I-Photo 11 not recognizing Olympus E-PL1?
Just bought an Olympuse E-PL1 before Christmas.
IPhoto 11 doesn't recognize the camera - (calls it unknown or something like that). It will download the photos - but then sends them to the beginning of my events rather than the end. I downloaded some raw images - seemed to take them - but not certain.
I never had this problem with a Nikon I previously owned.
Local Apple store say's it shouldn't be a problem since Raw Camera updates are backward compatible and I downloaded the latest Raw Camera update.
Any thoughts anyone?
Thanks for responding and sorry for any the confusion in my question.
With my previous Nikon when I downloaded pictures in I-Photo it (something) identified the camera in I-Photo because Nikon D60 popped up in the left hand corner as the download began - that is not happening with the new Olympus - instead I'm getting "unknown camera" or something like that. I realize thats not neccessarily a problem but after being used to the Nikon it was unusual.
As to my second issue - when downloading from the Nikon the images all went to the bottom of the Events, where I could easily name etc. Now the images are going to the top of Events so then i have to drag them down to the bottom - again this is something new with the Olympus. I checked out the view menu on I-Photo - but that doesn't seem to help. I don't want the existing events re-sorted - what I want is for new downloads to go to the bottom of the Events.
Finally yes I checked and RAW photos from the Olympus are being downloaded as RAW.

Zen sleek photo drivers not recognized by computer
I have a zen sleek photo that is not recognized by my laptop. I've reinstalled the software 3x and it still gives me a dialog box stating that "an error occurred in the installation of the device.the data is invalid " The software works in my other 2 desktop computers. I had the same situation happen with my zen
micro and I had to edit the registry. I was hoping somebody know the link on that fix. I got it on this board.
Any advice would be geatly appreciated..branded34,

Iphone not recognizing photos put into the shared folder
I'm trying to import new photos from a shared folder. I just dragged photos from my main account into the shared folder so other accounts on the same computer can drag them into their own iphoto. I had three sources of the new photos; canon camera, iphone4 and a sony. They are all working fine in my main account but when one of my user accounts tries to drag these iPhoto complains many of the photos are not recognized. After some discovery I found that many of these are "read only" and if I make it read/write it fixed the issue. I can't seem to find a way to use the "info" to change all the files at the same time. I have hundreds of photos I need to do this to.
Is there any other solution to this problem?
Was there a better way to do this from the start to avoid this situation?
This is very frustrating...
ThanksIs there any other solution to this problem?
Use iPhoto Sharing:
Enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account(s). In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.

A new problem with CS5 forced me to download PScc but the problem is still there. I am getting tmp00000001 in photo merge when importing multiple files from inside PS and if trying from bridge I am getting a pop up box telling me I need to select more than 1 file. Photoshop potomerge is not recognizing my selections from bridge..!! please help.. my knowledge of computers is a 3 on a scale of 1-10
if i run this particular code
( SELECT
AccountDetails.CUSTOMERNUMBER, AccountDetails.ACCOUNTNUMBER, CUSTOMERDETAILS.CDTITLE, CUSTOMERDETAILS.CDFIRSTNAME, CUSTOMERDETAILS.CDLASTNAME, AccountDetails.ACCOUNTTYPE,
AccountDetails.ORIGINALCONTRACTENDDATE, AccountDetails.CONTRACTTERM, AccountDetails.CONTRACTENDDATE, AccountDetails.BRANCHAREA, AccountDetails.PRODUCTTYPE,
AccountDetails.HOUSEBANKACCOUNT, AccountDetails.CARMODEL, AccountDetails.CARLICENCE, AccountDetails.ARREARSBALANCE, AccountDetails.CODEBTOR, AccountDetails.GUARANTORNUMBER
FROM AccountDetails
JOIN CUSTOMERDETAILS ON AccountDetails.CUSTOMERNUMBER = CUSTOMERDETAILS.CUSTOMERS1
WHERE EXISTS
( SELECT *
FROM Dcaaccountallocation
JOIN DebtEpisodes ON DebtEpisodes.ACCOUNTID = Dcaaccountallocation.ACCOUNTID
WHERE Dcaaccountallocation.dcaid = 41
AND Dcaaccountallocation.status = 2
AND DebtEpisodes.DCASentDate IS NULL
AND Dcaaccountallocation.ACCOUNTID = AccountDetails.ACCOUNTNUMBER
AND DebtEpisodes.DCAORLAWYER = 'DCA'
This returns 1 row of data
However if i run a small part of the above code...
SELECT *
FROM Dcaaccountallocation
JOIN DebtEpisodes ON DebtEpisodes.ACCOUNTID = Dcaaccountallocation.ACCOUNTID
WHERE Dcaaccountallocation.dcaid = 41
AND Dcaaccountallocation.status = 2
It returns a lot of rows with a status of 2
Now i presume what I am going to do is to ensure that all the fields provide satisfactory requirements, with regards to the above code. Although I have many records in all the stated tables already.

Is there a way to restore photos from Drop box to my desktop iPhoto in a large batch instead of one at a time? I tried and a zip file was downloaded but won't open. Says file format not recognized. I see how to do it one at a time with the "download" button in Dropbox but that's so cumbersome for lots of photos.
Have you tried these avenues?

IPod Photo not recognized on Windows XP
I bought my Ipod Photo more than a year ago--and I've had numerous problems with it. Before my one-year-limited-warranty expired, Apple replaced my first iPod Photo for a brand new one--the one I have now.
The iPod itself seems to be working fine. However, one day it froze so I had to reset it--losing all of my music. Then I plugged it into my computer, but to my surprise, not one of the songs on my iTunes was transferred to my iPod.
When plugged into the computer, the "Do Not Disconnect" screen appears, and iTunes does open. However, nothing more happens. It seems like iTunes may recognize the iPod for a bit, then that's it.
Please help with me with my problem!
acer Aspire 3000 notebook Windows XP brand new computerI have had much the same problem. I originally ordered the 40G ipod, and was 'upgraded' to the 60G (this was when the 60G was first released). The thing has NEVER worked properly! When it does connect and upload music, it's OK....until I would try to connect it again to add new stuff. More often than not, it would need to be completely reset, losing everything in memory. Needless to say, I haven't used it much. Now I am planning a trip and wanted to bring along some tunes. I've charged and reset the ipod, I'm running the latest iTunes version, and still nothing. It's not recognized in either windows or iTunes. The best it can do is tell me it needs to be reformatted, but then it just sits there forever saying 'Do Not Disconnect'. I'd love to be able to just get to the point where I could restore or update the software, but that seems impossible.
At this point, I really would like to upgrade to a movie-capable ipod, but my experience so far leaves much to be desired. Any suggestions?

ATP Photo Finder GPS not recognized on Mac as USB flash drive
Much like the problem with the Sony GPS-CS1, it appears the ATP Photo Finder device also will not be recognized as a flash drive on a Mac. Tiger worked with the Sony for awhile, but recent updates (as well as Leopard 10.5.x) have made it no longer work. There are other topics on the GPS-CS1 in these forums detailing those problems.
I picked up an ATP Photo Finder from My Discount Digital to try it out. It logs data, then you insert the memory card in to the device and it will GPS stamp the JPGs. It sounds like a great idea, but when it didn't work I was going to have to plug it up to my Mac and use PC software via Parallels to reprocess the images.
It is not recognized -- and under Parallels, a new USB device shows up simply listed as "U" under the pull-down menu. When I try to select it, it claims it is already in use. Methinks Apple Mac OS X is semi-grabbing the device but not being able to use it.
Odd.
So I post this in case others have the ATP Photo Finder and have problems... Maybe we can figure something out.Well, here's an odd (and quick) self follow-up... I was reading an Apple Help file and it suggested looking at the System Profiler to see if the device is being recognized. Indeed, it showed the "U" and some garbled characters (so something is not quite right). It also showed it was plugged in through my powered USB hub. I bought this hub after running in to issues with devices that would not work plugged in to the iMac keyboard... On a whim, I plugged the ATP Photo Finder in to the non-powered USB port on the keyboard and ... it worked. It still shows up as U(garbled) but I was able to access it from the Mac Finder.

I cannot email a photo using iPhoto "share. I keep getting "username/password not recognized". I used to use this function all the time but all of a sudden, I keep getting this message.
In iPhoto, open Preferences (under iPhoto in the menu bar) and click the "Accounts" tab on top. Make sure your email account(s) is/are set up there correctly, just as they are in Apple's Mail. Make sure the password in included.

When I try to send an email with photo attachment on my iPad a screen appears which states " the sender is not recognized by the server" . What do I have to change so I can always send emails fr om my iPad with or without attachments. I am a novice!!!!!!
If you purchased about 2 years ago new I am sure it is a Intel iMac. To find out what type of iMac you have just click on the Apple menu item in the finder and select about this Mac. I would check the ISP mail site and get the correct outgoing mail server info.

Tried loading my raw files shot w my new Sony a7 and its sd card into lightroom4. Got a message: "The files are not recognized by the raw format in lightroom"
Does Lightroom 4 not work with the Sony A7?
Thanks,Lightroom 4 cannot read the RAW photos from a Sony A7
You would have to download and install the FREE Adobe DNG Converter version 8.5 and then convert your RAW to DNG, and then import the DNGs into Lightroom 4
You could also purchase Lightroom 5.5, which will have the capability to read the RAWs directly. -

UPDATE.... PROBLEM SOLVED.. LOOK BELOW.. FRED'S SUGGESTIONMessage Edited by dindia on 07-24-2006 2:49 AMfred38 wrote:
Hi i had this problem too and the solution was amazingly simple. (I found it by searching on Google for ages!) Turn your pc off and then unplug it from the mains for approximately 30 mins. I know it sounds crazy but apparantly static electricity can cause problems with usb devices particularly if you have your device already plugged in to USB port-Windows forgets its there! After 30 mins plug your pc back in to the mains and voila! your Zen will be recognised again.
2:44 AM : After 30 minutes of trying to fall asleep with no success turned on computer and connected the Zen... Didn't have much expectations, but IT WORKED! IT REALLY DID! WINDOWS FOUND THE DEVICE CORRECTLY AND EVERYTHING IS WORKING NOW!
THANSKS FRED!

I am not able to mail the photos from iPhoto. Its always saying that the email address it's not recognized. Another situation is that when I try to add my me account in the preferences account, doesn't recognize my @me password. Tks for any help! :-)
1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now? -
Aperture 3.2.3 Not Recognizing Photos from Approved Camera
Hi,
A month ago I took several photos with a Panasonic GX-1 in RAW format, which was just recognized in the new software update as having RAW compatibiltiy with Aperture. Prior to the update, the photos do not appear, and it stated "Unsupported File Format." I updated the software yesterday and the photos taken with the GX-1 still do not appear and the same message, "Unsupported File Format", appears.
Can someone help me out, as based on my prior posts on this issue, I was told the photos would be fine and would appear in Aperture once its software was updated to recognize RAW files from this camera.
Thanks much!!Thank you so much, Leonie. I thought downloading the new Aperture software verison 3.2.3 would take care of downloading the new RAW update for this camera, but I guess it did not? So I am presuming one always has to download the latest RAW update, in addition to the updated software?
Thank you again.
Robert
