I pod wont restore through itunes

Hi, had probs with my i pod classic 180gb. Start up in itunes it says "ipod preparing for recovery" then " itunes detected an ipod in recovery mode needs to restore", so i do that but it comes up saying itunes could not restore " an unknown error has occurred -1439-1415 etc". Now its stuck in disk mode. Tried reloading windows drivers- updates, reloading itunes, the five r's.

If you are talking about the screen-lock passcode, thate means that the restore never successfully completed.
Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.
- Next try the manual install method of:
iDevice Troubleshooting 101 :: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.
- Then try on another computer

i tried reseting my ipod today and had a similar problem... it wont be recognized by itunes, the only thing i havent tried is putting it into DFU mode, or the state that it is in when u recieve it telling u to connect it to itunes.i recommend putting it into DFU mode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34v8HMC9B98 this should better explain it. if i find another way, ill keep u updated

Check USB connections

Have you jailbroken this device? This will make the iPhone not talk to the Software Update Server (that signs and accepts software updates) please refer to the following link? Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
The iPhone will talk to the software update servers, just need to change the host files, it's a simple process, sorry if you were confused about the wording in to top?

yesterday my iPhone was on the carrier mode 'searching...' and wouldn't find connection, taken sim out put back in. done everything. went to EE store and got told to reset iPhone so that's what I did, from my iPhone. from then it frozen on the restore screen and wouldn't restore. Had the same thing happen to my iphone 6 that I just purchased 3 weeks ago. I did the latest upgrade to the software ,phone worked fine for the day but later that night it crashed,went to a black screen and would not do anything. I put it into dfu recovery mode to restore which is where it got worse. Phone was locked with the "connect to iTunes screen " and when I tried to restore several times kept getting error code 4003 and 4013. End result was a trip to the genius bar at the Apple Store where it was determined to be most likely some sort of hardware failure so they replaced my phone with what looked like a refurb but so far so good with the new one. Knock on wood. I still believe there are issues with this latest update because although my phone is working it's not running as smooth as it did the first few weeks I had it. I am very disappointed with the ongoing issues with the iPhone's. I've had every model phone from back to the i3 and never had as many issues combined with this latest iPhone 6. Here hoping Apple gets it together or this will be my last ios device!!

IPad 3 bricked after IOS update, will not restore through iTunes

I have an iPad 3 wifi/3g model that bricked after an IOS update 7.0.6. The update failed at about 70% (Apple Logo with progress line on screen) and rebooted into recovery mode. I've tried doing a restore through iTunes mulitple times and even looked at jailbreaking it but no luck. It always fails during the update and I have tried muliple computers (Windows and Mac) Different networks (Home/Work) but the issue is still there.
The device won't go into DFU mode and in itunes it shows the serial number as n/a like the iPad has no software on it at all. I've tried everything I can thing of and I've had plenty of experiences recoverying and restoring IOS devices in the past. Tinyumberlla and other utils won't get it out of recovery mode and now iTunes won't even try to load the firmware back on the device, it just fails after extracting software.
I'm thinking its now a hardware issue, does anyone have another solution to try?

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

Was the computer used to jailbreak a different iOS device? Are you trying to forcibly install a version of iOS other than the current version for your device? (4.2.1 for the 3G, 6.0.1 for the 4 and 4S, 6.0.2 for the 5).
Those are the only other reasons you would get that error other than an extremely rare hardware failure.
