't get that at all.
I did a search on the Apple site and its recommendation? Upgrade the OS. Now, I can certainly do that, though I always hold my breath for fear something will go wrong and I'll break something that wasn't broken, so to speak.
Is anyone else having this issue? Did upgrading the OS stop it? I probably will have to, because I really do need the Mail program to work as it should. I'm getting ready to move to it from Entourage, but I can't if I can't send mail.

I suddenly started having the can't send mail problem yesterday, and I'm on 10.5.5, so upgrading the OS is not a fix. I followed all the directions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1307?viewlocale=en_US
and that did not work. But it might, if quitting is done at the right time....
I don't know what fixed it, and I'm not sure if it will remain fixed (last night I fixed it on my own, only to find when I started up this morning that it wasn't working again), but today I followed the advice from another discussion to delete the outgoing server (in prefs/accounts/outgoing pulldown menu) and make a new one... make sure to delete all mail that is pending (anything in outbox save as draft and delete)... and to quit. In other words - follow the instructions on the support page or some of the other discussions, but quit before trying to send again. The other thing I did was do a software upgrade - there was something for airport and a security fix that I installed. Whether it was doing just the right stuff in just the right order or if it was the software installs that moved things along, I can't say. By the looks of it, this seems to be a long time issue for Apple Mail, though I've been using it for years without issue.

If you can't send mail in OS X Mail
If you receive this alert or a similar alert when sending a message from your iCloud email address in OS X Mail:
“This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered. The reason for the failure is: An error occurred while delivering this message via the smtp server: server name.”
In OS X Mail, choose Preferences from the Mail menu.
Click Accounts in the Preferences window.
Select your iCloud account from the list of accounts.
    Click the Account Information tab.
Choose your iCloud account from the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) pop-up menu. Example: “Derrick Parker (iCloud)”.
Note: The Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) menu also includes an Edit SMTP Server List command. If you choose this command, be aware that the iCloud SMTP server won't be among the servers that can be edited. This is normal.
If you're attaching a large file
Message attachments can't exceed the maximum size allowed by your email service provider or the recipient's email service provider. The maximum size varies by service provider. Try compressing the filebefore sending it, or send your message without the attachment to verify that there are no issues with sending.

How can I receive Mai ?

Your are asking two different and opposite the questions.
If you can't send mail .... Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.
