I pod says its full but i can't access anything

Hi guys
Is there anyone out there who can help. I recently had some trouble with my imac and needed a new harddrive. i backed up my files onto my fifth gen ipod and reintalled everything fine. However now my ipod thinks it isstill full I removed all my data after my computer was fixed. Nothing shows in its finder window and nothing comes up in its itunes folder but it clearly says its full on the bottom bar of itunes and when i 'get info' in the finder window.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.
Thanks
darch

I suggest you send it in. Do it before something else happens. Call 1-800-275-2273 and set it up. I'd hate for you to be stuck w/ it if anything else happens to it & they won't honor the warranty.

  • Hard drive says its full but I can only find 44G used!

I knew the day would come when I filled my 80G hard drive. But when I look at the HD space occupied by each of the files in Finder I can only account for 44G used! - where is the missing 36?
Also how easy is it to use an external hard drive for music/photos etc?
    Many thanks.

You can relocate iTunes and iPhoto libraries to an
externally enclosed hard disk drive; there are some
rules and considerations, such as they go, so the
computer won't be making duplicates to its internal
hard disk drive, since you'd want to keep it slim.
A search online should yield a few fairly well founded
replies to relocating or archiving these libraries.
You may be able to view the Hard Disk Drive as a List
and see if you can find an entry for large blocks of items
that may not be otherwise noted; but this may not be a
way to go. There had been utilities to help find and fix
the issue of lost space on a hard drive.
Sometimes, a 'previous system' folder may be using some.
Or an older anti-virus program (norton) may waste space.
You may need to consider a really decent external HDD
enclosure that can support full clones of everything; be
sure the enclosed drive circuitry supports Mac OS X boot
capabilities. Then make a clone (carbon copy cloner) of
the entire contents to a prepared external drive, test it and
be sure tor repair disk permissions on the booted clone.
PPC Macs generally require FW400/800 external enclosure
devices to support OS X booting; later ones USB2.0.
And then use Disk Utility from the clone or booted install DVD
and use its Secure Erase to overwrite 7-passes of zeros over
the hard drive contents, then use the Partition Map tool to give
it a suitable partition map scheme for the hardware involved,
plus Format the drive to HFS+ Journaled, and either move the
clone back in, or reinstall a completely new system from scratch.
This may be a better way, and in the process, give the old HDD
a workout to see if it isn't just getting old and starting to fail. If so,
you could consider a larger external (partition into two, if big) and
run the computer from there, if you don't want to take apart the
iMac and replace the original hard drive with a larger/faster one.
    Anyway, have fun.
    Good luck & happy computing!

I have just setup a new ipad and first app I downloaded was ibook.  my ipad says its installed but I can't find it.  any suggestions please?

For some reason this happens to some people.  The one thing that works is to reboot your iPad.  To reboot:  Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time for at least 10 seconds (ignore the red slider) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad wil restart.  Once it's back up, I'm betting you'll see iBooks.

  • DSP3 opens but I can't access anything

I've recently updated my OS to Tiger, as well as install Motion 2 and Soundtrack Pro. Since then I have had all sorts of problems. I can open DSP 3, but not any projects. I can see the interface, but I can't access anything, it's like the program froze. My toolbar at the top of the interface is also not present. I've tried reinstalling every program (FCP, DSP, Soundtrack Pro, Motion, and Compressor) but I am still having the same issues. I can also not get compressor to even open. I just bounces once on the dock and the tower sounds like it starts to do something but then it just sits there. The export to compressor command is also greyed out in FCP. Soundtrack Pro and Motion also seem to be acting quirky when I open them, but I haven't really used them yet, so it could be normal. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion. It did help. Why didn't that download when I would do the software update? Everything seems to be working now except for Compressor. It still just bounces once and then sits there. It is still greyed out in FCP as an export option. I guess I should take this question to the compressor discussion page, but if you have any other ideas I would gladly accept them. Thanks for your help so far. I am at least another step closer to having a working system again.

  • Mini says its full buts its FAR from it.. HELP

When I go to update my new songs into my Ipod.. it says it cant update because its full but it only has 270 songs in it?!?!?!?
    please help

I have the same problem. My Ipod has 497 songs and it says that it is full and I dont think that it is. Before it started saying that it was full, an exclamation point triangle thing popped up and I updated both my Ipod and Itunes. It started saying that it updated my Ipod, but when I would disconnect it, the songs wouldnt be there. It says that I have 2.8 GB left to download, but on Itunes it says that I have none. What the heck is going on?

  • Apple TV says its full, but hardly anything is on there....

ARG!  I lost everthing on my apple tv!  Turned it on, nothing there.  So, I started to download some new shows.
Now it says its full when I hardly have anything on there.  I'm not interested in getting my old stuff back. Just want
to download new stuff.  I do not sync with my imac, just download directly to the apple tv.  I'm wondering if there is stuff
hiding on there somewhere to make it feel like its full.  Any idea how to fix this?
    Thanks!!!
    S

You might start by restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for a 30 seconds.
If this doesn't help you need to sync with your mac. I'm not sure whether you mean you have never synced with your mac or you just don't do anymore. You may have lost everything I don't know at this stage only connecting to your mac will tell you. You may see a huge amount of other, you may be able to transfer some or all of your content to iTunes.
If you really don't care about anything that might or might not be on there and a restart doesn't help, all you need to do is carry out a factory restore from the settings menu (assuming the problem is recoverable)

  • Missing application (says its installed but I can't find it)

Ok so I just downloaded an app and as soon as I went to check and see it it was gone! I can't find it by spotlight search either and it says its downloaded! So how can I find it or reinstall it without my computer?

  • Hard drive almost full, but I can't access info to delete!?

I opened up Safari for the first time in a long time and it asked to update my keychains. I did. Then after I restarted my mac everything went back to default and I can't find anything I had saved. All music, pictures, gone!
The strange thing is when I look at the free space available, it says I have 5.6 gigs left, which is the same amount of space I had before everything was erased! Does anybody know what's going on? How can I find everything that was lost?

  • Can't copy any more songs to my ipod from itunes - says its full but i have deleted heaps off my ipod to make room!

I can not seem to add any more songs to my ipod. Normally i just click and drag songs i have highlighted in my itunes folders up to the Administrators' ipod and it puts a copy there in my ipod. however i keep getting a message saying there is not enough room  . . . and so can't add another song. I have deleted heaps of songs off my ipod to ensure sufficient room for these new songs i want to load but i keep failing - why would that be? Is the space not freeing up when i delete exiting music off my ipod for some reason - or any other reason?

Try rebooting your iPod with it still connected to iTunes.  To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
How exactly are you deleting this tracks from the iPod?

  • ICloud says its full but my next backup is under 5GB

I got an alert saying that my iCloud storage was full, yet my last backup was 4.6GB. I've deleted 300 photos, and it says my next backup is 4.5GB and it still won't let me back it up. (I thought it would be less than that as I deleted so many photos). How can I sort this so I can backup my phone to iCloud?
There is also a message saying that an extra 4.3GB is required to backup the phone... but the next backup is only 4.5GB so I don't understand this.
And also, do you need to have your photo library in the backup if you have photo stream? I've read that photo stream backs the photos up so you don't need photo library but i'm not sure on this.
    Thanks

I don't have beta, I wasn't sure what it was so I never selected it.
My mail is empty so its not that either.
If I deleted the photo library from the backup would the pictures still be in the backup?
Also, in my usage, it says that I have 2.9GB of photos, yet on my iCloud it says I have 3.2GB, which I don't understand?

  • My brand new ipod touch 5 says it is connect to the internet but I can't access anything

I just opened an Ipod touch 5 and it says it is connect to my wireless internet at full strength, but when I try to use an internet based application it doesn't work. I can't connect to anything that needs internet.

The problem could be caused by a firewall in the router.  For reasons that I do not understand, that will affect IOS (iPod/iPad) communication but will not affect computers or other devices.
You will need administrative access to the router.  If a firewall is present, turn it off and test the iPod again.  If it works, turn the firewall back on but weaken it a notch and test the iPod again.  Repeat as required.

  • Storage is full but I can't remove anything from my iphone 5s

Hi there. I just upgraded to an iPhone 5s (16GB) from an iPhone 4 (16GB). While still using the iPhone 4 I enabled iCoud and iTunes Match and synced them across all my other devices (iPad and PCs). Now when using my iPhone 5s I constantly receive a message stating my storage is full (this didn't happen on my iPhone 4). When I sync my iPhone 5s to iTunes (version 12.0.1) it shows me that I have +7GB of music on my phone and +2GB of photos on my phone. However, because I have iCloud and iTunes Match enabled, I cannot locate any physical files on my phone in order to delete them. Has anyone else come across this issue, or have useful suggestions on how to fix the issue? Is there a trick to locating the files that may actually be physically on my device? Thanks for your help!

Sorry everyone, but with a bit more digging I was able to solve the issue. However, after locating the rouge music files, now iTunes shows I have +8GB of "other"! I think I've found some advice on getting rid of most of the "other" stuff. Sorry for the post...I should have done a bit more research before posting.

  • I updated to ios7 and got the set up asst and selected restore from back up.... can't get itunes to do the restore as it wants me to turn off find my iphone, but I can't access anything on my iphone to turn off as I am in ios set up assistant

I updated my iphone 4 to ios7.04 in itunes.  In itunes, it appears that all my data/apps/music/etc are on the phone  (but I cannot see anything on phone itself except setup screens).  I am getting the ios7 setup screen on my iphone.  I have selected my language, selected my wifi netowork, enabled location services, and chosen resore from itunes back up.  Next screen I get says to connec to itunes, which I did.  In itunes, I select restore from backup.  I then get a message that I need to disable "find my iphone " "Go to iCloud Settings on your iPhone and turn off Find My iPhone before restoring your iPhone."  I cannot go to any settings on my iphone as I cannot get past the connect to iturnes screen!  I have also tried  not enabling location services and that made no difference.  I cannot get to anyplace on my iphone except the ios setup first few screens.  I am going crazy, there must be some simple thing I have missed!  Any help appreciated!

I found a way to get to my data.  So do not need remedy at this time.
fwiw, I changed my ios7.04 setup answer of restore from itunes to new iphone. Eventually that allowed me to set up icloud, then turn off find iphone, restore.  Very strange ios update.
