Maybe you need to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service. This will tell you how to do that.

Each device has been registered onto this account and this computer, and all have worked finely in the past. I am so confused as to why now seemingly without reason, none of our apple devices (one iPod, two iPhones) are allowed to have music and other material downloaded onto them. Also, as a side note, they still are charged by plugging them into the computer, however they do not even show up on the left-hand sidebar in iTunes.
It should also be noted that for my iPhone it does not allow for the new update software to be uploaded; it just says that an error has occurred, nothing more.

I am also getting the same message on my iPad, when connecting to a Win7 PC.
I have tried the solutions given at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567 but no solution.
I am desperate to get a backup of my iPad. The PC recognises the device but iTunes fails to do so and says -

Can someone please help me with this. All of a sudden my computer keeps popping up with a message saying "this ipad cannot be used because the apple mobile device service is not started" I am trying to sync some programmes that my son has deleted off his ipad. Can anyone help me with this? When I plug in my iPad I get the error message from my "This iPad cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service has not started. I saw the suggestion to turn off my iPad, wait a few minutes and turn it back on but that didn't work.
