I-phone wifi grey-ed out. Is there a way to restore it? I've been getting it ever since i updated to ios6.1. Some of my apps can't activate too. Can i get some help with it?

Check Settings/General/About and Wi-Fi Address. If it says "N/A" or "000.0000.000" your iPhone needs repairs, and I hope you are in warrenty.
Backup the iPhone and restore it if that does not show up in about. If a full restore does not fix the issue, your iPhone needs repairs.
Grey Wi-Fi is usually indicative of a chip loose in the iPhone or a serious software issue.

Dear apple, I am really dissapointed with you. Around January 2013, my iPhone 4s 16GB White has hardware issues, which was the Wi-Fi grey out. The wifi grey out means that I can't access the wifi on/off button, and also it has no connection. I have put up with it for months, until june 7 when I decided it has been long enough, and I got a replacement. I told the genius bar what happened, and I already did the so called "steps" that apple reccommended on the site, which was reset network settings, restore iPhone. The genius bar gave me a replacement phone, so I was expecting that the problem would be over, but it isn't. It seems that it's iOS 6.1.3 which is the case of most public complaints on apple iPhone products. Not even 3 weeks after I got the phone replaced, it is doing it again, so I suspect I'm just going to get a replacement again? Unfortunately I only have until 5th of july 2013 until my 1 year warranty is up. After that, any issue I have, I have to purchase apple care. People are expecting this problem to be fixed but I don't see it being solved any time soon. This is horrible and really low, because I have been a good customer, when I talk to the people at the genius bar, I show the utmost respect I can to them for the work they put into their job, but somewhere there is a problem where something has gone wrong. Because of that, people that only have a one year warranty (which i received because I purchased my apple iPhone at an Optus outlet, once that one year warranty is up, I have to pay for a problem that isn't even my fault? That isn't how it should work, you should be fixing this problem so people can be happy customers and leave happy. Obviously you don't all know how to do your jobs, because if you did, we wouldn't have this problem. I would like a replacement phone, ONCE AGAIN. My iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPad 2 are running 6.1.3 with no such problem and the same with the overwhelming majority of iOS devices running 6.1.3.

Hi I bought my iPhone back in October in Us from Tmobile, since December the wifi greyed out and hasn't worked once (been living on data) now recently the screen goes crazy, it types by its self unlocks the phone (dont have a password) sometimes calls people etc... now the thing is I recently moved to Dubai and I cant go to a apple store as we do not have one here, so could I ship my phone to States and have apple repair it or give me a replacement if I pay for their shipping costs back to Dubai ? If not jailbroken, restore the iOS. Most likely there is a hardware problem
The warranty is valid only in the USA. Apple will not accept shipment from or ship to any address outside the USA for this phone.

I've had my 4s for about 2 years now and since updating to IOS 7.04 my wifi has greyed out and will not work. I've tried all the reseting issues(airplane mode, reset network settings, erase all settings), all of these have fixed issue for about 20 minutes and then wifi greys out again. I went to an Apple store and they were willing to change the phone for a 200$ fee. Seriously?? I can't believe that Apple would do this. This is my first experience with an Apple product being defective and I was appalled. I was with blackberry for over 10 years and anytime I had an issue with warranty there was not questions asked and device was replaced and I did not have to pay anything. I was at the Apple store at 9am and there was about 50 customers with issues. WOW!! All that to say that I'm now stuck with a device that has now WIFI. This is just great.

Like I said on my previous post. I am not complaining about the warranty, If the phone becomes defective and it is my fault and I don't have a warranty anymore, I'm fine with paying to get a new phone. I'm just saying, when its become clear that this is an issue with the update that Apple has sent and to no fault of mine that my wifi is not working anymore(and others can concur that they've been having the same wifi issue after updating to IOS 7 and later), it would be very sincere of a company as big as Apple and seems willing to help their customers stay with their products, that they should be abit more attentive to the consumer that spends their hard earned money on their product. Especially when it seems to be that the phone is not working because of their updates that they have sent.

The wifi on my phone seems to have greyed out!!!!! AGAIN!!!!!!! This on the phone that i got after i got the old one replaced for the same reason!!!!! I visited the apple store and they said that its the logic board and that I will have to get a new phone and for that i'll have to call apple store . Apple care guys just keep transferring calls from one department to another!!!!

this worked, in terms of resolving greyed out. I still cannot get network though.
turn on airplane mode
turn phone off
take sim out
put sim back in and turn phone on
wifi available again
hopefully you can get it to find a netwotk too.

settings-general-reset-reset all settings
now reconnect to wifi
settings- wifi- click network name- enter password - join
if issue persists back up and restore as new via iTunes

Wifi greyed out after ios 6.1 update

My WIFI greyed out after 6.1 update, then my power buttion failed. Basically this update ruined my phone which was working perfectly. Does anyone have any soultions to these problems? Thank you.

Just out of warranty. This is a software issue. everything was ok until the software update. Apple just need to sort it out.

Newest OS. Never happened with old OS! Cycling phone on/off does not help. Ignoring message causes phone to cycle off then on. After first time this happened, I restored. Six days later...same problem! Clearly a new fix is necessary. Suggestions?

I have not tried that...I will look up the process so that I can do it correctly (and still transfer all of my files, contacts, etc). Any suggestions? What is the advantage of restoring as a new device..is this more akin to a complete wipe of a hard drive?

Iphone 4s- 6.1.2- wifi greyed out?

Ever since I upgraded from ios 6.1 to 6.1.1 then to 6.1.2 I have had my wifi greyed out and unable to use it. This has been like this for a month now.
I have reset all settings, restored from points before this update, restored and set up as a new iphone, deleted all data and settings.
Still nothing, the problem has persisted.
Will I have to go to Apple Genius bar now? As its really annoying...

Hi all my iphone 4s isnt connecting to wifi greyed out since updating ios7 tryed all troubleshooting tips etc its 15 mths old so not covered but after contacting apple i can send it for repair for €211 this seems harsh seens its their fault issue only started due to the update have read why , read loads discussions and so many with same problem So have repair set up is it even worth it or as anyone done this what was outcome ??

Some folks think the problem is due to poor solder connections of the WiFi chip on the card. Heating may expand the joints to cause temporary connectivity. The chip itself could be of low tolerance, and the iOS update causes it to fail the threshold. If you have tried the software resets, then the cure is to reflow the solder of the chip to the WiFi card, or to replace the WiFi card. Apple will not "own" this problem, even though it seems to be widespread. Apple offers to renew your contract for a new iPhone at $199. Certain repair shops will tackle this problem, although many local shops will not. In the US try iFix Miami Beach. It has no correlation. You do not have to have an Apple ID in order house an iPhone. An Apple ID is only needed to use iCloud and iTunes & App Store on an iPhone. You can have an iPhone set up as new, no user data whatsoever, and still connect to wi-fi.
Making a new Apple ID had nothing to do with fixing the wi-fi on your iPhone. It's like saying that putting a new driver into a car suddenly fixed the transmission problem.

Wifi is grayed out, iphone 4s, iOS 8.1.1 update (11/29,14) just killed the wifi dead. iOS 8 updates killed Bluetooth....
I just don't understand this at all....
