I-Phone locked up update - saying connect to itunes but it already is

I'm getting the message to connect to i-tunes but it already is - I cant get any other message and when I look on i-tunes it doesn't show my i-phone.
When I upgraded the software it did say that there was a problem.
Hi there, my first time on here! I too have exactly the same issue with my Iphone, updated to 3.1.3 said there was an issue now the screens frozen with a picture of the USB lead going towards Itunes. I have tried resetting , even getting itunes to actually find my phone but after trying it just comes up saying the action failed.
Is my only option to pop into my local Apple store for advise?

You may need to put the iPad into recovery mode in order to be able to reset it : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If you haven't synced it to that computer before then you won't have a backup on it to restore your content from. Do you have any of your content on it for re-sycning and/or have you been backing up to the cloud ?
You can re-download your apps (if they are still in the store) via the Purchased tab in the App Store app, and you may be able to re-download music, films and tv shows via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app. -
I restored my iPod touch 4G to get iOS 5, I want to restore it to my setting's I had before, so I selected "restore from iTunes backup" on the ipod. "connect to iTunes" on the new set up screen on the ipod. But I already restored it to my previous settings from iTunes. I have tried connecting it and re-syncing it. I am completely lost on what to do. It won't let me do anything! Help?

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY. -

I activated my voiceover and now i cannot enter my passcode to unlock my phone. phone has been disabled due several entering of passcode, phone says connect to iTunes but am unable since phone is still locked. kindly assist
If you have an iTunes backup that includes the photos you may be able to extract them from the backup using a 3rd party utility such as http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/ibackupextractor/

When I got my ipod I made an account with iTunes right from my ipod.Yesterday, I made a password lock to get into my ipod and I couldn't get into it even though I did the correct one. Now it says"connect to iTunes" BUT I can't because I never registered on the computer. I've tried holding the home and sleep/wake button for 10 sec and then only the home for 5sec and that might have reset it, but it didn't help. If any of you guys know what to do so I can unlock it I would appreciate it VERY much.

The only way out of Recovery mode is to connect to iTunes and restore. If you cannot access the computer you normally sync with, you will lose all of your content, unless you sync to iCloud. With no backup present, your content will be lost.
