I-pod touch, 4.3 software, pairing ipod with wireless keyboard: PIN?

following instructions to pair my i-Pod touch with my i-mac wireless keyboard, after the i-Pod tells me that the keyboard is discovered and i click on continue, then a keyboard appears on the i-pod and asks me to enter the PIN for the keyboard. I can't find a PIN anywhere for the keyboard. pairing with the i-mac was done at the factory and no PIN or PasssKey can be found. How do i type in a PIN or Passkey if I have no way of knowing what it is? I've looked through the articles in support but none seem to tell me how to find the passkey. Does anybody know how I can get it or another way to get the keyboard paired with my i-pod? Thanks for any help!

Thanks for your reply. It led me to the answer. My keyboard is a 2003 keyboard even though it came with my i-mac in late 06. It is the 4 battery white keyboard which according to the article you linked me to is not compatible with pairing with the i-pod. Unfortunately , I accidentally marked this question as answered in the only other reply I received. So sorry that you will not get credit for it but I do thank you for taking the time to help me.

My iphone 4S wont pair with my apple wireless keyboard. Its "Now Discoverable" and the little wheel keeps spining but says not paired. What can I do?

The iPhone bluetooth will only pair with headsets, speakers and the like, not keyboards.
    Don't shoot the messenger!
Just did a check, the new ones possibly will pair.  Which keyboard do you have?

  • HUGE issues with I Pod Touch and new software

Christmas Day I opened I tunes to load some new CD's for my hubby and I. It said I needed the new I Tunes, so I downloaded it. Procedeed to get CD's loaded and plugged in hubby's I pod (it's about 6 years old and wheel style) it synced and was done in no time.  I then plugged in my 3 year old I pod Touch, the system said it too needed an update, so I procedeeded with the IPod update.  Towards the end, it said it was unable to complete the update (error 1602 and again later error 1604).  It then locked up the Ipod and wiped it out.  I have spent 2 days doing ALL the various steps I can find ANYWHERE to fix the error. The forums ALL say it's my computer and USB issues.  I have done ALL the steps numerous times to "repair" the issue with NO luck it still says error 37 when I try to install the USB driver ( the port is an "enhanced" 2.0 port).  I took the same cord and I pod downstairs to my daughters comuter that is running a version of Itunes 10.5.1 I think, It restored my I pod to the factory settings and it now turns on and has all the information to start to configure it again.  So, took it BACK to my computer thinking that now the restore/update is complete that my computer should "see" the I pod again.   NOPE!  It still has the SAME problem.  I have tried to install an older version of Itunes and it will not let me as the library has been "created by a newer version of I tunes".  I am NOT a computer person at all and all the items I've tried have NOT worked.  It is obviously NOT my comupter having USB issues as my daughters much older computer not only found the Ipod, but was able to restore/update it.  I HAS to be the new ITunes 11.1 version.  I have over 2500 songs on my I pod and depend on it at work as I have no radio reception.
I am at my wits end and very angry.
I run Windows XP on an older computer, but as I mentioned, my daughters older version of I tunes not only found the I pod, but restored it and updated the software.  I want MY Library back on MY I pod so I need to use MY computer.
Any SIMPLE easy to follow ideas to fix this once and for all would be greatly appreciated.  I have done all the USB steps and uninstalled/reinstalled and did the recovery mode and all those steps so many times.  It still won't read the "driver" on the I Pod touch.
    Thanks for any help.

    I guess it's 4th Generation, I have no idea, it's a 32G and I've had it 3 years now.
Her computer runs Windows XP as well.  It's an even older computer, the ONLY difference is that I did NOT update ITunes to her computer.  Problem is, MY library is on MY computer.
I know it's an issue with I Tunes itself based on the fact my husbands older I pod will sync just fine to our library after th new I Tunes updates.  It is JUST my Ipod touch.
I cannot go back to an older version of Itunes either because the library was "created in a newer version"

  • I-Pod Touch, 3.0 Software, Various Issues

I have a second generation I-Pod Touch. Got my first 12-7-08 but the battery died so I used my warrenty to get a replacement. That worked out fine.
Couple of days ago I paid the $9.95 for the 3.0 Software. Its ok. I don't have any problems with it except it killed 1 of my apps which is currently working on a 3.0 compatible upgrate so thats no big deal.
I've noticed the weaker wifi signal. I read another post on here about setting your router to B and G. I set it to G only. That took care of it, however yes it still is a little slower then before. But not slow enough to keep it from functioning in the way I need it to. Anyways, whoever posted that info, thank you. That helped another problem.
My biggest issue is a grey (black when in the settings function line that suddenly appeared the other day on the bottom half of the screen. I don't know what caused this even though I have done a lot of internet research and other people have had these problems. I did leave it on all day docked with the screen on (would that cause the problem)
The line isn't that noticeable but the fact that its there irritates me.
I called Apple Support and they wanted me to send it in and pay $30 for shipping which is another irritating thing. They also recommended me to an Apple Store. I don't live near one. So now I'm waiting for another FED-EX box.
Is there anyway to get rid of these lines and does anybody know what the cause of it is? I want to avoid having to go thru this replacement process again. Its a pain and the Fed-Ex truck (which requires you to sign for everything) always arrives when I'm asleep.
    Thanks

Instead of limping along, take some action to fix your iPod, please.
Obviously, before posting, I checked and applied all the resets and restores as descibed in Appendix A of the iPod touch user guide.
WiFi is still erratic and the bottom of the iPod (the battery?) is still going hot.
I'd greatly appreciate some positive ideas and help.
I'm waiting for OS 3.1 now.

  • Will an I pod touch 5 from amazon still come with the 1 year apple warrenty?

Will an I pod touch 5 bought from amazon uk still have the 1 year apple warrenty?

If it has a warranty in effect then it will only be usable in the UK. If you want to extend the warranty with AppleCare+, then you need to do that within 30 days of purchase (new.)

  • Can't pair my Apple wireless keyboard

My Apple wireless keyboard was working and pairing with my iMac until this morning.  I got a low battery message, replaced the batteries and the keyboard wouldn't pair.  It was recognized but wouldn't/couldn't pair (though it will pair with my iPad).  I tried to pair without a "PIN" number and now the keyboard isn't even recognized by my iMac (though still working fine with the iPad).  What's going on and how do I fix it?

    Hello:
    Try a couple of things:
Trash a preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) and restart.
    Reset the PRAM and SMC
I am assuming you have a wired KB that works.

  • HT201178 My old wireless keyboard malfunctioned. How can i pair a new wireless keyboard when I can't even log in to access the setup?

Should I have purchased a wired keyboard?

First make sure the batteries aren't dead and that the keyboard hasn't already been paired with another device. If it hasn't, the keyboard should pair automatically when you reboot. You may have to press and hold the power button on the right side of an Apple keyboard until the LED starts flashing.
    Otherwise see these support articles:
Mac mini (Mid 2011 and later) and iMac (Late 2012): Bluetooth keyboard may not pair during Setup Assistant
Apple Wireless Keyboard: Difficulty during pairing process
If you have a third-party Bluetooth keyboard, you may need a wired keyboard to complete the pairing process. It's a good idea to keep a cheap wired keyboard and mouse or trackball as backups for a desktop Mac anyway, because Bluetooth isn't completely reliable.

  • TA24778 issues with pairing an Apple wireless keyboard by bluetooth with iPad Mini

Does anyone have any tips about successfully pairing an Ipad Mini with an Apple Wireless keyboard, please? Apart from changing the batteries on the keyboard, I have had a lot of difficulty in doing it successfully.

Which Apple wireless keyboard are you using?
See this Apple doc -> iOS: Apple Wireless Keyboard compatibility
The original Apple Wireless Keyboard, introduced in 2003, is not compatible:
Apple Wireless Keyboard (2003): Features a white case and uses four AA batteries.
If you're using a compatible keyboard, does it pair with your Mac? Try turning it off and then back on and then pairing it again.

  • Mac not pairing to the wireless keyboard following upgrade

We have an older Mac (2009) with a wireless keyboard. Unfortunately after the recent update to Yosemite 10.10.3, there was a small issue concerning pairing upon restart. The green light would flash for a few minutes, but the Mac simply refused to recognize it.
Despite several mundane efforts (changing batteries, unplugging/replugging all connections, etc.) I could not log on. I also ensured that all other gadgets in the immediate vicinity had  Bluetooth turned off. The only advice provided on these pages as far as I could glean from my phone was to simply go in under System Preferences and tweak the Bluetooth settings. I would have gladly done so, had I been able to even log in.
The end result is that I went to a local non-Apple affiliated electronics store and purchased a garish USB-connected gamer keyboard for an over the top sum of money. Design-wise, it is not compatible with the sleek minimalist Apple design, yet it was the only USB keyboard available which supported OS X. A plug-and-play wonder, it got me through the Forgotten Password? (no, but that's where I ended up) screen, and once logged on, the old Apple wireless keyboard pulled a Lazarus on me and is now up and running without me having to mess around with the Bluetooth settings.
Have others experienced this problem following the update?
If so, what other possibilities are there to log on?
There must be a simpler (and less costly) solution than simply buying a hideously ugly new keyboard which my tween son will drool over. The solution I came up with worked, although it is irritating to discover that most keyboards on sale in the market cater solely to the Windows universe, and thus incompatible with OS X unless you move up in to the Android Dungeon-quality nerdfest keyboard.
    Thanks!

Purchase from someplace that specializes in Apple, I'd recommend using OWC (www.macsales.com). They are a US based company however they have many products available on Amazon and they also ship internationally to most countries.
