I plug my iPod into my computer. The screen lights up, but doesn't pull a charge from the computer, nor does it register in iTunes. Have used multiple cords, tried on two different computers. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I have no idea what is going on with my iPod. Am I going to have to go to an Apple store?

See if placing the iPod in DFU mode will allow a restore.

If not then it is time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Has anyone updated to the current verson of iTunes, only to find when they now go into iTunes and play any track that they all jump and sound like a scratched record, whereas they were perfectly fine before you updated to the current version?? I just had the version that came with the ipod nano previously which was fine!! But it kept telling me to update, and I wish I hadn't bothered now. Any help much appreciated. Thanks

I had the same problem with mine when I connect the ipod when it's full charged and turn on. The problem never happen when the ipod is charging or i'ts full charged and it's turn off. So just turn off your ipod down and connect to your mac again.

  • I've been deleting the info in the "Sort..." fields, but when I plug my iPod into my computer iTunes repopulates the fields I deleted.  How do I stop it from doing that?

I've been deleting information I don't want in the "Sort..." fields (like getting rid of "Deluxe Edition" markers, etc.), but when I plug my iPod into my computer iTunes repopulates the fields I deleted.  This only happens for a few artists, and it's the same artists every time this happens.  How do I stop it from doing that?  It makes it measurably harder for me to control the organization of my library.

I plugged my ipod into my computer to load up new tunes and it froaze on the time I dad connected it with the message 'do not disconnect' on the screen. Despite disconnecting and reconnecting it and ensuring it was charged up it will not operate. The 'lock' symbol is showing at the top of the screen even when I have moved the lock switch. I have been using my ipod for several years with no similar fault. What is the problem/solution?

I would first try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Next would be to restore the iPod from backup

I plug my ipod into my computer itunes pops up with error message "Ipod detected but can't be identified properly" suggests I unplug and try again or uninstall itunes and reinstall nothing works. What should i do?

    summarizing:
iPod nano (what version iOS BEFORE update?)
    downloaded music
    updated iPod to iOS 8.1.2
    Windows 7 PC
    plug-in iPod to PC
error message from iTunes on the PC "Ipod detected but can't be identified properly" ⬅[quoted from your original post] (+ suggested troubleshooting steps)
    un-plug > re-plug iPod (how many times?)
    iTunes un-installed from PC (?)
    iTunes RE-installed to PC (?)
    error message repeats(?)
searched "Ipod detected but can't be identified properly" site:support.apple.com with ZERO results - pretty strange that the support site wouldn;t know an iTunes generated error message (?)  EDIT - had an "aha! moment when using a fresh Google search page and 'suggested' CANNOT
then "Ipod detected but can't be identified properly" site:discussions.apple.com had ONE result = Can't connect to iTunes with ipod touch (-50 error) - NO REPLIES
CANNOT instead of can't [ tsk tsk ]

  • If i plugged my ipod into my computer but unplugged it to fast and only 25 songs synced and i lost 100 of my songs, can i get those back somehow?

If I plugged my ipod into my computer and unplugged it to fast and only 25 songs synced onto the computer, then is there any way to get my lost 100 songs back?

Were these songs purchased from iTunes? If so,you can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
    Hope this helps!

  • Plugging my iPod into my computer...

Whenever I plug my iPod into my computer, it freezes up and I have to push the center and menu buttons to reset it before it will unfreeze and my computer will recognize it. The screen lights up when I first plug it in, but everything freezes and it doesn't show that it is connected. Any ideas on why this is happening? This only happens when I don't have iTunes open already.

are you getting any sort of blue screen? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
if the blue screen mentions a specific file, let us know what that is called too. (exact spelling, please.)
here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:
    Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
if you're not seeing a blue screen (or just a flash of one), we can use this technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

  • Plugged my ipod into my computer and it stopped working...

So, I plugged my ipod into my computer using the usb port to put a song on it, and I noticed that it didn't show up in my itunes and it didn't show under My Computer either. I looked at my ipod and the screen is just plain black, without the apple logo on it or anything. It won't do anything, and I can't even turn it off now. Help?

    Hello NinjaRawrr,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
What happens if you try resetting the iPod with it still connected to your computer? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake buttons together until the Apple logo appears. If no luck the first time, don't be afraid to try more than once.
Otherwise, it might be helpful to let it sit and charge for awhile and then come back later to see if you reset it again.
