I pod classic has song start delay

Hello, I have recently purchased a second hand ipod classic 160gb 5th gen.
Currently I have an issue when changing songs, if I change through songs alot, it wont play a song untill you leave it on the song for about 60 seconds to 3 minutes,
also sometimes it randomly freezes and I end up having to hold the menu and center button untill to free it.
It is updated to the latest firmware, and my songs consist of .wav, .mp3 and .m4v
my libary is contains 1141 songs, 17.66gb

I sorted it myself, held the menu and center circle simultaniously for about 8 seconds and it switched on. Happy days

My I pod Classic wont sync with my mac book pro.. It was fine till about a fortnight ago .. I have tried two different leads in both USB ports.. and when I press the Sync control it wont sync.. AnyThoughts?? I think I disconnected without ejecting at one point .. I don't know if this was a problem.

Does the iPod appear in iTunes when you have it connected via a USB port?

My ipod classic has started making a mewing sound and all it does is scroll through the songs. It will not play except when connected to my computer. I tried resyncing and that did not work. How do I fix this problem?

My ipod classic has started making a mewling sound and all it does is scroll through the songs. It does not play on my Bose sound dock or through earbuds. It will play when connected to the computer...but that makes it hard to take it on a walk with me I thought it might be a synching problem so tried that--still doesn't work. How do I fix this problem with out restoring it to the factory setting? I do not want to lose all my music content as some of it I cannot replace easily. Please help with suggestions and advice. Have you recharge your iPod for at least 2 hours, preferably till the Full charge Battery symbol comes ON.?

To give you something, I need something too, like
How old is the Ipod? (if it is still under warranty, then send it to Apple service shop)
Are you running Windows iTunes or Mac iTunes?
What do you see on the iPod screen?
My guess is, your iPod classic is more than 2 years old and out of warranty, and the hardisk has gone kaput! and need to be replaced.

My iPOD 30 GB classic has no sound. Screen shows music is playing but cannot hear it. This happenend last fall, and then in december it started playing again. Recently it has stopped playing again. What causes this?

My IPOD 30 GB classic has no sound. THis problem started last summer intermittently. THen in December it started playing again and did so for about 3 months without a problem. Again, recently the sound stopped coming from the ipod. I usually use a BOSE docking station that seems to be working fine. THe screen indicates that the songs are playing, but there is no sound, either thru headphones or on the docking station. I have reset, rebooted and restored and still no sound. What causes this to happen and is there a fix?

Which version of iTunes are you using?
What is the iPod software number as shown in the iTunes Summary windows?
If both the soundock and the earphone has no sound after the HardReset, then I think you Audio chip has been fried.
But please try this Hard Reset again
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple Logo comes ON
Then release the buttons
Select your preferred language.
Test the sound again.

For the missing Artists on your iPod, make sure their tracks in iTunes are not marked as "Part of a compilation" in iTunes. You can do this by highlighting the track, right->clicking on them and choosing "Get Info" from the shortcut menu. When the window pops up, head over to the Info tab and make sure there is NO tick mark next to this option in the lower right hand corner. Lastly, sync the updated changes to your iPod.

My MacBook Pro 10.6.8 prompted me of a new itunes update this morning, so i downloaded it. Since then itunes has been starting up randomly on its own, and starts playing the first song on the list. I quit itunes, and it keeps reopening.

I pause the song, and it resumes it on its own again. I'm not joking. So, I end up quiting out of itunes; but, it starts right back up again on its own. After quiting out of the app a few times, it eventually stops reopening; however, about an hour later (or less) it opens again. HOW DO I MAKE IT STOP? I'm just about to delete itunes, because I've had enough of this crap. I hope someone can help. I've restarted the laptop, and it seemed like that fixed it, then itunes started up doing the same thing again an hour later. ituneshelper is unchecked; bluetooth is off; i only have speakers and a mouse plugged in (also charger).

Read this Apple Discussion Thread and possible solutions. The audio jack has been the main culprit, also certain sync and automation settings including connected remotes.

Does this only happen with the tracks you have downloaded from the iTunes Store? Perhaps you should work the suggestions in this Apple support document first.

It sounds like your iPod classic is only playing sound in mono when using multiple headphones.
Since you've likely isolated this behavior to the iPod by trying multiple headphones, see this advice from the "The headphones don't work" section of the iPod troubleshooting basics and service FAQ:
If the issue appears to be with the iPod, try resetting it. If that doesn't work, then restore iPod with the latest iPod software using iTunes 7 or later.

No, they are not. But getting round this is not that simple.
Until recently, the European Volume Limit that you're referring to affected iPods sold within the EU (European Union countries), so one purchased in the US would not be affected by this. Nor, in theory, would an iPod purchased in Norway or Russia, since neither of them are in the EU.
However, iPod Classics now sold within the UK (where I live) now appear to have an option to disable the EU Volume Limit. I would assume therefore, that this option is available on an iPod Classic bought anywhere within the EU. The firmware on an iPod Classic that can turn off the EU volume Limit is 2.0.5.
iPod Classics running earlier versions of the firmware (including 2.0.4) cannot be upgraded. I have personally seen one with 2.0.5 Mac on it in an Apple Store and the EU limit could be turned off. Check the picture from Badgorr in this thread New Option to turn off EU Volume Cap? (It's towards the bottom of the page.) However, non-Apple stores may still have older stock, so be aware of this when you go shopping.
Experience tells me that buying an iPod from outside the European Union area is not that simple and you are unlikely to manage it. Apple will not ship goods to another country. So either you travel to the US to buy one from a shop (that's a bit extravagant) or you persuade someone else to buy one and send it to you. However, not only will you have the cost of shipping, but in either case, your country's tax department will almost certainly add tax to it when it comes into the country. The service delivering it will apply the tax and charge you for doing so as well or you get charged by the customs department at the airport.

If a restore of the Nano in iTunes to factory settings does not resolve the issue, it's likely hardware related, meaning you should take or send your iPod in for service.

My i pod classic will only download a few song. Any ideas on what to do?

- If you go to the playing screen, is Repeat on? It is the racetrack icon on the left side of the screen right below the scrubber bar. Tap the icon until it is white to turn repeat off.
- Next try unsyncing/resyncing the music.
- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod
