I photo (8.1.2)  on yosemite operating system

Can I open and use an old version of i photo (8.1.2) saved on an external hard drive on the yosemite operating system?

So in the future, when I want to work with old photos that are saved on an external hard on old versions of i-photo, is there any way to keep this i-photo library up to date ?
As Larry and Kappy said, you can open the libraries created in iPhoto 8.1.2 with  your current iPhoto version.
Since you are keeping your libraries on an external drive, check the file system of the drive. Older versions of iPhoto did not check, if the file system is compatible with iPhoto. If your drive is not formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled), move your iPhoto Library to your internal drive, before you try to open and upgrade it, or iPhoto may not be able to open it,  see this link:  iPhoto: Issues with FAT32-formatted drives
Also, you may notice, that books or slideshows may look differently. The templates changed between versions.  Before you open an olde photo book in the new iPhoto, have your printed copy ready, so you can compare what has changed, and if all text fields are still complete.

  • Why does my Illustrator or photoshop  are not want to open on my MacBook Pro now that I installed the new Yosemite operating system?

I downloaded the new Yosemite operating system on my MacBook Pro last night and this morning my straighter does not want to open. When I click on the icon to open it gives me an air message sending me to download a legacy format of Java generation SE and when I do you download and install it, even after refreshing the. MacBook several times I still don't get any positive results as far as having the software open. Does somebody know why and what I can do so that I can run my existing programs from Adobe with my new Apple Yosemite operating system. I am drowning here

The easiest way is to go to the Apple site and find the Java for OSX 2014-001 and install it. There have been some reports of blank pages returned so you may need to try several browsers.

Have been using Lightroom on my Apple computer for years. Now, ever since upgrading to Apple's  Yosemite operating system I get an error message (150:30) every time I try to open a lightroom file. Has anyone else experienced this problem?  Also how do I subscribe to Adobe's Premium Support? Every time I've tried (through contact support) I just get taken on an unending loop.

I think we need a lot more information.
Exactly what does the message say?
Exactly what files are you trying to open?
Exactly how are you trying to open them (what menu command or button or mouse action or keyboard shortcut)?
And lastly, what version of Lightroom are you using?

I just downloaded Yosemite operating system and my computer is extremely slow but also not opening my Adobe applications.  Can anyone help?  thanks!

First, tell Apple about your problems... with details... and hope for an update that fixes your slowness
Second, Yosemite sometimes has problems, often related to "default" permissions needing to be changed

I need a driver for a Canon MP 450 all in one printer to be used with a Mac mini with the Yosemite operating system.
Canon does not have a driver. Third party providers drivers do not work with "Yosemite."

    Thank yoU!

I purchase my programs (Adobe InDesign/Illustrator/PS via Adobe Cloud and just updated those a few days ago.  I'm at a loss as to what to do.  Is there anyway to go backwards and not have Yosemite?  It's awful, everything is slow.

I have updated my Mac to Yosemite operating system and now I cannot open my Adobe Creative Suite applications. What can I do?

What a waste of space to paste the code.
Why not ask in the iLife > iPhoto forum where your question belongs.

  • How can I get Aperture 2 to work under Yosemite operating system

I updated to Yosemite and now Aperture 2.x won't work

You can't use Aperture 2 with Yosemite. Only Aperture 3.6 will work.
Either buy the Aperture 3.6 upgrade from  the App Store, or downgrade again, if you have a full backup of your system:  OS X Mavericks: Revert to a previous OS X version
The last compatibility upgrade for Aperture 2 has been for MacOS X 10.6.8. All later MacOS X version had compatibility issues with Aperture 2.

  • I have CS4 Web Premium and I am what to know if there are issues in this pack in Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite) operation system?

I am trying to get support in CS4 Web Premium, but I could get any support from Adobe (there is no phone, e-mail or chat for this problem). And the support page is a loop to go nowhere.
I hope I will find my answer here, hopefully. Otherwise is better to star looking for answers in other places than in Adobe.
    Thanks anyway.

Thanks for your time and your reply.
And I do understand what you are saying, but client support can be as simple as the ability to send a direct e-mail and receive a diret answer, even if is it "Is not possible".
From my own experience, small software companies can do it, and even open source software companies do it, with much less resources (probably they have a big will in provide a good service).
And for a big company can be as simples as 1-2 days testing, for main tasks and give some feedback to many, many users.
Unfortunately, some big companies like Adobe just don't care. Unfortunately. So I will start looking to companies o actually care.
    But anyway, that's my decision.
Thanks once again, I will see, somewhere else.
    Cheers

1 - you need to update your profile as you state that you have OS X 10.6.3 in it
2 - for Yosemite you need to backup your iPhoto library and install iPhoto 9.6 from the App store - if you are upgrading from iPhoto '08 or earlier you need to also run the iPhoto Library upgrader prior to launching iPhoto 9.6
3 - Your photos are NOT in iCloud - it is not a place to store photos - it is only to move photos between devices (MyPhotoStream) or people (shared PhotoStreams) - they are (by default) in the iphoto library in your pictures folder - if you did not backup your iphoto library prior to erasing you disk then they are gone
