I-pod is not charging.

I have only been able to charge my i-pod one time since I got it.  And then it only had a short charge.   I have trying to charge it with a wall outlet not my computer.  It will never turn on unless it is plugged in.  What is wrong with this thing?

How old is this iPod? If you only recently purchased it, return it for a refund or replacement. Or if you have an Apple Store nearby, schedule an appointment with the Genius Bar and show them what you are experiencing.  If the Nano is still under its 1 year warranty against manufacturing defects or you purchased Apple Care for the device and it is still valid, they should swap it out for you at no cost.

Hi - My i-pod seems to have died and will not charge - any clues - thanks

Have you worked through all the troubleshooting here?

    iPod won't turn on
Keep in mind that a completely discharged battery can take up to 30 minutes of charging before it shows any signs of life and even after that a hard reset is still sometimes necessary to get the iPod to boot up.

  • I pod will not charge. Battery Failure??

Ok, I have seen this posted before and I have read through all of the suggestions, but none of them have worked so far. Any help would be great.
The computer recognizes the Ipod, when plugged into the usb its glows solid yellow like it is charging. A few hours ago the light turned green... fully charged right? But when I unplugged it, the battery light did not come on. And the pod did nothing. Ok.. maybe it wasn't fully charged. I plugged it back in and now it is still charging again like it had not been charging at all. I have charged USB ports to see if this would help, but could this just be a broken battery situation. At one point it was working, then it just seemed to have died. I have had problems from the start with this thing. Suggestions?

Maybe it's the cable itself that is faulty. Have you tried it with a new USB cable?

  • I-pod touch not charging

Had this i-pod touch for one year. Hasn't been misused and now not charging. Apple shows on screen when charging, but freezes-up and doesn't charge.

I am having this same problem as well. I have the 8gb 2nd generation and for some reason it will only charge on my work pc, which is no longer allowed. I have tried my desktop and 2 laptops at home and still does not charge. I even have the powermat wireless charger and it doesn't work with that either, nor does plugging it into a wall outlet. It has been giving me trouble like this for the last 2 months. It's warranty expired 3 months ago...go figure. It is only a little over a year old and has not been misused either. When I took it to work the last time I even did a factory reset on it and that did not solve the problem either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I pod will not charge

the i pod works when plugged into the car but when i disconect it the screen gets blurry then shuts off and when i plug it into the computer it says please wait very low battery but nothing happens can this be fixed

    Hi rjmarks87,
Have you tried resetting your iPod? To reset an iPod:
First, toggle your iPod's "Hold" switch back and forth a couple of times. (be sure to leave it on the white side of the switch, which is the Off position).
Then, press and hold the Menu and Select (center) buttons together for 5-10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo appear on your iPod's screen.
You might need to attempt this step several times. For more effect, try connecting your iPod to a power source, like your computer's USB port, or a wall charger, while you reset the iPod.
If that doesn't seem to be helping, then try letting your iPod's battery fully drain down (after the "Low Battery" screen, when the screen finally goes blank afterward).
Then, when it's basically dead on battery, let it recharge through a power source (something like a wall charger would be preferrable, if possible) for at least 4 hours.
Any success after trying either of those things?

  • Shuffle will not charge

My I pod will not charge. I have tried using the computer and the wall plug in. the only light I get is a red one when I turn it on. When I put it onto the charger I get no lights.

If it's less than a year old take it to an Apple Store (only a MAX ride away...) for analysis and possible replacement.
Is the "wall plug in" an Apple USB Power Adapter or some other brand?
Are your PC USB ports "high-power"? Shuffle requires 5v/500mA...

  • Why my i pod is not working with out charger

hey, my i pod is not working with out the charger plugged into it?!

What do you mean? Please be more precised so I may help you father. If it is plugged in, but won't open. You must wait at least 5 minutes before using it again. Ipod need a certain amount of power for it to start. Or even when its plugged in but wont charge, make sure it is connected very well to the computer or the power outlet to the Ipod. Lastly, if you are charging at another place, for example in your friend's house. The voltage power may be different from where you mostly charge it from. But if it isn't plugged. Maybe it need to be charged?
    Hope this helps.

  • Curve 8310 will not charge in pod

    Hi All
My 8310 won't charge and I'm looking for any suggestions before I buy a new phone. Here's the sequence of events:
Phone not charging via car charger or wall charger - the lightning bolt symbol goes on but the battery doesn't charge.
I figure the battery is dead (I've had it for a few years) so I replaced the battery.
Plugged it into the wall charger overnight - got the bolt and the yellow flashing light - it didn't connect to a network but I could browse around my data as long as it was plugged in.
In the morning it was not charged.
Purchased a charging pod - the light on the pod goes on when I plug it into the wall.
I put the phone in the pod and get the red light for a few seconds - then.... absolutely nothing.
Have pulled out the battery when the phone is in and out of the charger..... still nothing.
    Whaddayathink? Is this thing toast?
    Thanks in advance..............E

    Hey imnzothbaker,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Since you tried a different battery and different charging options, and is still not charging.  If the BlackBerry is still under warranty, I would highly suggest you contact your wireless provider to look at exchange options if available.

  • TS1382 My I-Pod will not accept a charge.  The battery icon I normally see while charging is not visible on the screen.  The cord works fine to charge my I-Pad.

My I-Pod will not accept a charge.  The battery icon I normally see while charging is not visible.  The cord works when charging my I-Pad.  Any ideas?

Please find "System Information" in this folder path---Applications > Utilities---and launch it. When it opens, find "Power" in the left-hand contents pane and click it to get something like this in teh main pane:
Copy everything in the "Battery Information" and copy/paste it here. The number values in that report may help us diagnose what is happening.
Also, did you buy this battery directly from Apple or from another source. There are an increasing number of reports showing up that suggests some counterfeit batteries being sold.

  • My I Pod touch will not charge on any computer, with any cable or in any wall outlet.  No sleep mode....nothing.  I can not get it to power on at all now

I have tried multiple cables, multiple computers and it appears to be dead.  When I went to the Apple Store they tried to sell me a new one.....not what I wanted.  I asked about a new battery but was told no.  How do I retrieve the data on my I Pod???  Cannot even look into resetting it because it will not power on at all.

    Not Charge
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • New i-pod nano does not charge on JBL on stage II. WHY. previous nano did charge it's battery .

my new I-pod nano does not charge it's battery on JBL stage II, while my old nano did. Is there anyreason for this uncomfort?

The design of the Dock connector has changed slightly. The new iPods require a resistor between two of the pins, this allows the iPod to detect what type of accessory is detected. You can use e.g. this converter to connect the iPod to your JBL dock: http://www.cablejive.com/products/dockStubz.html
