I got used i phone 3gs 8Gb and I want know what is the existing firmware and how can i update it ?

You can find the existing firmware version from Settings, general, About.
To update, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes on your desktop, connect the phone, and hit "Check for Updates"

I checked the software update link on Nokia-UK site and found the follows info in update over PC:
Personal data such as contacts, photos and messages stored in the phone memory may be deleted during phone software update. Before updating your phone software, we recommend you back up this data to your PC using Nokia PC Suite Software. Once your phone software is updated, you can restore the data using PC Suite.
This is correct text. And update over-the-air text is not correct. Just push next if you saved all data from your phone.

My xpreia not found in about phone software updates

After buying this phone and spending ages setting it all up, I find that I can not activate the my xperia feature. Sony website says go to settings/about phone/software updates to find options but nothing is there, just stating that phone is up to date !
How do I activate my xperia on the E1 ? I am wanting to setup the lost phone feature.

The My Xperia update rolls out gradually and may not be available for all devices yet. If haven't got the My Xperia update you could use the Google tracking service instead in the meantime. Go to https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager for more information.

my itune keep showing message that i tune is downloading software for my phone. but downloading for several minutes it displays message that i tune cannot connect to my phone because it is locked with a passcode. first entre the pass code.
on the other hand phone is started with a message on screen phone is disabled.

There might be a dozen or so different product codes for the same phone model - different operator models carry different firmware and has a unique product code.
You will not get the update for your phone until the operator says yes to it. How long does it take? It depends on the operator, but it might take from a few days to a few weeks. If you want to be sure when an update is available, sign up for the email notification.

Phone Software Update: Razr v3c, Bluetooth and iSync...

This morning, I found a software (read: firmware) update for my Razr. I installed the updated and was pleasantly surprised that on my Windows PC the OBEX file transfers started working. (Now I can finally get my pictures off of it.)
After getting upstairs and re-pairing the phone to my Mac, I was annoyed to learn that the update doesn't allow me to use Bluetooth to sync my contacts, anymore. (Although, USB still works correctly.)
This is more of an FYI to those who run across the same "Software Update" from Motorola.

I tried to upload it before using software updater.
It took long time to download latest firmware (N70 connected to PC) after download,it try to install/update software.That time my phone restart but after some time it says unable to software update.try it..i click try it button but result is same ..unable to update.

Hi you all!
I have been trying to install the version of phone software and the whole thoing brakes up when there is 4 minutes left. The connection between PC and phone has broken for some reason. I tried to re - install with no succes. I've done quite much to make the install complit but it does not work. What should I do??
On ny PC is PCSuite 7.0 installed.

Try these step of resetting your phone before doing the update.
- A restore by keying in *#7780# when on standby - This will not delete any data but will restore all the settings back to default.
If that does not help then you may wanna try doing a soft reset by keying in *#7370# when on standby - This will reformat the phone. DO NOT FORGET TO DO A BACK UP AS THIS WILL ERASE YOUR ENTIRE PHONE MEMORY.
The security code by default is 12345
If this fails as well then you may try doing the Hard reset by performing the 3 finger reset. You can do this by switching the phone on with the '3', '*' and green 'call' buttons pressed at the same time.

i recently got a brand new nokia X6. i tried updating the phone software n my computer got switched off during the process. now my phone wont start. when i press the on/off button it vibrates for some time and then stops.nothing else. is there anything i can do to restore it?

Phone Software update doesn't work with WiFi

Can someone please help.
I have an unlocked N97Mini. I'm trying to update the software version from 10.something to the currently available 12.something. For some reason my USB chord doesn't work (it only charges the phone, that's it) so I'm unable to use PC Suite. I tried to update the software wirelessly using WiFi but it won't let me do it, everytime I select on Phone Software under Application->SF Update it opens a pop up that says I have to use PC Suite. I uploaded other software through WiFi before such as OVI music, but it won't let me do it for the Phone Software.
Please help. How can I update my Phone Software wirelessly?

If you get the message that you need to use PC for updating the phone software, the software for your device variant may not yet be available for over-the-air update and you must do it via PC. You can check also if the same thing happens if you type *#0000# and select in this menu Options > Check for updates.
If PC Suite is not working with your device, try installing the latest Ovi Suite version in your PC.

X6 Phone Software Update Problem

I had a Software Update on my X6. Started downloading it on a poor wi-fi connection. Connection was lost half way through and now I can not finish update. Any ideas?

The only other thing I can suggest is to fully back up your X6, then do a factory reset, then try the OTA update.
