I powered off my iphone during the software update, and now it keeps turning on and off, what to do?

I was in the middle of updating my Iphone 4 to the new IOS 6 software. It was about 3/4 done but I needed to use my phone to make a phonecall. To stop it from loading the software, I powered it off. Now it won't turn all the way on. It will show the apple loading then it will blank off, and keep repeating.
I dont know what to do, help!

Same thing happened here ~ tech guy at a local authorized Apple repair store said it had something to do with improper backup from which the restore would be made. Still have a phone that asks to be connected to Itunes but won't do anything else . . . frustrated.

When you reset the iPad, wait until the Apple logo appears on the screen before you let go of the buttons.
Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

While updating the software from 6.1.3 to 6.1.4 on iPhone 5, the power failed. iTunes had just finished the backup and was beginning the software update. Now the phone screen says to connect to iTunes but the phone is not recognised when plugged in.

If you can run it under chrome, you have java installed.
There was some malware that exploited an older version of Java (not javascript) running in a Browser. Since few people use it Apple turned off Java by default in the Safari Browser.
If you need it for something, just turn it back on in Safari preferences (inside Safari). After a few months of non-use, you may find it has turned itself off again.

I sounds like you have the first generation (1G) iPod Touch with an iOS earlier than 2.0, Yu can identify your ipod here:

Plug and unlpug the headphone jack with some intention to get the mechanical switch to flip.

If you have owned the device, as in purchased from Apple, less than a year then there will be no charge to repair, or most likely, replace the device. If you have had the device more than a year you will be charged an out of warranty cost for replacement ($219 I think) and that is much cheaper than a new device. Your phone is locked to a carrier. Only a SIM from that carrier can be used to activate the phone. Ask the "friend of your mom's" to which carrier the phone is locked. You'll then need to contact that carrier and see if you are eligible to have the phone unlocked. If not, the phone is useless to you.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

Seems like you tried this all ready and it didn't help.
Next might be to reset all settings.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings
Note that when you do this you will not lose data but you will have to enter all passwords again.
If that doesn't help you might tries a restore of your iPad using iTunes on the computer you normall sync with. Do a backup and save all data first. Or
Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.
