I photo 09 disappeared photos after import

After photographing my daughters 6th birthday party , I imported the photos to iphoto. All seemed fine and I chose to delete photos from my camera when asked. A problem with iphoto occurred and the photos have gone from both my camera and iphoto library.
From the other posts I can see a course of action, which I'm now going to try. Isn't it time that Iphoto removed 'the delete photos' option at import?

  • How do delete photos from iphone after import to new photos app?

With iphoto (or aperture which I own), after importing photos I was always asked if I wanted to remove the photos's from my phone. With the new photo's app I don't get that option, and I certainly don't want to delete 1200 photos by having to individually select each one on the phone. Any ideas?

You should ask on the forum that Apple told you to use for Beta software discussions. This isn't the place. The moderators will likely soon remove your post.

  • Blurry photos on iPad after import

After importing pictures from iPhoto or a separate folder, many photos take several seconds to come into focus when viewing. This makes it useless to try to view in slideshow format. Is there something I am missing? These are hi-res photos taken with a high end camera. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

  • IPhoto won't delete photos from camera after importing. It used to....

Hello...anybody have any thoughts on this issue? I always check the 'delete after importing' option when connecting camera and importing new photos. Recently, the photos have remained on the camera and I have to delete pictures from my camera manually instead of iPhoto doing this. It seems that after I upgraded to OS X 10.5 I noticed this issue. Needless to say if I forget to delete from the camera, iPhoto wants to import the old photos when I have new pics to import. Thanks for any help.
    Camera is an Olympus SLR.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
We've seen occasional reports of this with 10.5. Start with the troubleshooting basics:
    1. Repair Permissions using Disk Utility
    2. Delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. You'll need to reset your User options afterwards.
    3. Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.
That said, experienced users do not recommend letting iPhoto delete the pics from your card. If there has been a problem with the transfer you won't know about it until after the erase is complete. It's a couple of seconds work to reformat the card using your camera.

  • Rotate Photos Before Or After Importing To PC? Videos Won't Play On PC!!!

    Hello,
I have an iPhone 5, before that a 3GS, and I've had NOTHING BUT FRUSTRATION with my photos & videos.
Well I'll get to my other complaints below, but for now; is it best to rotate the photos before I import to pc? If not do I correct the rotation in the import software (scanner & camera wizard etc), or shall I wait to rotate my 10,000 photos once I get them in my pc's final folder? Note not all 10,000 photos need rotating.
MY OTHER FRUSTRATIONS....I still have ALL my photos & videos 10,000 of them still on my camera roll, because I'm afraid the import may not be good, WHY???????.........WELL....Some of them would not import properly.........AND...THE DAMNED VIDEOS I just can't seem to get them to play on my p.c.
MY PC is old, but has 1 GB Ram and a 1.04 AMD Processor, with an older graphics card, but cost me $500 10 years ago, the motherboard is a nice one but is 8 years old, my p.c. is non-propietary.
WHY WON'T MY VIDEOS PLAY ON MY P.C......
AND AT WHAT POINT DO I SPEND THE HOURS & HOURS ROTATING MY 10,000 PHOTOS BEFORE IMPORT, WITHIN THE IMPORT PROGRAM OR AFTER I IMPORT THEM INTO MY PERSONAL FOLDER?
All I get from Apple is that it's something to do with me removing all the photos from the camera roll then putting them back on the phone in the photo library?
WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO BE SO COMPLICATED?
DO I NEED A NEW COMPUTER?
WHAT ARE THE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS?.........I THINK I MEET THEM
    PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Without knowing exactly what happens when you try to play a video, close all apps and reset your iPad.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
IF that fails to help, and it very well could, you should describe what is happening so that more specific suggestions can be offered.

  • My new iPad photos are blurry after import

After I import new photos into my new iPad 3, all the photos are low res, blurry, and somewhat pixelated. All the images are coming from iPhoto and a very very high resolution JPEGs. Is there a setting off somewhere? Thank you!

Two options - Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank power On again in the normal way.] It is absolutely/appsolutely safe!
If this does not sort it deselect the photos and do a sync, then reselect them and do another sync!

  • Can I delete my photos from HDD after importing them to Iphoto library?

I switched from Windows to Mavericks. I have many photos on my HDD (about 1 5000) structured in different folders with some files. Now I"ve imported all of this photos to my iPhoto library. As a result I got one big file of iPhoto library. The question is what happened if I delete all those old folders and leave only that one library file?

    Depends:
Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.
If you're running a managed library then you can delete those folders.

  • Photos appear dark after importing into iPhoto

I am having an issue importing photos into iPhoto 6. When I download photos from my digital camera (Canon Rebel XTi) they view perfectly in Preview.app. Once I import them into iPhoto they all appear dark, however I can open the photo file from the iPhoto directory with Preview.app or even Photoshop and they appear fine. Any suggestions?
    Intel iMac 20" 2.16 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

The images appear to be darkened as if they were taken in low light or overly saturated colors in iPhoto only. I can open them in Photoshop or Preview.app and they look as they should. The camera is using sRGB Profile. The option for iPhoto to add a ColorSync profile is off. I get the same results with this features on or off.

  • Photos are blurry after import

I just downloaded Aperture.  All photos have been imported from iPhoto and looked fine.  I closed Aperture, re-opened and now the photos are blurry (the thumbnails are clear).  I can't make photo adjustments because it says offline.  What am I doing wrong here?  Why did it work prior to closing and re-opening the program?

How did you import from iPhoto?
The correct way would be as outlined here:
    http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/#chapter=4%26section=10
Also check to see what your Preview size and quality are set to in Aperture Preferences (using Quality '8' and the resolution of your monitor - marked with an asterisk - should work well).

  • Can I delete photos from iPhoto after importing them to an external hard drive?

For a while my family has been experiencing extreme slowness on our early 2008 iMac running OS X Lion.  We tried many different ways to speed it up.  I recently bought a new external hard-drive and was going to put some of our media on the hard-drive.  Is it possible that I would be able to put my photos, videos, and music onto the hard-drive and delete them from my Mac to possibly speed it up.  Also is there is any other possible way to speed it up?

Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

  • Some photos dont work after importing from iPhoto 4?

    Hello,
I recently upgraded from iPhoto 4 to iPhoto 6. I updated my library by copying the iLife 04 photo library to my new iMac. When I opened up iPhoto 6, it updated the library, and everything worked fine, or it seemed. All the pictures and thumbnails were there, but on around 1/3 of the pictures, I only have a thumbnail. If I click on the thumbnail, the picture never loads. On ones with a picture it loads very fast.
    Any ideas?
I have the library backed up on DVD, so im not worried about losing the data, just want it to work.
    Thanks,
    Adam

    Adam:
It may be an ownership/access problem. Manually set the ownership and access on the iPhoto Library folder as follows:
Setting Permissions for iPhoto Library Folder
1 - Select the iPhoto Library folder and type Command-I.
2 - When the Info window comes up go to the Ownership and Permissions section and make sure You have Read & Write permission and that the Owner and Group have Read & Write also. Others - Read Only.
3 - Then click on the "Apply to enclosed items..." button.
See if that may help. If not try selecting one of the files in the Original folder and type Command-I to bring up the Info window. In that window set Preview as the default application and click on the Apply to all button. Good luck.

  • Disappearing mailboxes after import from iMac (10.7.5) to MBP (10.8.4)

I've been using an iMac (OS X 10.7.5, Mail v 5.3) for all mail functions for years and recently bought a refurb MacBook Pro Retina (OS X 10.8.4, Mail v 6.5). I set up the MBP to import all applications, files, accounts, etc., from the iMac. This all went pretty well, except for Mail. The mailboxes and folders I had set up on the iMac did not appear in the Mail app on the MBP. I managed OK with this setup for awhile, but the other day I decided to try to get all the folders to be the same on both machines, so I imported them via WiFi. After doing so, all but one of the mailboxes on the iMac have been renamed as /Volumes/[username]/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes/[mailbox name]. All are empty, except for the one which came through OK. I would like to get those old folder names with the contents inside as they were before.
As for the MBP, the folders appear under /On My Mac/Import/[folder name], and the corresponding emails are found within. Only issue is that there are strangely-named sub-folders, such as /Deleted Messages/F64553E2-9025-47E3-9941-53048CE9B7D1; inside that is a folder named Data; inside that are folders 0 & 1. This goes on for a few more levels until the bottom folder, Messages, shows up with deleted messages, the latest of which is dated 6/23/13 (the most recently dated deleted message in the topmost Deleted Messages folder is 7/5/13). Naturally, I'd like to clean this mess up and, eventually, get all mail folders on both machines synced.
Anyone out there think you might be able to help? Thanks.
BTW, I thought it best to leave out details of any IOS issues with my iPhone mail and iPad mail. I'm mainly concerned with the MBP and the iMac.

Select all your mailboxes on the old Mac, and then select
    Mailbox ▹ Export Mailbox...
from the Mail menu bar. Export the mailboxes to the Desktop folder. Transfer to the new Mac.
On the new Mac, import the mailboxes you transferred:

  • IPhoto 7.1.5 - Disappearing Photos After Import of New Photos

This is a revisit of an earlier problem that has been addressed in several discussions. The problem is reproducible.
Background: Running 10.6.7 and iPhoto 7.1.5
I have a 14 GB Photo Library with > 10 thousand photographs. After importing another 100 photos, iPhoto AGAIN showed ONLY the latest event photos. Closing iPhoto and reopening iPhoto shows all of the events for ~1 sec and then "poof" the photo library says that there are 0 photos. I have followed the instructions in numerous discussions including my earlier post. Nothing works permanently.
SUMMARY: Repeated rebuilds of the photo library with iPhoto Library Manager (iPLM) bring the events/photos back until the next photo import. Then I am back where I started.
    I have done the following:
    1. Booted on the startup CD and checked and repaired all disk permissions (many) and other disk errors (none).
    2. Made a backup of the photo library.
    3. Rebuild photo library in iPhoto.  No joy. This NEVER helps anything.
    4. Deleted pLists and opened iPhoto. No help.
    5. Ran BatChmod to check on all of the permissions to RW. No permission problems are seen now.
    6. Ran iPhoto Library Manager and confirmed permissions set there are OK. It is important to make sure that the permissions are  set correctly to RW in iPLM.
    7. Ran iPLM and I can access ALL of the events and photos. (This is where the last discussion ended.)
    8. Imported more photos from my iPhone and  “poof” no more photos seen in iPhoto. I Go back to step 7 and wait 1.5 hours for a rebuild in iPLM.
Any further suggestions would be helpful. This is occurring after EVERY import of new photos. As long as I do not import more photos I can access all events and photos.

    Tony:
It could be that the card has been compromised and iPhoto doesn't recognize it. Open Image Capture and see if you can upload the photos to a folder on the desktop. If that can be done reformat the card with the camera, take a couple of test shots and try again.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Why do my newly imported photos "disappear" after I close the iphoto library?

I connect my camera or iphone and iphoto automatically opens.  I click on import photos.  Photos are imported successfuly.  I can then crop, rotate, enhance each photo.  I then close my iphoto.  When I re-open iphoto my previously important photos are not there.  If I reconnect my camera it will identify the photos that I just imported as new photo and will import them again.  But as soon as I close iphoto they are not saved.  To make this even more complecated my husbands profile allows him to upload photos.  Why is this happening?

You're right the adjustments and changes are applied to the library as they are made.
Is this something that just started happening or is this a new Aperture installation?
If it has just started happening and nothing else has changed on your system then you should start with the Aperture 3:Troubleshooting Basics. I'd specifically look at doing a permission repair and library rebuild.
If this is a new installation where is your Aperture library located? Internal or external disk? If it is external make sure the disk is formatted as OS X Extended.
In either case post back with the specifics of your system.

  • Imported photos disappearing in iPhoto '09

I have just purchased a new MacBook with iPhoto 09. I transferred my existing photos from an external hard drive to iPhoto (approx 7,000 photos). Directly after the import they were visible in iPhoto. However, when I closed and reopened iPhoto they had disappeared. Only photos that I imported directly from my camera are visible there. I cannot find them on a search for jpeg files. They must be somewhere on the hard drive, I had 114 gb before the import and only 90 now! Any ideas? Many thanks.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
If you're running a Managed library, then it's the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing
If you're running a Referenced Library, then you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced and iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing.

  • ReImport Failure after Photos Disappear from Catalog in 2.1

Mac OS (Tiger). Lightroom 2.1. Several photos disappeared from my catalog. They are visible in Bridge. I tried to do an import from disk to get them back by selecting the missing picture in the import dialog and then clicking import. After clicking import I get a message that the file won't be imported because it is already in the catalog (even though it is not visible). If I then select the name of the file in the "will not be imported list" and click on the "show in library" button I am taken to a picture other than the one I selected for import.
I have been able to re-import the images by renaming them outside Lightrom, and doing an import from disk. Once the images are inside lightroom I can rename them to their original name. At that point I get a message saying that the file can't be renamed, and Lightroom then proceeds to rename the file to its original name.
This is making me very nervous about the integrity of the catalog in 2.1. I don't know if this is a 2.1 problem or a 2.0 problem because I noticed the missing images weeks after I upgraded from 2.0 to 2.1.
So far I have noticed only two images that can't be seen in the library module and can't be reimported (unless they are renamed outside Lightroom).
    Any suggestions?

I have disabled Library filters and the problem persists. Also, I have seen the same problem on two different computers under both Tiger and Leopard, Apparently, the disappearing images only disappear AFTER an editt and same in Photoshop.
