I-pod still not working over year after malfunction.

I would like to either know how to fix my ipod, how i can trade mine in for a new one, or get my money back for my ipod nano because i hav been on the support section of the apple website, posted questions and even tried everything they have suggested to fix my ipod and none of it worked. I'm just sick and tired of my ipod not working and tired of spending countless hours wasting my time trying everything people have offered. My ipod first gen. black 2GB nano has not worked in over a year now and turns on shows menu and even goes into the files. I hook it up to my computer( after syncing my ipod and being told the music is corrupted deleted all the music off it, then installed itunes 7), and the computer doesn't read it is even there, either does itunes (I've done this to a relatives computer as well and same results). Im not blaming Apple for anything but it is mysteriously funny how a few days(literally, not weeks or months) after my warranty/support runs out, my ipod stops working. I would just like to figure this out and get back to listening to my favorite music on my favorite listening device. Please, some-one help with this and let me know of anyone i can contact about this, no more suggestions, i'm sure ive tried them all.

So it's been broken over a year and the one year warranty ran out before it broke. That's two years. This would mean you purchased it before the 1st gen Nano was even released (12 October 2005).

So you have successfully Restored it?
You noted you have tried it on different computers but have you tried a different cable?

Now on iOS 5.1.1 - Chinese Input STILL not working 3+ years later

I have just updated to iOS 5.1.1 and after ONE day I already have to restore my iPad. This is, of course, after reinstalling all kinds of apps and getting data back into my programs.
I added several languages to the keyboard options but everytime I tried to change from English (the default) to another one (almost always Chinese Pinyin) it would crash.
So I thought I had too many languages installed. So I uninstalled every single one except English and Chinese Pinyin.
The Chinese Pinyin would STILL crash. So stupidly (I say this because Apple doesn't think to add "safety nets" to their bugs) I removed English and left ONLY Chinese Pinyin.
Now when I go into ANY program and "click" on a text box, the app will crash. Every single app (except Spotlight, strangely enough.)
The worst part is, when I open Settings and go to Keyboard, the Settings app immediately crashes, so there is literally NOTHING I can do at this point.
Here we are on iOS 5 and the problems with Chinese Input (and many other foreign languages) are NOT fixed. Actually this seems to have gotten worse because now my iPad won't even function without a restore.
This is disgusting. I have read MANY complaints about this in ENGLISH forums. Imagine the 10's of millions of Chinese people that have purchased iOS devices and are facing these problems. I guess Apple is forcing them to type in English? I guess Apple doesn't understand that just as many people type in Chinese as English?
When is this going to be fixed?
Does anyone have a quick solution to access the Keyboard section of my Settings to "fix" the problem (remove Chinese Pinyin and live without it again)?
I use my iPad for 2 things: to read my school textbooks (mostly pdf format, using GoodReader which is an excellent program) and for studying Chinese. Well guess I can't study Chinese. Thanks for not fixing a problem that has been going on for 3+ years, Apple! Glad I'm using an Android phone that doesn't have these kind of problems. After the iPad dies, I will definitely switch to an Android tablet. What a joke.

I was having the same problem few minutes ago. Here's the solution I found. You have to do these settings in all your apple devices (ie: iPhone, iPad, etc). In your iPad: first got to Settings, then to messages (make sure iMessage slider button is ON), the go to Receive at, then in the apple ID you have to sign in with your full email address (not your short apple ID) the same one you use in iCloud, iTunes, etc, then after you put your password your are sign in with your iMessage account.
After that go to You can be reached for messages at, and then enter you full email address and since you are already signed in your email address will be verified in your device. In you iPhone use your cell number instead an email address since most of your contacts know your phone number, but you have a choice to use your email address instead with your phone. So it's up to you what you wanna use.
Rememeber you also have to do this same procedure with Facetime to work with all you devices. To test Facetime i called my iPhone with my new iPad and voila...it worked. Good luck trying these settings.

I have a .avi to mpeg4 still not working

I converted a .avi to an mpeg4 file with quicktime pro, and it's still not working!! After a long disturbing process their was no results. On quicktime when i play this file(which is now an mpeg4 file) it shows a blank screen with audio from its original file which was fine, although still no picture. Not really much more to expalain. Early video formats had a problem keeping the audio and video information in sync. On solution was to intersperse the audio and video information as blocks of data on the same track/in the same stream of data. In that way one form of data could not "overrun" the other and become "out of sync." This can still be a problem with some converter applications if the wrong settings or wrong intermediate formats are used during conversion. The converter application must separate the audio and video data into separate streams and temporatily store them on separate tracks of an "intermediate" file type. This intermediate file is then used as the source file for the final target file format. An intermediate file is used in order to eliminate the problems associated with compression schemes which use differing data rates and/or bit depths which can cause one stream of information to become physically longer than the other when the data is merged into a single file.

Yes, if you repurchase it you may lose your progress. The exception would be a game that stored all your progress on a server under your ID
If you want to retain your progress you have two choices:
1. Don't apply the update.
2. Use your fathers account password to update the game.

I too have only recently encountered this problem. I have been able to burn disks before but it keeps making all these weird sounds. It might be a hardware problem but the fact that everything else that uses a disk works I doubt it.

Make sure you have the Latest Version of iTunes (v11.1.5) Installed on your computer

Calendar reminders (notifications) still NOT working, even after 602 update.....

So, Verizon Wireless released the 602 update to the Gingerbread OS for the Droid X, and the calendar reminder popups (notifications) are still NOT working properly.
This is VERY frustrating, as I use these notifications (reminder pop ups) for everything from business related (meetings, etc) to personal (when to take medicines, etc).
It's also VERY frustrating because BEFORE Gingerbread, when the Droid X ran Froyo, there was NOT a problem with the calendar and its reminders.
I would assume that there are MANY, MANY people being affected by this issue...and I wonder why Verizon hasn't "put the heat" on Google to FIX this issue which is clearly related to the Android OS, more specifically, Gingerbread.
I used to like the Droid X very much, but now I'm counting the days until I can get an iPhone. At least you know what you're getting, and won't have an update "break" functions of the phone.
So, Verizon, if you're listening... PLEASE get this calendar notification problem FIXED.

I'm the original poster of this topic. And let me tell you the steps that I went through to try to get this resolved, and then I'll let you know the ultimate solution that I wound up doing and am happy about (but am NOT happy about Verizon & Motorola).
1) updated DroidX to latest 602 update.
2) went into admin partition and deleted cache
still did not work
3) went into admin partition and did hard reset (complete restore) from inside the admin partition
Still did not get calendar reminders to work.
4) went into normal phone and accessed "Restore Phone to Factory Specs" from the Privacy menu in settings. This caused the phone to do a similar hard reset as in step 3, except it also ran the beginning software (welcome to your Droid, we now have to activate your phone, etc).
Calendar reminders did not work. (REMEMBER... when I say they did not work, I mean that the reminders would go off EVENTUALLY , but anywhere from 30mins AFTER the appointment to literally HOURS AFTER the appointment).
5) Created a COMPLETELY NEW AND DIFFERENT calendar at Google under a DIFFERENT screen name/account. Configured DroidX to completely forget the original calendar and to start using the NEW one.
Reminders still did NOT work properly.
6) Once again, tried hard resets.
NOPE. Still did NOT work.
7) CALLED Verizon Wireless and described my problem and they pretty much didn't/couldn't help and said they would "send a report to the engineering team" about the problem.
And HERE is the thing that REALLY BURNED ME UP about this WHOLE ENTIRE DEBACLE..... my DroidX worked 100% correctly BEFORE the Gingerbread upgrade to the Android OS. When it was running Froyo (previous OS), every single calendar reminder on my original calendar worked every single time, on time, every time. BUT... AFTER Gingerbread, it just didn't work. (Don't get me started with the phantom powering on of the phone after it was powered off problem that STILL exists after the 602 upgrade).
SO.......... what did I eventually do??? Well, by this time, I was eligible for early upgrade at upgrading pricing and switched to the iPhone4 (I didn't want the 4S). AND YOU KNOW WHAT??? Using the ORIGINAL GOOGLE calendar that I used before all the above stuff happened, my reminders on the iPhone4 work all the time, every time. These include appointments that I made 8 months ago to new ones that I make every day. And for all of them, the iPhone4 sets the reminder chime off EXACTLY when I want it to.
Now, I realize that this doesn't address the problem for you, Ganamide (who wrote above), but for me, I finally got to the point where I had missed critical appointments with clients and couldn't wait around for the DroidX Calendar Reminder Problem to be resolved.
So Verizon Wireless and Motorola (maker of DroidX) and Google (maker of Android OS) all have "negative points" in my book for allowing such a problem to continue without proper resolution. Apple, on the other hand, gets "positive points" in my book for making a product that is rock solid and works well.

B110a black in still not working after trying all recommended solutions

Black ink still not working after spending many hours trying to sort. I've cleaned the printhead carefull several times (is immaculate now) and run the system clean up and alignment functions several many times too. I've cleaned the metal connecting points. I wiggled things carefully. I've attempted printing multiple pages in b/w in case it was going to take a while to get the ink flowing again. I've replaced one (expensive) new black cartridge with another brand new (expensive) cartridge and still nothing. This machine is probably out of warranty but seriously not very old. It really ought to be working okay. We use it regularly a little bit every week. Any ideas?

Trackpad Still not working right after replacement

I've recently been having issues with my trackpad on my Macbook Pro, i took it to the apple store last week and they replaced it due to it not registering physical clicks what so ever. However, although a new trackpad was issued/replaced and the problem is slightly better, the trackpad is still not working/registering physical clicks in several areas, anyone got any tips? I also can't really afford to go back to the store again at the moment, however i do have Apple Care which may open more windows for me?

If no joy, call Apple on the phone and tell them the situation. They will try to troubleshoot it over the phone and should be able to advise you as to what to do.

If you do not find a solution in the iPod nano (6th generation) - User Guide, suggest that you call AppleCare if still under warranty or take a trip to your local Apple Store or AASP.
