I plug in my iPhone so I can sync it with my computer but nothing pops up. How do I sync it?
I plugged in my phone as usual and normally it automatically starts to sync but this time it didn't. I have no idea how to manually sync it. Please help. Any suggestions would be nice. Thanks!
Not Sync. There should be a button at the top of iTunes on the right:
It would appear in the space above if an update is available. This is at the upper part of the iTunes Window on the right after you select your device from the sidebar.

If it is an Apple cable it should have come in a white Apple box with an Apple label. If it didn't it is not an Apple cable. You can buy Apple cables at any Apple store or Apple's online store. There are also high quality cables from some of Apple's business partners such as Griffin.
For a 3GS most cables should work, Apple or not. This is not true for the iPhone 5 and later. So the problem may not be the cable; inspect the connector on the bottom of the phone; if it is full of lint, dirt or moisture try cleaning it. Also look for bent pins. -
I just recently got an iphone and put a passcode on it and i forgot the passcode. So i went online and reset it and did what the website told me to do. But it is still requiring a passcode.
There are two things to try. If the first thing you try fails, try the next.
Two Button Reset.
This is the least likely to result in loss of data. Read that again, especially the phrase "least likley."
Unplug the iPad from the computer.
Press and hold both the home and the sleep/wake buttons (ignore the red slider) until you see the silver Apple logo.
When you see the logo, let both buttons go.
If this worked, you should see an icon instructing you to connect to iTunes. My guess is that the reset did not work.
DFU Restore
This will very likley result in loss of data.
Plug the iPad into the computer.
Ensure that it is running the latest version of iTunes and that it has access to the internet.
Press and hold both the home and sleep/wake buttons for exactly eight seconds.
Release only the sleep/wake button but continue to hold the home button for another five seconds.
Let go of the home button, then look at the computer screen for an instructional popup.
The popup should say "iTunes has detected a device in recovery mode. . .(etc)" Click accept to all boxes and let iTunes download and install all of the latest device Firmware and Software.
If no popup appears, repeat the above DFU instructions. If you 've never done a DFU, it may take about three attempts to get the timing right. -
hello people......
ohkay.... so my iphone decided to turn off on me while i tryd opening the app. clash of clans, and when i turned it back on, it displayed the apple logo for 10 - 15 seconds on the screen before fading out and shutting down. i have tryd all recomnded steps and none have worked. my itunes detects my phone in recovery mode, but after retrieving all necesary data for the restore process. when itunes prompts waiting for iphone, the apple logo is dsplayed on the screen for 10 - 15 seconds and then fades out and shuts down... has anybody found a fix for this problem?It's quite probable that your iPhone has a hardware problem. Contact Apple Support or make an appointment at an Apple Store and have your iPhone evaluated.

Can't pair with my computer via bluetooth for tethering

Set the iTunes to prevent automatic syncing before you plug it in the first time. You should be able to extract any photos in the camera roll as you would from any other camera. You can transfer purchases to get anything you actually purchased from the iTunes store off the phone and into iTunes. Made sure you have at least 1 contact in whatever application you intend to sync contacts to. This will give you the option to merge them. If you don't, the phone will be overwritten with the blank address book from the computer.
As for extracting anything else, media sync is meant to be 1 way only. Computer>iPhone.
As for media that wasn't purchased on the phone, you can try a 3rd party program that 'may' be able to extract it, but this isn't sanctioned or supported by Apple in any way. Technically, you're out of luck if you don't have a backup from the computer that was repossesed. -

Unfortunately, iTunes was told to restore all data from an old backup onto the new phone, and that cannot be undone.
However, prior to this, iTunes 10 would have also asked to make a backup of the phone before doing the restore. If the user elects to say "yes" to perform the backup, then iTunes would have backed up the phone before erasing it.
Hopefully, that backup will still be available in iTunes, and if so, it would be backed up under the new phone's name prior to it being erased and restored (if the name of the new phone is different to the name of the old phone).
To check if iTunes has a backup of the phone prior to the restore, look in the Devices category in iTunes Preferences. All backups made are timestamped and are identified with the iPhone's name at the time of the backup. Look for:
• a backup of the phone using the new phone's name prior to the erase and restore, or
• a backup with the same date and time as that when the phone was erased and restored (not the date and time AFTER when the phone was erased and restored!). This may be the case if the new and old phones have the same name.
If a backup is available, you can erase and restore again using that backup. The phone will be restored with what would hopefully be the original image of the new phone.
If no backup was made prior to erasing and restoring the phone initially, then there is no way to
undo it, meaning your phone's original data has been lost.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

My itunes account doesn't list "devices" above the playlist, as the syncing instructions give. How can I sync the itunes I have purchased & downloaded to my computer, to my ipod shuffle? If the shuffle is now recognized, there may have been a USB device conflict previously, or maybe all of the devices connected at the same time overloads the USB bus (for power). An iPod charges its battery while connected, so it is a high-power USB device.
