I pod video/firewire

I mistakenly bought the i-pod adaptor (allowing the i-pod to plug into the wall to be charged) but my adaptor has the firewire connection as opposed to usb...(and I can't return it); could you tell me if I can buy firewire that will fit the adaptor as well as my 60 gb ipod video? if so, is there a particular firewire number that I should make sure I get, since I don't want to repeat my mistake of getting something that won't fit into my i-pod (or the adaptor). thank you for any help you can provide!

There is not a firewire controller chip in the 5th gen iPods.
There is no way at all to sync using a firewire cable-none.
As stated above, you can only charge using a firewire cable-for syncing or data transfer you must use a USB cable.

  • I-Pod Video 30 GB Case

I have just recently bought an I-Pod Video 30GB and I am now looking at purchasing a case for it and also an armband etc so that I can use it whilst training in the gym, anyone got any ideas?

I bought an iSkin set that came in a pack of three. Altough it says that it's for the 60GB pod, it fits my 30GB. I like it very much. It's made of rubber and most importantly comes with a screen protector that is removeable. I bought this one because I couldn't find any other case that had a screen protector. I think it cost $29.99. You can purchase it at the Apple Store.

  • Trade in for new I-pod video

I just have a general question is there a way I can trade in my I-pod mini in for credit towards getting a I-pod video I paid $215 for Ipod-mini and it would only take me $100 more to get the video. I would be really happy if I could trade in the mini towards getting the video.

Apple have no trade in scheme. They do have a recycling program that gets you 10% off the price of a new iPod if you take your old one to an Apple store.
    You should try this.
How to accurately determine your iPod battery life.
Bear in mind that the battery indicator is well known for being inaccurate.

if i already have put the video on my iPod, will it mess up my ipod when i sync it and the file on my ipod is not on my computer?
Yes, it will remove it from the iPod. You should always keep your media in iTunes - you should never rely on the media on your iPod as the only copy.
I dont have the biggest hard drive on my computer
Just buy a nice big external hard drive and move your iTunes Library to that.

  • I-Pod Video 30GB Leather Case

I'm looking for a leather case for my 30G Video I-Pod. I want something that has a built-in wheel and screen cover. No belt clip or arm band is prefered.
I read that Apple's leather case got good reviews, but if I understood it right you have to slide it out of the case to use it. That seems pointless to me b/c you are still explosing your IPOD every time you change a song and if any sand or dirt gets into the case it scratches every time you slide it out right?
Please give me some advice here!

  • I Pod Video Error

I have a I Pod 5th Gen, Latest iTunes 7 and the pod is updated to the latest software. I recently got an error and all my music videos have dissapeard. When i open my iTunes i can see the video files in my pod but they are being detected by the pod as only music files (the little box indicatin that the file is a video file is not showing). I tried formatting my i pod but this problem occurs again and again. I use Videora Converter to convert all my music videos. The songs play properly for some time and then suddenly again the videos dissapear. is this because of some virus that came into my pod through the computer? or is it something wrong with the settings on my pod?
Please help me i am at my wits end as to what to do
    Rythwin

I am also having this problem.
I am using a Mac G5, and my iTunes is version 7.0.2
I have movies on my computer that are .mpeg
I used a converter, and put it in iTunes, and got no sound from the movies. Then I put the .mpeg movie into iTunes, and converted it with iTunes. Yet again, no sound on my iPod. The movies I downloaded with iTunes sound fine, and my music sounds fine.

  • I pod Video wont load rented movies

I downloaded "renteal movies from i tunes. once downloaded they wont copy to my ipod video. message states "it cannot be played on this i pod"??

Correct. Rental movies can be played on the Touch, iPhone, Classic, 3rd gen Nano, Apple TV and on your computer. The iPod with video (which, by the way is not the same thing as the iPod with color display, in which forum you've posted) can play purchased movies and television shows as well as video podcasts, just not rentals.

  • I pod video help

I have the 60 gig i pod and when i put my converted movies onto it it plays the movie for 30 seconds then locks up and the sound goes away and keeps playing . I am very frustrated right now and help could be used thank you

Quicktime, Quicktime Pro and iTunes don't convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.
See:iPod plays video but not audio.
You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.
See this for help: Guide to converting video for iPod (Mac/Windows).

  • Problem with video screen on I-pod Video?

Ok,the video screen has went completely wonky....There's no picture at all,the top half of the screen is like a grey colour and the bottom half is like a really light grey, almost white and the bottom half has got these Black blotches over it and some lines going up,kinda looks like cracks but i felt the outside screen and can't feel any cracks on it...Could the LCD screen be cracked on the inside and would that totally distort the whole screen from me seeing anything.
I can still hear music,it's just nothings coming up on the screen so i'm assuming that it's the LCD screen that's the problem, not the i-pod itself!

Well i sent it away Monday with special delivery, got phone call on Tuesday saying it was fixed so i should get it back by Thursday....My baby's coming back to me
I'm so silly,i was gonna ask you if you wanted the site i sent it to but then noticed your from America which don't do much good seeing as the place is in England!

  • Need help Copying cd's cover art to eYe Pod Video

    Hey all,
I have a quick question. Is there any way to get all the info on a music cd copied to the ipod easily? By this I mean the cds cover art. For example I download a u2 all that you cant leave behind cd and it is recognized by the database however it never shows the cd cover art. The only way I know of to get it is by looking for the picture online myself, saving it to my computer and then putting it on maually for each song in the album thats means doing it like 11-14 times per album and thats a big hassle. Is there any other way to do it? Or does apple just want you to have to buy the songs from them to make it easier? Also my 60gb ipod video came out of the box with only 55.7gb's is that normal? Thanks for all your help and god bless.
    JQ6015YXTXL   Windows XP Pro

Hey I can help you with this one. First of all, yes your hard drive is formatted to 55.7gb of storage space the additional 4.3 gb is reserved for cache and software to work your ipod.
The bulk of your question regarding album art. I have a solution. Look up "iart", this software really has worked well for me. It even gives you lyrics for the tracks! It costs $10 though. Not too bad since it does all the work for you. Hope this helps.

  • Using i-pod video software on nano to get video on Nano

How do i get ipod video software without buying ipod video, if so, can i use this software on my nano?

    Err.. you can't.
The video decoder is not software based, all the playback relies on a Broadcom video processing chip that is only present on the new 5G iPods. The software for iPod video is with the iPod Updaters that are on Apple's website.
Again, the iPod nano cannot play video.
