I plugged my ipod in while my computer was booting up - uh-oh

First it didn't detect the ipod at all - then i shut down and disconnected the ipod, which was frozen on "do not disconnect"
so i turned it back on and itunes says it's corrupted, but when I push restore, nothing happens. Or it is taking a long long time.
what can i do? This is a brand new computer and a brand new ipod!

ok....I reset it and it seems to be working wooohoooo

I plugged my iPod nana into my computer to charge it. I have a message on the iPod screen, "Connected Eject before disconnecting". What does this mean?

In iTunes, next to the iPod, there will be an eject icon. This safely disconnects the iPod from your computer.

  • I plug my Ipod touch into my computer nothing happens.

2 days ago while listening to my ipod touch at work, the music just stopped playing(my ipod was locked) when I unlocked my ipod the song i was listening to wouldn't play, however other songs would for about a minute,a nd then they would do the same thing. I then decided to shut down my ipod touch, however instead of restarting it gave me a picture of itunes and the USB adapter. so i put it on my wall charger thinking it needed to be charge, I left it there for half an hour. when I came back the picture of Itunes and my USB adapter where still on the screen, I then decided to reset the ipod itself(held down the lock and home button for 15sec's) after that it worked fine. However when i got home and tried to connect my ipod up to my computer nothing happened. I've been trying for the last 2 days and nothing is working, the 5 R's didn't work(yes I made sure I removed everything apple related(Itunes, Quicktime, Apple Application Support, and Apple Moblie Device Support)). I reinstalled itunes 9.2.1 and still nothing happens(my computer does beep and my ipod goes to the charging screen however no harddrive appears in my computer, and nothing shows up in itunes.) Can anyone help?

Forgot to say that my Ipod Touch is at 100% charge

  • When I plug my iPod in to my computer iTunes crashes!

HELP!!! I've owned this iPod Mini for three months and now when I plug my iPod Mini in to my Mac labtop computer iTunes crashes and there isn't any more music on my iPod!!! What can I do????????

in time, your ipod will die permenantly. i know, its not a good thing to hear but yes, its surprising that you got it to work at all after it being through the washer. it was very smart to let the water dry out. i know people who panic and turn it on immidiatly to see if it still works. they wonder why it turns on, then off and never back on. but, sadly the water got into your hard drive. there is nothing you can do about it. dont try to open your hard drive though because they are made and assembled in dust free rooms. and i dont care how often you vaccuum, there is still dust in the air. where these things are assembled, the air is actually sucked out of the room so it is literally dust free. opening your hard drive will just make it worse, and may actually never work again if you do so. i have been repairing ipods for a year now, so if i were you, take my word for it.

  • I plugged my iPod into a friends computer and my libary has been deleted!

Is there any way of recovering what i have lost my inadvertantly syncing with his ipod?
    cheers
    michael

okay never ever plug your ipod into your friends itunes list. The computer then thinks that you want to sync your friends songs on your ipod, and delete all the existing songs on your ipod and replace them with your friends songs. when you plug in your ipod to a different itunes library, a message will pop up and say something like: the songs on your ipod are linked to a different itunes library, do you want to sync the files on this library and erase all your existing files? ---and you should say NO OR CANCEL, or else all your songs will be deleted and now you might have to download all your songs back. It has happened to me before when i got a new computer and i had to install itunes again and redownload my songs.

  • I plugged my iPod into my friends computer and her iTunes  synced to my iPod

I plugged my iPod. Into my friends iTunes and now I can't find my camera roll

    - Because it sounds like you restored your iPod either to factory settings/new iPod or from a backup that was on that computer.
    - You have to restore your iPod from a backup of your iPod. For how see:
    iOS: How to back up
    - If the photos are not in a backup then
    - If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer

  • HT1329 My hard drive died.  Can I plug my ipod into the new computer and transfer my files or will they be wiped out?

My computer hard drive fried on Friday.  They are not able to retrieve the data.   Have i lost everything that was not a download?
Can i plug in my iPod into the new computer (once I install iTunes and authorize the computer) and move my files to the new system from the iPod, or will my iPod be wiped out?
I believe I need to set up manual update, rather than automatic to prevent this, but other than that, I am a bit lost.
    Thank you.

  • When I plug my ipod touch into my computer, itunes says it cannot read it and it needs to be reset to factory settings

I bought my Ipod Touch today and I set it up with everything, even added a few game apps and my music. I plugged it in again and as it was reading "Evan's Ipod" , it cancelled and told me it could not be read and to reset it to its factory settings. I did and that didn't fix the problem. It's still telling me the same thing. Could anyone help?

Try placing the iPod in DFU made and then restore. If you get the same error time for an Appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
