I pod touch wont do anything!

I just got a new Ipod touch today. I've try to connect it to my old Power Book G4, but cant connect, here's the error message I've got: "Itunes could not connect to the ipod because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000001)."
Can someone tell me what's happening?

Is your iPod able to turn on? If so i would suggest a restore.

i have tried to restore the ipod touch and it does nothing at all i plug it in to the computer and it still does nothing i have tried everything

- Does the iPod charge when connected to the computer or give any indication that it is connected?

My I pod touch wont sync! I understand from other communities that I can do this manually using a drag and drop method but how do I turn on manual management. It will no longer back up as it states that the backup is corrupt.

Hi I was updating my i pod touch through i tunes it wouldnt do it so the computer decided to restore the i pod but then an error message came up so now it wont restore i just have a picture of the usb lead showing me to plug into i tunes but the same problem comes up so i cant use my i pod now i wish i never tried to update it can someone please help.....regards Terry

This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode,put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.

What IOS are you running on your iPod? Are you sure the apps will run on your IOS?

My i-pod touch has a USB connection pic as well as the i-tunes logo on it and it wont resent in anyway. Is there a way to fix this? It doesnt show up in i-tunes, nor does it show up in windows explorer. I have re-installed i-tunes, but that hasnt made any difference.

I run windows 7 and cant get ipod to sync. I hav run diagnostics and it says everything fine, but ipod goes through entire sying phase then comes up with following message

B-rock, thanks for posting the above. I actually have the same issue, running Windows XP and I don't have that backup location, \Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\. When I go to Documents and Settings\(username)\ there's a AppData folder followed by:\LocalLow\DataMngr\ .
I have the latest update, 5.0.1 and I have the iPod Touch 3rd gen.
I have tried removing itunes and all that is associated with it then reinstalling and keep getting the same message. I've reset my ipod thinking that would help but still, no backup.
In iTunes, Edit, Preference, Device there are no backups.
What am I doing wrong, can you help?

It was working fine. I went to hang out with my friends turned it off and went inside...came back outside a few hours later and it wouldn't turn on (it was night time). I thought maybe it was dead...pluged it in to my computer and all it does it blink.....HELP!

Have only had my Ipod touch for 1 day .. fully charged it yesterday then disconneted it from lap top and turned it off .. this morning it would not turn on . I have tried holding the start button for 2 mins .. tried holding the start button and the home button together for 30 seconds .. tried holding both buttons for 1 min then kept holding the home button while plugging into laptop .. nothing just have a black screen .
