I Pod 'syncs' but no songs show up on I Pod

I've recently bought a new Nano (4th generation), to replace an older model. But now, when I connect the I Pod to my laptop, syncing starts, but it still says '0' songs on my I Pod, even though I tunes has updated the songs (it shows as blue - for 'audio' - on the memory bar).
Then when I plug my I Pod in at a later date, the songs that were 'synced' are now showing up as 'other'.
Basically I tunes doesn't seem to be recognizing my I Pod correctly.
I've tried the 5 R's to no avail. Then, when I tried removing i tunes (in order to reinstall it), I got this message saying:
+The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.+
+Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below."+
When I try to download new I tunes 8, I encounter the same problem. I can never get beyond that point. So I cannot remove i tunes, and I think my I Pod isn't being recognized in the correct way.
Any idea what the problem might be, or how to fix it?
Barney

I've had the same problem with my iPod nano. I'm running iTunes, the latest version, on a Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows Vista, but I've managed to get the iPod to sync on a Dell computer and laptop that run on Windows XP.
Basically, iTunes says that the sync was successful, right? And then, once ejected, it says 0 songs are on the iPod? The same things has happened to my iPod.
If anyone has a solution to this, please share!

  • HT1296 I am trying to sync my ipod to my computer thru itunes, I have already successfully synced my ipad, but keep getting stuck on the sync for the ipod it identifies, the device appears to be syncing but doesn't show up my new music or my new playlist?

I am trying to sync my i-pod to my computer thru itunes.  I successfully synced my Ipad thru the computer, but am trying to do the same with the Ipod.  The device shows up on my computer and appears to be syncing, but nothing changes.  I have tried dragging the new music to the device, but a symbol appears with a slash thru the middle, as if denying access, any suggestions what to try next.  I have synced on this Ipod succesfully in the past, Suggestions?

To drag and drop you have to use the Manual Method. That method is included here:

  • AFTER SYNC IN SETTINGS SONGS SHOWS "LOADING"

After sync in settings songs just shows as loading, just started after upgrading to IOS 8.1.3

If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

  • Shuffle seems to sync, but no songs appear in Contents

My daughter just got a refurbished 2nd Gen. Shuffle. Our Mac and iTunes recognize it, but everytime we connect it, it goes through 2 seconds of "syncing" (or so it says) but nothing appears in the iPod's content window.
We've tried all the R nonsense (Restart, Restore, bla, bla, bla) MANY times to no avail.
We've also tried manually managing and dragging songs to the iPod, but it won't let us do that either.
It says it's syncing, but nothing shows up. Any ideas?

  • Strange sync error...says it's syncing, but no songs movetransfer!

My Ipod had been working fine, but then it wouldn't sync, either manually or automatically. It says it's syncing, but none of the new songs would be added to my ipod. I also noted that it was showing the wrong album art....so I did the 5R's. Now I've got no music on my ipod, and I'm unable to sync anything on. If I look at songs under the ipod while it says it is syncing, it shows them grayed out for a second on the ipod, then they disappear.
I'm working on windows 2000 w/ newest software I can.
    Anyone seen this before?

It might be worth quickly checking on a Windows drive letter confusion (although that's not commonly associated with misplaced artwork):
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • Match is off but all songs show in Music app

I have turned off Match but all songs still show up in Music app. This makes the music app very slow because Match has lots of songs from the iMac.
I have a iPhone 4S. I restored iOS and I still have the problem.
I also have an iPhone 5 logged in to the same iTunes account and it does not have this problem.

Are you sure they're not really there?  Streaming on an iPhone isn't really streaming.  Even though it still shows the little cloud, it actually downloads the song until space is needed.  If you turn off Match or turn off
"Show all music", these files will appear. If you haven't run low on space, everything you've ever listened to will be there.
If you actually want to delete all the music on your phone, try
    Settings->General->Usage->Music
then do "Edit" or right-swipe to delete it all.
On the other hand, this really shouldn't slow things down.  I have an iPhone 4 and a huge Matched music collection, and it's pretty fast.

  • Trying to manually sync 2 phones, songs show on one, but not the other

    Hi all,
I recently upgraded my daughters cell phone to my wife's old iphone.  I successfully imaged my wifes old phone (4) to her new one (4s).  I then restored that phone to factory settings create my daughters.  I was adding music from iTunes, which I also sync to my iphone (4).  Some of the songs are showing as greyed out on her device.  They show up fine, and can be played on mine. It seems to be somewhat random - sometimes, track 01 is there and the others aren't, sometimes the whole album is not there, sometimes a single song that's on a playlist is greyed, sometimes they are there.  I did another factory reset and reinstall on her phone with the same results.
    Thanks

    hi catfish197621,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
    You can try to:
    1. Download the latest updates Over The Air (OTA) to get the latest patches and bug fixes on the OS (go to settings > about tablet > check for system update).
    2. Download a camera app utility like Camera Zoom FX to see if you can zoom in and out and switch to the front facing camera.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPod Classic syncs but no songs on iPod

Hi I just connected to iTunes so I could add some new songs to my iPod - it wiped my collection from the iPod.  I did a reset, then a restore and finally a factory reset.  The factory reset seemed to work, as my iTunes advised it was syncing (about an hour to do so, but not surprising given the size of my library).  After the sync finished, I disconnected, however there are no songs or films on my iPod.  When connected to iTunes, the library shows in full that it is on the iPod, but it doesn't seem to translate to the iPod.
When I go into the settings on the iPod it is recognising that the data is on the hard drive (shows the capacity reduction for the files), however no files to choose.  Any help would be fantastic - I need my music!

Thanks - have done this twice now ....
    Done what, Sync, Restore?
    I'll ask again;
is the iPod showing the storage space being that is being used as Other?
    have you Synced again?
if a Sync didn't fix it, have you used iTunes to Restore the iPod?
A Restore is not the same as a Reset!
A Reset will not fix this problem.
    Subi06 said:

... and that may be because everything is "Other", which the iPod cannot use.

  • Music sync but doesn't show up

Tonight I went to add about 130 songs to the ones already on my iPhone. There was about 834MB left before the sync, after the sync, 200MB. After the sync, the music no longer shows up on the phone and of course it won't play. The memory is used but in the about screen it shows 0 songs 0 videos. I remove the songs using iTunes and the space all shows as free. I add one song only and it shows no songs on the iPhone again. This is on a MBP with Tiger and 1.1.2 on the iPhone.
I went and synced on my XP laptop, I restored and then synced, all music shows up and plays perfectly now that I have lost all my settings on my MBP iPhone backup.
How can I get my music to show up on my iPhone that I sync on my Mac?

I'm not sure I understand what you say when you say you don't want to make a new library but fix the old one -- fixing the old one basically is making a new one.
I'd do this -- select all the songs in your library and press delete. Answer "no" to removing them from your hard drive. Then just drag and drop your songs into that library and all will be well.

  • Apps bought before 3.0 upgrade are synced but don't show up

After I upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0 (I also upgraded to iTunes 8.2 just before that) all of the apps I bought/downloaded (priced and free apps) before the upgrade except two (about 33 apps) will sync to my iphone. Itunes shows the information at the top that it syncs it.
BUT when the sync is finished the apps are not on my homescreen (except for 2 apps) and they're not visible in spotlight search or whatever it's called that's to the left of the homescreen. Apps I bought after the upgrade work fine however. In settings>general>about it displays all the apps being on the phone and the same with the memory bar and info in itunes - it shows that the apps are on my phone.
I tried to erase apps from itunes and the phone and buy them again (download them for free because I had payed once). That didn't make any difference. I then tried with deleting the apps off my phone and buying them from itunes store directly on the phone. What happened was that an app would be downloaded and the installation would start but then it froze in that state. I said "installing" and there was the bar and the bar had gone all the way to the right end where it froze. The icon wiggled if I held down any icon for some time the way you do when you're gonna rearrange the homescreen. But there was no cross on the corner so I couldn't delete it, and I couldn't open it. If I rebooted the device or installed a completely new app bought in the itunes store on the phone this frozen icon saying "installing" would disappear. I waited pretty long before I did any of that to see if the app would finish installing. Then afterwards I checked settings>general>about and there it showed as if the apps were on the device.
Another issue I had in connection with this is that I kept getting the message in iTunes that my computer was no longer authourized or something like that. But the thing is it has been showing that same message for a long time and it always asks me if I want to authorize it, I click authorize just to get the message that my computer or account or what it was (sorry, forgot) already is authorized and then the sync will proceed as it should. This thing about the authorization is weird because it is authorized.
I also tried with restoring the phone but it didn't help. I tried with reinstalling iTunes and that didn't help either.
If anyone else has had the same problem I'm grateful for advice, help, comments or anything.

I lost several App Icons after install of 3.0 upgrade. Facebook, Tweetie, Birdhouse and a few others are no longer on the home screen, but they do sync through iTunes and I can access them if I move the home screen to the right (to show the spotlight search screen) and I can open them, the icons just won't show up. It is very inconvenient, hope Apple creates a fix for this soon.

  • Ipod classic not allowing access to to music or pod casts - shows zero files in music and pod cast but used space shows 3/4 full it is recognized by itunes sometimes on my pc but unable to view content

ipod classic shows disk 3/4 full  but when i look in the folders  it shows zero for music and zero for podscasts. i can not access these folders on the ipod or when it does connect to my windows computer thru itunes.  it does not connect 90% of the time now.  i let it check the disk when it was connected to my pc which did not good  -  any other ideas?  other than restore?

Your iPod filesystem is corrupted, so your music and podcastr is in the Others, this is most likely caused by a slow USB connection, which timeout during sync.
    Try the Hard Reset first
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.
Here is the Apple support Article on the 5Rs
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/
Then do the iPod Disk Diagnostic, in this earlier post by tt2, it wont fix your problem, but help you decide if your iPod is dying and causing the timeouts.
    Have a nice day!
