Only polygon labels can be automatically rendered by mapviewer. The demo #49 on the tutorial page shows how to display labels for points/markers.

  • Getting a second iPod

I am a little lost here, maybe someone can help me, I have an I Pod color and my little sister is getting an I Pod shuffle for a birthday gift. the problem? we HATE each others music, so is there a way to have two separate iTunes or to switch users? she doesn't want my stuff on hers and I really don't want her stuff on mine. Can anyone help?? thanks so much.

My wife and I ran into a similar problem - - we don't hate each others' music, but there definitely isn't 100% overlap.
Assuming that you will be synching your iPods to the same computer. . . give each iPod a distinct name. Under 'Preferences' (when you sync your respective iPods) you'll have an opportunity to specify which playlist(s) to synch to each iPod. I would suggest synching only selected playlists - - you can then each build your own, mutually exclusive playlists (i.e., Ana's Library) in iTunes and drop to your respective iPods only the music you each want to hear. . .

A colorful starter image from our Challenge host, Grant. Let's see what everyone did with it this week.
Alex: An interesting trio. I like the way you substituted the vase/shade from last week (thanks for the credit) and #3 is the "cat's meow". Isn't that the castle from the Gnome challenge from several weeks ago?
Anne: A nice framing job in #1. How was that done? Love the flying bits and pieces in #2. I think the flying shingle in the middle is a nice detail.
Ben: Great canvas look to your entry. Is that the texturizer filter?
Bill: Is that a storm shelter door? I like the way you have enlarged the area and reshingled the rest of the house.
Bob: By and by, Lord in your #1. I was reminded of crop circles when I first saw it. Is that you in #2-I see a camera in hand. I love the faded image and the golden tint of the shingles.
Cathy: Great effect with the quilt keeping the texture and repeating the patterns in #1. I like the re-arrangement of the elements in your second window in #2.
Celia: Like the stained glass look of #1, but I really like the flowing patterns of #2. How was that done?
Charles:The red really catches the eye; I like the framing of the canyon scene with the window frame.
Jack: A nice three-dimensional house, very well done. Nice way to work the challenge colors into the details of the model.
John: Effective way to replace panes of the original with the pictures in #1. How did you create the circular part of your #2. Very good job on getting the sides square and the "floor" flat. I always have trouble with my perspective drawings.
Malcolm: Nice way to blend the Mondrian style with the challenge elements.
Marilyn: The lamp chimney and flame adds an old-fashioned, country look to your entry. I'm sure the flowers are as fragrant as they are beautiful.
Nancy: I like the frame and the way you've added the texture to the image-how was this done?
Pat: Nice use of the umbrellas to add a different dimension to the challenge entry. Love the floor idea in #2 and the replacement scene of the window.
Red Sky: Great effect in your #1 depot shot-please tell us how this was done. I laughed out loud with your rest stop in #2 and #3.
Rita: Wow, what a burst of color behind your globe-would you mind sharing your technique? Any signifigance to the wrench or is that a spanner outside the US?
Steve: What a creative idea to turn the wood pieces into book titles. Must have taken a lot of time to type and align the various titles. I think "Bermuda Triangle" is my favorite.
Susan: I like the "building block" in your #1, but the topiary couple in #2 "leaves" me speechless. What a great interpretation.
Tab: Your usual great work. I love the framing technique with the shingles.
Tracy: An exhibit worthy of any museum. Is that you behind the camera?
Tricia: What a creative idea to turn the challenge into a flag. Love the wiggly, wavy addition. Likely a voter's favorite if we took a "pole".
Wendy: Like mother, like daughter. A nice family portrait of the Frames' family in #1. Great box in your #2; I remember saying you had a new tutorial on box making. I am guessing this is from that tutorial.

  • Can the background color of a pod be changed?

    And, if so, how?

No, the background color of a pod cannot be changed. Only the background of the room can be modified.

  • I-pod touch has multi-colored lines across it, can it be fixed?

I was playing a game on my Touch when it froze and then it changed to a screen with multi-colored horizontal lines across it. I have tried to reset it, but it will not respond. I cannot even get it to turn off. I have a feeling that it is a hardware problem, any suggestions?

    - Try:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • What to do when youre i pod keeps crashing when you try to turn it on and when it starts to turn on it shows the apple sign and then it gets darker and then the screen changes color and slowly fades to a white screen?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

  • I have two questions and appreciate anyones help, First I can not seem to copy music from a legitimately purchased CD into my iTunes library or i pod, can anyone help me with this? it used to work. i have i pod touch and second-.

Thank you for any help I appreciate it. Apple products came highly recomended to me, and I have been largely happy with my i phone, i pod, i pad mini and macbook. I admit I tunes always confused me, it is so hard to copy things back and forth from computer to device or vice versa. Most importantly my partner has given me a set of CD with audio books, legitimate CD's not burned copies, and I wish to play them on my i pod touch. I have donethis before with CD''s, however now I look i see all the songs and audio books from CD's have been removed from my device after synch with my itunes on my macbook??? and I can no longer cooy the new CDs on to there? i try put them in the library, and they show up but they are not in black printing like the other songs, they are a faded grey color. They play on the mac book in itunes, so i know they are THERE, they just wont go on my device??? What am I doing wrong and why did all my other ones turn to grey gaded text and go off my i pod.
Furthermore, i thank anyone who takes time to help me, it isnt your job, it is apple's job, but they want me to pay forty bucks for the priviledge of contacting them for help because my warranty expired !! They obviously did something with a new update of their i tunes, there should be NO DIFFICULTY copying audio books i legally own the CD for onto my i pod, why is it so impossible? I have asked my father, my brother, my flat mate, no one can work it out, so its not just that im an idiot.
People warned me that apple does things like this, makes stupid programs like i tunes, that make nothing but trouble so you have to pay to ask for help, and make it so you have to buy everything from their library not on CD. I woudl buy from them if they had the audio books and songs I wished to purchase but they don't always have what i want. And if they did why shoudl i pay AGAIN when i paid for the CD already , i paid for the I pod, i legally own them both so why can i not put my own music on there??? It makes me miss my simple MP3 player where i just plugged it to my computer and copy/paste. It really makes me wonder why when i POD is so much more expensive why its so much more trouble and you have to pay to ask for help??? I really have enjoyed my macbook (After being windows used all my life), i love my i pad and i phone, and until now i adored my i pod, but if it's not going to let me listen to my own music and audio files i may as well throw it in the trash and go get a mp3 player, and warn everyone I know.     If there IS a way to copy my own music to the device then WHY IS IT SO HARD?? Just to make people pay to ask for help or what?
I am a loyal apple customer, All my devices are apple and until now i have been happy and willing to pay more for a good product. But i tunes is ridiculous! It's already synched things i didnt want synched and deleted things i didn twant deleted, and thats fine i told myself maybe im too dumb and dont get it. buT i've been trying all week and asked other peopel and still cant get this simple task done, and after purchasing their devices and recommending them to my friends, its a slap in the face to say they wont even let me ask a support question without paying forty bucks!  Thanks for nothing apple.
A very unhappy customer-- not just that i cant pplay my music and audio books, but that i cant even contact anyone for help without paying after i purcahsed four different products off them in the two years!

The sort fields should generally be empty unless you've putting in custom values to sort solo artists by their surnames. You can apply common changes to thousands of tracks at once, just don't apply the wrong change because there is no undo.
It is a good idea to backup before undertaking large scale changes. See this backup tip for a suggested approach.

  • Ipod color will not show up as a ipod color

I just upgraded from a 3g 15 to a 4g 60gb color. i can connect to OSX most of the time, and i can get my music on there (with out pics). problem is that my itunes on my powerbook does not show anything in the options about photos. i opened itunes in virtual PC(pc is down right now) and it showed it but since i dont use it a lot i dont know how to transfer files into VPC so i cant just update there. dont know if its related but my updater does not show an ipod in OSX but in xp it shows up. i have all the updates for itunes and ipod. what am i missing. is there something i need to do to tell my computer that i have a color ipod?
also i have seen people saying that a firewire cable helps, but all the firewire does for me is S L O W down my screen, i mean really slow it takes like 30-50 sec for anything to move.
    thanks for any help.
forgot to mention that i first set it up on my powerbook, but then i formated it in VPC, its now formated in windows (fat32) i dont know if it makes a difference.

I am completely up to date, in fact i even tried downgrading to 4.8 since i saw somewhere that some people were having luck connecting problematic ipods doing this (different problem, different ipod).
I know that it does not work even with in 4.9 for me, but what is the earliest version that has that option?
ps i have the art work on the pod now but it is a VERY roundabout way, i have to update everything on OSX then go into virtual PC and update the art work, this takes forever since the OSX version deletes EVERYTHING, then XP adds it all back.
    any other ideas?

  • I-pod nano 1st gen not recognized by computer

We took this in to the apple store and had the i-pod restired, but neither of our computers (Windows XP) will recognize the i-pod nano now. It has been giving us problems for the last month, and when it did last work, it would only allow 6 songs to be stored.
    Any ideas?

If they restored the iPod in the store, they used a Mac.
You'll need to restore it on Windows.
Is the iPod recognized in "my computer" but not in iTunes?
See any or all of these.

iTunes 7 doesn't recognize the iPod.
    Your Windows PC doesn't recognize iPod</font color</a>.
iPod appears in Windows Explorer but does not appear in iTunes.

  • How to manage colors in RH8

    Morning all,
    RH 802 generating WebHelp.
Is there one central location for managing colors in RH8?
I've created some CBT colors and named them. Now I want to change the color, but keep the name, as the color I've chosen doesn't show up very well in the Project Manager pod.
I realize I can create a new custom color, but would have to use a new name, which I'd like to avoid. It seems once a color is created and named, there's no facility for altering it.
So, is there one central UI for managing colors in RH8? Or are they stored in a file somewhere I can edit directly? How about the ability to RENAME or DELETE a custom color?
    Thanks for your brainpower...

  • Image Consistency for POD

It's the perennial problem with print-on-demand – inconsistent quality, particularly in the images. In the latest proof received, there are 24 B&W images, all quite similar in values, all 7x7cm. Despite all images seeming to have a very similar range of values, the proof came back with 4 pics looking absolutely brilliant (when one has an idea of what to expect from POD process) and the rest, not mediocre, but dramatically inferior. Blacks and crispness of the the four good images are excellent, while the rest are washed out with poor contrast.
When viewing the images on screen or printed out, the inconsistency in values isn't apparent (not that this is a method to judge what to expect from POD); the results are at least stable. I might hope for some of that consistency in the printed book, revealing poor or better quality across the board, when similar images are present. Perhaps the printer makes selective adjustments to some – which is to be checked, but until then, what are the fundamentals of otptimizing images for POD?
    Thank you,
    Luca

  • Do Not Know What is Going On With My 'Pod

I have a 60GIG 'Pod with color screen.
I used it at my job two days ago, playing it through a pair of Altec Lansing speakers, which I've done many times before.
Between late Wednesday night and Friday afternoon, I had not used the machine (it was plugged into a wall socket in my apartment).
Today when I tried using it, the battery logo was not on the readout screen, and nothing was functioning.
I removed the 'Pod from the speaker system and placed it onto its dock at my computer. After a few moments, the battery logo returned, and shortly after that, all of the information, songs, etc. that normally show up on screen did so.
After about 30 minutes of listening to music, I ejected the 'Pod properly from its dock. The battery logo stayed on screen for perhaps 20-30 seconds, then disappeared once again. And once again, I cannot use any of the functions on the scroll wheel.
Would anyone know or guess what is going on?
    Thanks for your help.

Please post the exact message including any error number, also please restart your computer.

  • Pre-Loaded 5th Generation i-Pod

    Hey Everyone -
First off I want to say that I just received my first ever i-Pod, which is a fifth generation unit that is black in color. It was purchased for me by a friend who pre-loaded it with a ton of music for me. I went to start loading music videos to my unit when I started bumping into a problem.
I share a computer with my wife, who has an older, non-color display i-Pod (our computer is an IBM NetVista running Windows 2000). She already has i-Tunes on our computer and in i-Tunes, she has an extensive library with her music files. When I go to plug in my new i-Pod, i-Tunes detects the unit and asks if I'd like to sync my unit with my wife's library that is already on our computer. I always select "no" as I do not want to lose the existing music files that were pre-loaded onto my i-Pod by my friend and have it replaced with my wife's. Once I select "no", it seems as though there is nothing else that can be done in i-Tunes that will allow it to detect my unit, create a library for me based on the music files that I already have on my unit and allow me to purchase my own music files to be added to my i-Pod. Is there any way around this? Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated and Thanks in advace for your advice.

What you are trying to do is considered music piracy, and it's illegal.
You cannot keep the content that your friend put on it.
The Apple iPod was designed specifically to hinder this type of illegal file sharing.
If you want the tracks that your friend has, I suggest you purchase them legally for yourself.
    Please don't steal music!
